Surah Jumu’a (62, 11 ayat)سورۂ جمعہ

After the opening glorification of Allah, the King, the Holy, the text speaks of an apostle raised among the inhabitants of Mecca to recite His communications, purify them and teach the Book and Wisdom. Those charged with the Taurat who did not observe it are likened to an ass bearing books. The close addresses believers on the Friday call to prayer, leaving off trade, and dispersing afterwards to seek Allah's grace.

Congregation (Madani)

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) has said that if this Surah is recited frequently in the mornings and evenings, the reciter is protected from the influence of Shaitaan and his temptations. His sins are also forgiven. In another narration it is said that if a person recites this Surah daily, he will be safe from every dangerous and frightening thing.

امام صادقؑ فرماتے ہیں: ہمارے ہرمؤمن شیعہ پر واجب ہے کہ ہرشب جمعہ،سورۂ جمعہ اور اعلیٰ کی تلاوت کرے اور جمعہ کے دن سورۂ جمعہ و منافقون کی تلاوت کرے اگروہ ایسا کرے توگویا اس نے رسول اکرمؐ کا عمل کیا اس کا ثواب اور جزاء اللہ پر ہے کہ اسے جنّت عطا کرے۔ (مجمع البیان ج۱۰ ص۵)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

يُسَبِّحُ لِلهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِ الْمَلِكِ الْقُدُّوْسِ الْعَزِيْزِ الْحَكِيْمِ

Yusabbihu lillaahi maa fee as-samaawaati wamaa fee al-ardi al-maliki al-quddoosi al-'azeezi al-hakeem

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth declares the glory of Allah, the King, the Holy, the Mighty, the Wise.

زمین و آسمان کا ہر ذرہ اس خدا کی تسبیح کر رہا ہے جو بادشاہ پاکیزہ صفات اور صاحبِ عزّت اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

هُوَ الَّذِيْ بَعَثَ فِي الْاُمِّيّٖنَ رَسُوْلًا مِّنْهُمْ يَتْلُوْ عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيٰتِهٖ وَيُزَكِّيْهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتٰبَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَاِنْ كَانُوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَفِيْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِيْنٍ

Huwa allazee ba'atha fee al-ummiyyeena rasoolan minhum yatloo 'alayhim aayaatihee wayuzakkeehim wayu'allimuhumu al-kitaaba wal-hikmata wa-in kaanoo min qablu lafee dalaalin mubeen

He it is Who raised among the inhabitants of Mecca an Apostle from among themselves, who recites to them His communications and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and the Wisdom, although they were before certainly in clear error

اس خدا نے مکہ والوں میں ایک رسول بھیجا ہے جو ان ہی میں سے تھا کہ ان کے سامنے آیات کی تلاوت کرے، ان کے نفوس کو پاکیزہ بنائے اور انہیں کتاب و حکمت کی تعلیم دے اگرچہ یہ لوگ بڑی کھلی ہوئی گمراہی میں مبتلا تھے۔

وَاٰخَرِيْنَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوْا بِهِمْ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ

Wa-aakhareena minhum lammaa yalhaqoo bihim wahuwa al-'azeezu al-hakeem

And others from among them who have not yet joined them; and He is the Mighty, the Wise.

اور ان میں سے ان لوگوں کی طرف بھی جو ابھی ان سے ملحق نہیں ہوئے ہیں اور وہ صاحبِ عزّت بھی ہے اور صاحبِ حکمت بھی۔

ذٰلِكَ فَضْلُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيْهِ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَاللهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيْمِ

Zaalika fadlu allaahi yu'teehi man yashaa'u wallaahu zoo al-fadli al-'azeem

That is Allah’s grace; He grants it to whom He pleases, and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace.

یہ ایک فضلِ خدا ہے وہ جسے چاہتا ہے عطا کر دیتا ہے اور وہ بڑے عظیم فضل کا مالک ہے۔

مَثَلُ الَّذِيْنَ حُمِّلُوا التَّوْرٰةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوْهَا كَمَثَلِ الْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ اَسْفَارًا بِئْسَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِيْنَ كَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِ اللهِ وَاللهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ

Mathalu allazeena hummiloo at-tawraata thumma lam yahmiloohaa kamathali al-himaari yahmilu asfaaran bi'sa mathalu al-qawmi allazeena kazzaboo bi-aayaati allaahi wallaahu laa yahdee al-qawma az-zaalimeen

The likeness of those who were charged with the Taurat, then they did not observe it, is as the likeness of the ass bearing books, evil is the likeness of the people who reject the communications of Allah; and Allah does not guide the unjust people.

ان لوگوں کی مثال جن پر توریت کا بار رکھا گیا اور وہ اسے اُٹھا نہ سکے اس گدھے کی مثال ہے جو کتابوں کا بوجھ اٹھائے ہوئے ہو یہ بدترین مثال ان لوگوں کی ہے جنہوں نے آیات الٰہی کی تکذیب کی ہے اور خدا کسی ظالم قوم کی ہدایت نہیں کرتا ہے۔

قُلْ يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ هَادُوْٓا اِنْ زَعَمْتُمْ اَنَّكُمْ اَوْلِيَآءُ لِلهِ مِنْ دُوْنِ النَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُا الْمَوْتَ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ صٰدِقِيْنَ

Qul yaa ayyuhaa allazeena haadoo in za'amtum annakum awliyaa'u lillaahi min dooni an-naasi fatamannawu al-mawta in kuntum saadiqeen

Say: O you who are Jews, if you think that you are the favorites of Allah to the exclusion of other people, then invoke death If you are truthful.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ یہودیو اگر تمہارا خیال یہ ہے کہ تمام انسانوں میں تم ہی اللہ کے دوست ہو تو اگر اپنے دعویٰ میں سچے ہو تو موت کی تمنّا کرو۔

وَلَا يَتَمَنَّوْنَهٗٓ اَبَدًۢا بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ اَيْدِيْهِمْ وَاللهُ عَلِيْمٌۢ بِالظّٰلِمِيْنَ

Walaa yatamannawnahoo abadan bimaa qaddamat aydeehim wallaahu 'aleemun biz-zaalimeen

And they will never invoke it because of what their hands have sent before; and Allah is Cognizant of the unjust.

اور یہ ہر گز موت کی تمنّا نہیں کریں گے کہ ان کے ہاتھوں نے پہلے بہت کچھ کر رکھا ہے اور اللہ ظالمین کے حالات کو خوب جانتا ہے۔

قُلْ اِنَّ الْمَوْتَ الَّذِيْ تَفِرُّوْنَ مِنْهُ فَاِنَّهٗ مُلٰقِيْكُمْ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّوْنَ اِلٰى عٰلِمِ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ

Qul inna al-mawta allazee tafirroona minhu fa-innahoo mulaaqeekum thumma turaddoona ilaa 'aalimi al-ghaybi wash-shahaadati fayunabbi'ukum bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

Say: (As for) the death from which you flee, that will surely overtake you, then you shall be sent back to the Knower of the unseen and the seen, and He will inform you of that which you did.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تم جس موت سے فرار کر رہے ہو وہ خود تم سے ملاقات کرنے والی ہے اس کے بعد تم اس کی بارگاہ میں پلٹائے جاؤ گے جو حاضر و غائب سب کا جاننے والا ہے اور وہ تمہیں باخبر کرے گا کہ تم دنیا میں کیا کر رہے تھے۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْٓا اِذَا نُوْدِيَ لِلصَّلٰوةِ مِنْ يَّوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا اِلٰى ذِكْرِ اللهِ وَذَرُوا الْبَيْعَ ذٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ

Yaa ayyuhaa allazeena aamanoo izaa noodiya lis-salaati min yawmi al-jumu'ati fas'aw ilaa zikri allaahi wazaroo al-bay'a zaalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum ta'lamoon

O you who believe! when the call is made for prayer on Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trading; that is better for you, if you know.

ایمان والو جب تمہیں جمعہ کے دن نماز کے لئے پکارا جائے تو ذکر خدا کی طرف دوڑ پڑو اور کاروبار بند کر دو کہ یہی تمہارے حق میں بہتر ہے اگر تم جاننے والے ہو۔

فَاِذَا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلٰوةُ فَانْتَشِرُوْا فِي الْاَرْضِ وَابْتَغُوْا مِنْ فَضْلِ اللهِ وَاذْكُرُوا اللهَ كَثِيْرًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُوْنَ

Fa-izaa qudiyati as-salaatu fantashiroo fee al-ardi wabtaghoo min fadli allaahi wazkuroo allaaha katheeran la'allakum tuflihoon

But when the prayer is ended, then disperse abroad in the land and seek of Allah’s grace, and remember Allah much, that you may be successful.

پھر جب نماز تمام ہو جائے تو زمین میں منتشر ہو جاؤ اور فضل خدا کو تلاش کرو اور خدا کو بہت یاد کرو کہ شاید اسی طرح تمہیں نجات حاصل ہو جائے۔

وَاِذَا رَاَوْا تِجَارَةً اَوْ لَهْوًا انْفَضُّوْٓا اِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوْكَ قَآئِمًا قُلْ مَا عِنْدَ اللهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ اللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ التِّجَارَةِ وَاللهُ خَيْرُ الرّٰزِقِيْنَ

Wa-izaa ra'aw tijaaratan aw lahwan infaddoo ilayhaa watarakooka qaa'iman qul maa 'inda allaahi khayrun mina al-lahwi wamina at-tijaarati wallaahu khayru ar-raaziqeen

And when they see merchandise or sport they break up for it, and leave you standing. Say: What is with Allah is better than sport and (better) than merchandise, and Allah is the best of Sustainers.

اور اے پیغمبر یہ لوگ جب تجارت یا لہو و لعب کو دیکھتے ہیں تو اس کی طرف دوڑ پڑتے ہیں اور آپ کو تنہا کھڑا چھوڑ دیتے ہیں آپ ان سے کہہ دیجئے کہ خدا کے پاس جو کچھ بھی ہے وہ اس کھیل اور تجارت سے بہرحال بہتر ہے اور وہ بہترین رزق دینے والا ہے۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
