Surah Talaaq (65, 12 ayat)سورۂ طلاق

The Prophet is addressed on divorce: the prescribed time, women not driven from their houses, retaining or separating with kindness, and two just witnesses called. The text goes on to lodging, maintenance and recompense for suckling, each according to means. It then recalls towns that rebelled and were called to account, and closes with an apostle bringing believers from darkness into light and with the seven heavens Allah created.

Divorce (Madina)

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) has said that if Surah Talaaq and Surah Tahreem are recited in the waajib namaz then the reciter will be protected by Allah (s) from the fear of the Day of Judgement and he will enter Jannah. In another narration it is said that the one who recites this Surah will be given the inspiration to perform Tawbatan Nasuha (the sincere repentance to Allah (s)).

امام صادقؑ نے فرمایا:جس نے سورۂ طلاق اور سورۂ تحریم کی تلاوت واجب نماز میں کی وہ روزِ قیامت ہر قسم کے خوف وہراس سے دور ہوگا آتش دوزخ سے دورہوگا ان دونوں سوروں کی تلاوت اور پابندی کی بناپرداخل بہشت ہوگا اس لئے کہ یہ دونوں سورے نبی اکرمؐ کے لئے ہیں۔ (مجمع البیان، ج۱۰ص۳۶)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَآءَ فَطَلِّقُوْهُنَّ لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ وَاَحْصُوا الْعِدَّةَ وَاتَّقُوا اللهَ رَبَّكُمْ لَا تُخْرِجُوْهُنَّ مِنْۢ بُيُوْتِهِنَّ وَلَا يَخْرُجْنَ اِلَّآ اَنْ يَّاْتِيْنَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ وَّتِلْكَ حُدُوْدُ اللهِ وَمَنْ يَّتَعَدَّ حُدُوْدَ اللهِ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهٗ لَا تَدْرِيْ لَعَلَّ اللهَ يُحْدِثُ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ اَمْرًا

Yaa ayyuhaa an-nabiyyu izaa tallaqtumu an-nisaa'a fatalliqoohunna li'iddatihinna wa-ahsoo al-'iddata wattaqoo allaaha rabbakum laa tukhrijoohunna min buyootihinna walaa yakhrujna illaa an ya'teena bifaahishatin mubayyinatin watilka hudoodu allaahi waman yata'adda hudooda allaahi faqad zalama nafsahoo laa tadree la'alla allaaha yuhdithu ba'da zaalika amraa

O Prophet! when you divorce women, divorce them for their prescribed time, and calculate the number of the days prescribed, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, your Lord. Do not drive them out of their houses, nor should they themselves go forth, unless they commit an open indecency; and these are the limits of Allah, and whoever goes beyond the limits of Allah, he indeed does injustice to his own soul. You do not know that Allah may after that bring about reunion.

اے پیغمبر! جب تم لوگ عورتوں کو طلاق دو تو انہیں عدت کے حساب سے طلاق دو اور پھر عدت کا حساب رکھو اور اللہ سے ڈرتے رہو کہ وہ تمہارا پروردگار ہے اور خبردار انہیں ان کے گھروں سے مت نکالنا اور نہ وہ خود نکلیں جب تک کوئی کھلا ہوا گناہ نہ کریں، یہ خدائی حدود ہیں اور جو خدائی حدود سے تجاوز کرے گا اس نے اپنے ہی نفس پر ظلم کیا ہے تمہیں نہیں معلوم کہ شاید خدا اس کے بعد کوئی نئی بات ایجاد کر دے۔

فَاِذَا بَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَاَمْسِكُوْهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوْفٍ اَوْ فَارِقُوْهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوْفٍ وَّاَشْهِدُوْا ذَوَيْ عَدْلٍ مِّنْكُمْ وَاَقِيْمُوا الشَّهَادَةَ لِلهِ ذٰلِكُمْ يُوْعَظُ بِهٖ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَمَنْ يَّتَّقِ اللهَ يَجْعَل لَّهٗ مَخْرَجًا

Fa-izaa balaghna ajalahunna fa-amsikoohunna bima'roofin aw faariqoohunna bima'roofin wa-ashhidoo zaway 'adlin minkum wa-aqeemoo ash-shahaadata lillaahi zaalikum yoo'azu bihee man kaana yu'minu billaahi wal-yawmi al-aakhiri waman yattaqi allaaha yaj'al lahoo makhrajaa

So when they have reached their prescribed time, then retain them with kindness or separate them with kindness, and call to witness two men of justice from among you, and give upright testimony for Allah. With that is admonished he who believes in Allah and the latter day; and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah, He will make for him an outlet

پھر جب وہ اپنی مدت کو پورا کر لیں تو انہیں نیکی کے ساتھ روک لو یا نیکی ہی کے ساتھ رخصت کر دو اور طلاق کے لئے اپنے میں سے دو عادل افراد کو گواہ بناؤ اور گواہی کو صرف خدا کے لئے قائم کرو نصیحت ان لوگوں کو کی جا رہی ہے جو خدا اور روزِ آخرت پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور جو بھی اللہ سے ڈرتا ہے اللہ اس کے لئے نجات کی راہ پیدا کر دیتا ہے

وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ وَمَنْ يَّتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهٗٓ اِنَّ اللهَ بَالِغُ اَمْرِهٖ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرًا

Wayarzuqhu min haythu laa yahtasibu waman yatawakkal 'alaa allaahi fahuwa hasbuhoo inna allaaha baalighu amrihee qad ja'ala allaahu likulli shay'in qadraa

And give him sustenance from whence he thinks not; and whoever trusts in Allah, He is sufficient for him; surely Allah attains His purpose; Allah indeed has appointed a measure for everything.

اور اسے ایسی جگہ سے رزق دیتا ہے جس کا خیال بھی نہیں ہوتا ہے اور جو خدا پر بھروسہ کرے گا خدا اس کے لئے کافی ہے بےشک خدا اپنے حکم کا پہنچانے والا ہے اس نے ہر شے کے لئے ایک مقدار معین کر دی ہے۔

وَالّٰٓئِیْ يَئِسْنَ مِنَ الْمَحِيْضِ مِن نِّسَآئِكُمْ اِنِ ارْتَبْتُمْ فَعِدَّتُهُنَّ ثَلٰثَةُ اَشْهُرٍ وَّالّٰٓئِيْ لَمْ يَحِضْنَ وَاُولَاتُ الْاَحْمَالِ اَجَلُهُنَّ اَنْ يَّضَعْنَ حَمْلَهُنَّ وَمَنْ يَّتَّقِ اللهَ يَجْعَل لَّهٗ مِنْ اَمْرِهٖ يُسْرًا

Wallaa'ee ya'isna mina al-maheedi min nisaa'ikum ini irtabtum fa'iddatuhunna thalaathatu ashhurin wallaa'ee lam yahidna wa-oolaatu al-ahmaali ajaluhunna an yada'na hamlahunna waman yattaqi allaaha yaj'al lahoo min amrihee yusraa

And (as for) those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, if you have a doubt, their prescribed time shall be three months, and of those too who have not had their courses; and (as for) the pregnant women, their prescribed time is that they lay down their burden; and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah. He will make easy for him his affair.

اور تمہاری عورتوں میں جو حیض سے مایوس ہو چکی ہیں اگر ان کے یائسہ ہونے میں شک ہو تو ان کا عدہ تین مہینے ہے اور اسی طرح وہ عورتیں جن کے یہاں حیض نہیں آتا ہے اور حاملہ عورتوں کا عدہ وضع حمل تک ہے اور جو خدا سے ڈرتا ہے خدا اس کے امر میں آسانی پیدا کر دیتا ہے۔

ذٰلِكَ اَمْرُ اللهِ اَنْزَلَهٗٓ اِلَيْكُمْ وَمَنْ يَّتَّقِ اللهَ يُكَفِّرْ عَنْهُ سَيِّاٰتِهٖ وَيُعْظِمْ لَهٗٓ اَجْرًا

Zaalika amru allaahi anzalahoo ilaykum waman yattaqi allaaha yukaffir 'anhu sayyi'aatihee wayu'zim lahoo ajraa

That is the command of Allah which He has revealed to you, and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah, He will remove from him his evil and give him a big reward.

یہ حکمِ خدا ہے جسے تمہاری طرف اس نے نازل کیا ہے اور جو خدا سے ڈرتا ہے خدا اس کی برائیوں کو دور کر دیتا ہے اور اس کے اجر میں اضافہ کر دیتا ہے۔

اَسْكِنُوْهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ سَكَنْتُم مِّنْ وُّجْدِكُمْ وَلَا تُضَآرُّوْهُنَّ لِتُضَيِّقُوْا عَلَيْهِنَّ وَاِنْ كُنَّ اُولَاتِ حَمْلٍ فَاَنْفِقُوْا عَلَيْهِنَّ حَتّٰى يَضَعْنَ حَمْلَهُنَّ فَاِنْ اَرْضَعْنَ لَكُمْ فَاٰتُوْهُنَّ اُجُوْرَهُنَّ وَاْتَمِرُوْا بَيْنَكُمْ بِمَعْرُوْفٍ وَاِنْ تَعَاسَرْتُمْ فَسَتُرْضِعُ لَهٗٓ اُخْرٰى

Askinoohunna min haythu sakantum min wujdikum walaa tudaarroohunna litudayyiqoo 'alayhinna wa-in kunna oolaati hamlin fa-anfiqoo 'alayhinna hattaa yada'na hamlahunna fa-in arda'na lakum fa-aatoohunna ujoorahunna wa'tamiroo baynakum bima'roofin wa-in ta'aasartum fasaturdi'u lahoo ukhraa

Lodge them where you lodge according to your means, and do not injure them in order that you may straiten them; and if they are pregnant, spend on them until they lay down their burden; then if they suckle for you, give them their recompense and enjoin one another among you to do good; and if you disagree, another (woman) shall suckle for him.

اور ان مطلقات کو سکونت دو جیسی طاقت تم رکھتے ہو اور انہیں اذیت مت دو کہ اس طرح ان پر تنگی کرو اور اگر حاملہ ہوں تو ان پر اس وقت تک انفاق کرو جب تک وضع حمل نہ ہو جائے پھر اگر وہ تمہارے بچوں کو دودھ پلائیں تو انہیں ان کی اجرت دو اور اسے آپس میں نیکی کے ساتھ طے کرو اور اگر آپس میں کشاکش ہو جائے تو دوسری عورت کو دودھ پلانے کا موقع دو۔

لِيُنْفِقْ ذُوْ سَعَةٍ مِّنْ سَعَتِهٖ وَمَنْ قُدِرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقُهٗ فَلْيُنْفِقْ مِمَّآ اٰتٰهُ اللهُ لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللهُ نَفْسًا اِلَّا مَآ اٰتٰهَا سَيَجْعَلُ اللهُ بَعْدَ عُسْرٍ يُّسْرًا

Liyunfiq zoo sa'atin min sa'atihee waman qudira 'alayhi rizquhoo fal-yunfiq mimmaa aataahu allaahu laa yukallifu allaahu nafsan illaa maa aataahaa sayaj'alu allaahu ba'da 'usrin yusraa

Let him who has abundance spend out of his abundance and whoever has his means of subsistence straitened to him, let him spend out of that which Allah has given him; Allah does not lay on any soul a burden except to the extent to which He has granted it; Allah brings about ease after difficulty.

صاحبِ وسعت کو چاہئے کہ اپنی وسعت کے مطابق خرچ کرے اور جس کے رزق میں تنگی ہے وہ اسی میں سے خرچ کرے جو خدا نے اسے دیا ہے کہ خدا کسی نفس کو اس سے زیادہ تکلیف نہیں دیتا ہے جتنا اسے عطا کیا گیا ہے عنقریب خدا تنگی کے بعد وسعت عطا کر دے گا۔

وَكَاَيِّن مِّنْ قَرْيَةٍ عَتَتْ عَنْ اَمْرِ رَبِّهَا وَرُسُلِهٖ فَحَاسَبْنٰهَا حِسَابًا شَدِيْدًا وَّعَذَّبْنٰهَا عَذَابًا نُّكْرًا

Waka-ayyin min qaryatin 'atat 'an amri rabbihaa warusulihee fahaasabnaahaa hisaaban shadeedan wa'azzabnaahaa 'azaaban nukraa

And how many a town which rebelled against the commandment of its Lord and His apostles, so We called it to account severely and We chastised it (with) a stern chastisement.

اور کتنی ہی بستیاں ہیں جنہوں نے حکمِ خدا و رسول کی نافرمانی کی تو ہم نے ان کا شدید محاسبہ کر لیا اور انہیں بدترین عذاب میں مبتلا کر دیا۔

فَذَاقَتْ وَبَالَ اَمْرِهَا وَكَانَ عَاقِبَةُ اَمْرِهَا خُسْرًا

Fazaaqat wabaala amrihaa wakaana 'aaqibatu amrihaa khusraa

So it tasted the evil result of its conduct, and the end of its affair was perdition.

پھر انہوں نے اپنے کام کے وبال کا مزہ چکھ لیا اور آخری انجام خسارہ ہی قرار پایا۔

اَعَدَّ اللهُ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيْدًا فَاتَّقُوا اللهَ يٰٓاُوْلِي الْاَلْبَابِ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا قَدْ اَنْزَلَ اللهُ اِلَيْكُمْ ذِكْرًا

A'adda allaahu lahum 'azaaban shadeedan fattaqoo allaaha yaa oolee al-albaabi allazeena aamanoo qad anzala allaahu ilaykum zikraa

Allah has prepared for them severe chastisement, therefore be careful of (your duty to) Allah, O men of understanding who believe! Allah has indeed revealed to you a reminder

اللہ نے ان کے لئے شدید قسم کا عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے لہذا ایمان والو اور عقل والو اللہ سے ڈرو کہ اس نے تمہاری طرف اپنے ذکر کو نازل کیا ہے۔

رَسُوْلًا يَّتْلُوْ عَلَيْكُمْ اٰيٰتِ اللهِ مُبَيِّنٰتٍ لِّيُخْرِجَ الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ مِنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ وَمَنْ يُّؤْمِنْۢ بِاللهِ وَيَعْمَلْ صَالِحًا يُّدْخِلْهُ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ خٰلِدِيْنَ فِيْهَآ اَبَدًا قَدْ اَحْسَنَ اللهُ لَهٗ رِزْقًا

Rasoolan yatloo 'alaykum aayaati allaahi mubayyinaatin liyukhrija allazeena aamanoo wa'amiloo as-saalihaati mina az-zulumaati ilaa an-noori waman yu'min billaahi waya'mal saalihan yudkhilhu jannaatin tajree min tahtihaa al-anhaaru khaalideena feehaa abadan qad ahsana allaahu lahoo rizqaa

An Apostle who recites to you the clear communications of Allah so that he may bring forth those who believe and do good deeds from darkness into light; and whoever believes in Allah and does good deeds, He will cause him to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein forever, Allah has indeed given him a goodly sustenance.

وہ رسول جو اللہ کی واضح آیات کی تلاوت کرتا ہے کہ ایمان اور نیک عمل کرنے والوں کو تاریکیوں سے نکال کر نور کی طرف لے آئے اور جو خدا پر ایمان رکھے گا اور نیک عمل کرے گا خدا اسے ان جنّتوں میں داخل کرے گا جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی وہ ان ہی میں ہمیشہ رہنے والے ہیں اور اللہ نے انہیں یہ بہترین رزق عطا کیا ہے۔

اَللهُ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ سَبْعَ سَمٰوٰتٍ وَّمِنَ الْاَرْضِ مِثْلَهُنَّ يَتَنَزَّلُ الْاَمْرُ بَيْنَهُنَّ لِتَعْلَمُوْٓا اَنَّ اللهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ وَّاَنَّ اللهَ قَدْ اَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا

Allaahu allazee khalaqa sab'a samaawaatin wamina al-ardi mithlahunna yatanazzalu al-amru baynahunna lita'lamoo anna allaaha 'alaa kulli shay'in qadeerun wa-anna allaaha qad ahaata bikulli shay'in 'ilmaa

Allah is He Who created seven heavens, and of the earth the like of them; the decree continues to descend among them, that you may know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah indeed encompasses all things in (His) knowledge.

اللہ ہی وہ ہے جس نے ساتوں آسمانوں کو پیدا کیا ہے اور زمینوں میں بھی ویسی ہی زمینیں بنائی ہیں اس کے احکام ان کے درمیان نازل ہوتے رہتے ہیں تاکہ تمہیں یہ معلوم رہے کہ وہ ہر شے پر قادر ہے اور اس کا علم تمام اشیاء کو محیط ہے۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
