Writing of Will before Death

موت سے پہلے وصیت کا لکھنا

The wasiyyah — the will written before death, kept with the details of burial.

It is not a distribution of property but a statement of belief, addressed to Allah and entrusted to Him for safekeeping. The writer bears witness that there is no god save Allah, that Muhammad (s) is His servant and messenger, that the Hour will come, that Allah will raise the dead from their graves, that the questioning is true, that Paradise is true and the Fire is true.

It then states what he accepts and by whom he is led: Allah as his Lord, Islam as his religion, Muhammad (s) as his Prophet, Ali (a) as his Imam, the Qur'an as his Book, and the Household of the Prophet as his Imams.

Its last request is the one it is written for: that he not be left to himself even for the winking of an eye, that his grave and his loneliness be entertained, and that this confidence deposited with Allah be kept active for the day he meets Him.

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الرَّحْمٰنَ الرَّحِيْمَ اِنِّىْ اَعْهَدُ اِلَيْكَ اَنِّىْ اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَااِلٰهَ اِلَّاللهُ وَحْدَهٗ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهٗ وَاَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهٖ عَبْدُهٗ وَرَسُوْلُهٗ وَاَنَّ السَّاعَةَ آتِيَةٌ لَارَيْبَ فِيْهَا وَاَنَّ اللهَ يَبْعَثُ مَنْ فِى الْقُبُوْرِ وَاَنَّ الْحِسَابَ حَقُّ وَاَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ حَقُّ وَاَنَّ مَا وُعِدَ فِيْهَا مِنَ النَّعِيْمِ مِنَ الْمَاْكَلِ وَالْمَشْرَبِ وَالنِّكَاحِ حَقُّ وَاَنَّ النَّارَ حَقُّ وَاَنَّ الْاِيْمَانَ حَقُّ وَاَنَّ الدِّيْنَ كَمَا وَصَفَ، وَاَنَّ الْاِسْلَامَ كَمَا شَرَعَ وَاَنَّ الْقَوْلَ كَمَا قَالَ وَاَنَّ الْقُرْآنَ كَمَا اَنْزَلَ وَاَنَّ اللهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ وَاَنِّىْ اَعْهَدُ اِلَيْكَ فِىْ دَارِ الدُّنْيَا اَنِّىْ رَضِيْتُ بِكَ رَبًّا وَبِالْاِسْلَامِ دِيْنًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهٖ نَبِيًّا وَبِعَلِي وَلِيًّا وَبِالْقُرْآنِ كِتَابًا وَاَنَّ اَهْلَ بَيْتِ نَبِّيِّكَ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ اَئِمِّتِىْ۔ اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ ثِقَتِىْ عِنْدَ شِدَّتِىْ وَرَجَاۗئِىْ عِنْدَ كُرْبَتِىْ وَعُدَّتِىْ عِنْدَ الْاُمُوْرِ الَّتِىْ تَنْزِلُ بِىْ وَاَنْتَ وَلِيِّىْ فِىْ نِعْمَتِىْ وَاِلٰهِىْ وَاِلٰهُ آبَاۗئِىْ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِهٖ وَلَا تَكِلْنِىْ اِلٰى نَفْسِىْ طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ اَبَدًا وَانِسْ فِىْ قَبْرِىْ وَحْشَتِىْ وَاجْعَلْ لِىْ عِنْدَكَ عَهْدًا يَوْمَ اَلْقَاكَ مَنْشُوْرًا۔

Allaahumma faatira as-samaawaati wal-ardi 'aalima al-ghaybi wash-shahaadati ar-rahmaana ar-raheema iniy a'hadu ilayka aniy ashhadu an laailaaha illaallhu wahdahoo laa shareeka lahoo waanna muhammadan salaa allaahu 'alayhi waaalihee 'abduhoo warasooluhoo waanna as-saa'ata aatiyatun laarayba feehaa waanna allaaha yab'athu man fee al-quboori waanna al-hisaaba haqqu waanna al-jannata haqqu waanna maa wu'ida feehaa mina an-na'eemi mina al-makali wal-mashrabi wan-nikaahi haqqu waanna an-naara haqqu waanna al-eemaana haqqu waanna al-diyna kamaa wasafa, waanna al-islaama kamaa shara'a waanna al-qawla kamaa qaala waanna al-quraana kamaa anzala waanna allaaha huwa al-haqqu al-mubeenu waaniy a'hadu ilayka fee daari ad-dunyaa aniy radeetu bika rabban wabilislaami deenan wabimuhammadin sallaa allaahu 'alayhi waaalihee nabiyyan wabi'alee waliyyan wabilquraani kitaaban waanna ahla bayti nabbiyyika 'alayhi wa'alayhimu as-salaamu a'immitee.

Allaahumma anta thiqatee 'inda shiddatee warajaa'ee 'inda kurbatee wa'uddatee 'inda al-umoori allatee tanzilu bee waanta waliyyee fee ni'matee wailaahee wailaahu aabaa'ee salli 'alaa muhammadin waaalihee walaa takilnee ilaa nafsee tarfata 'aynin abadan waanis fee qabree wahshatee waj'al lee 'indaka 'ahdan yawma al-qaaka manshooran. auto

“O Allah! O Designer of the heavens and the earth! O Knower of the unseen and seen! O most Beneficent! O most Merciful! I confide in You that I bear witness that there is no god save Allah alone, without Your having any associate. I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, that the Hour shall undoubtedly come, that Allah shall raise the dead from their graves, that the Interrogation is true, that Paradise is true, that whatever is promised to be therein such as bliss, eating, drinking and marriage is true, that Hellfire is true, that faith is true, that the religion is as exactly as He has described, that Islam is exactly as He has established, that all what He has said is exactly the truth, that the Qur'an is as exactly as what He has revealed, and that Allah is verily the Manifest Truth. I also confide in You in this world that I submit to You being my Lord, Islam being my religion, Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his Household, being my Prophet, Ali being my Imam, the Qur’an being my Book, and Your Prophet’s Household Your peace be upon him and them being my Imams. O Allah, in You I trust in tribulations, You are my only hope in agonies, You are my only provision when misfortunes befall me, You are my sponsor in my blessings, and You are my God and my ancestors’ God. So (please) send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household and do not make me depend on my own self even for the winking of an eye. Please, entertain me in my grave and loneliness and keep my confidence in You active for the day on which I shall meet You.”

اے معبود! اے آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے، غائب و حاضر کے جاننے والے، بڑے رحم والے مہربان، میں تجھ سے عہد کرتا ہوں ،میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ نہیں کوئی معبود مگر ﷲ جو یکتا ہے کوئی اس کا شریک نہیں اور یہ کہ حضرت محمد ؐاس کے بندے اور رسول ہیں، یقیناً قیامت آنے والی ہے ، اس میں کچھ شبہ نہیں، ﷲ ان لوگوں کو اٹھائے گا جو قبروں میں ہیں، حساب و کتاب حق ہے، جنت اور وہ نعمتیں بھی جو اس میں کھانے پینے کے لیے دی جائیں گی حق ہیں, نکاح حق ہے، جہنم حق ہے, ایمان حق ہے، دین حق ہے، جیسے اس نے بتایا اسلام حق ہے, جیسے اس نے حکم دیا حق بات وہی ہے جو اس نے کہی, قرآن حق ہے جیسے اس نے نازل کیا اور ﷲ واضح حق ہے۔ میں اس دنیا میں تیرے ساتھ عہد کرتا ہوں کہ یقیناً میں راضی ہوں کہ تو میرا رب ہے، اسلام میرا دین ہے ،حضرت محمد ؐ میرے نبی ہیں، علیؑ میرے ولی ہیں، قرآن میری کتاب ہے اور اس پر کہ تیرے نبی کے اہل بیتؑ میرے امام ہیں، تیرے نبی اور ان اماموں پر سلام۔ اے معبود! سختی کے وقت تو میرا سہارا ہے، پریشانی میں تو ہی میری آس ہے تو ہی میرا ذخیرہ ہے، ان حادثوں میں جو مجھ پر آ پڑتے ہیں تو میرا نعمت دینے والا مولا ہے، میرا اور میرے بزرگوں کا معبود ہے، رحمت فرما محمدؐ اور ان کی آلؑ پراور مجھے پلک جھپکنے تک بھی میرے نفس کے حوالے نہ کر قبر کی تنہائی میں میرا ہم دم بن اپنے ہاں میرے لیے عہد مقرر فرما جب حشر میں تیرے سامنے حاضر ہوں گا۔

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔

Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin

Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.

اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
