Surah Tahreem (66, 12 ayat)سورۂ تحریم

The opening question asks the Prophet why he forbids himself what Allah has made lawful, seeking to please his wives, and a secret he confided to one of them is made known. Believers are told to save themselves and their families from a fire whose fuel is men and stones. It closes with the wives of Nuh and Lut, the wife of Firon, and Marium daughter of Imran as examples.

Prohibition (Madina)

It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that the one who recites this Surah will be from those who always seek sincere repentance from Allah (s). The recitation of this Surah and drinking of its water acts as a cure from many ailments and diseases. If this Surah is recited by a person who is not getting sleep then he will be able to sleep and if recited by a person who is frightened, he will become calm. Frequent recitation also helps a person who is in debt to clear his debts.

رسول اکرمؐ نے فرمایا:جس نے سورۂ تحریم کی تلاوت کی اللہ اسے توبۂ نصوح عطاکرے گا۔ (مجمع البیان،ج۱۰،ص۵۲)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَآ اَحَلَّ اللهُ لَكَ تَبْتَغِيْ مَرْضَاتَ اَزْوَاجِكَ وَاللهُ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِيْمٌ

Yaa ayyuhaa an-nabiyyu lima tuharrimu maa ahalla allaahu laka tabtaghee mardaata azwaajika wallaahu ghafoorun raheem

O Prophet! why do you forbid (yourself) that which Allah has made lawful for you; you seek to please your wives; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

پیغمبر آپ اس شے کو کیوں ترک کر رہے ہیں جس کو خدا نے آپ کے لئے حلال کیا ہے کیا آپ ازواج کی مرضی کے خواہشمند ہیں اور اللہ بہت بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

قَدْ فَرَضَ اللهُ لَكُمْ تَحِلَّةَ اَيْمَانِكُمْ وَاللهُ مَوْلٰكُمْ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيْمُ الْحَكِيْمُ

Qad farada allaahu lakum tahillata aymaanikum wallaahu mawlaakum wahuwa al-'aleemu al-hakeem

Allah indeed has sanctioned for you the expiation of your oaths and Allah is your Protector, and He is the Knowing, the Wise.

خدا نے فرض قرار دیا ہے کہ اپنی قسم کو کفّارہ دے کر ختم کر دیجئے اور اللہ آپ کا مولا ہے اور وہ ہر چیز کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

وَاِذْ اَسَرَّ النَّبِيُّ اِلٰى بَعْضِ اَزْوَاجِهٖ حَدِيْثًا فَلَمَّا نَبَّاَتْ بِهٖ وَاَظْهَرَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ عَرَّفَ بَعْضَهٗ وَاَعْرَضَ عَنْۢ بَعْضٍ فَلَمَّا نَبَّاَهَا بِهٖ قَالَتْ مَنْ اَنْۢبَاَكَ هٰذَا قَالَ نَبَّاَنِيَ الْعَلِيْمُ الْخَبِيْرُ

Wa-iz asarra an-nabiyyu ilaa ba'di azwaajihee hadeethan falammaa nabba'at bihee wa-azharahu allaahu 'alayhi 'arrafa ba'dahoo wa-a'rada 'an ba'din falammaa nabba'ahaa bihee qaalat man anba'aka haazaa qaala nabba'aniya al-'aleemu al-khabeer

And when the prophet secretly communicated a piece of information to one of his wives- but when she informed (others) of it, and Allah made him to know it, he made known part of it and avoided part; so when he informed her of it, she said: Who informed you of this? He said: The Knowing, the one Aware, informed me.

اور جب نبی نے اپنی بعض ازواج سے راز کی بات بتائی اور اس نے دوسری کو باخبر کر دیا اور خدا نے نبی پر ظاہر کر دیا تو نبی نے بعض باتوں کو اسے بتایا اور بعض سے اعراض کیا پھر جب اسے باخبر کیا تو اس نے پوچھا کہ آپ کو کس نے بتایا ہے تو آپ نے کہا کہ خدائے علیم و خبیر نے۔

اِنْ تَتُوْبَآ اِلَى اللهِ فَقَدْ صَغَتْ قُلُوْبُكُمَا وَاِنْ تَظٰهَرَا عَلَيْهِ فَاِنَّ اللهَ هُوَ مَوْلٰهُ وَجِبْرِيْلُ وَصَالِحُ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ ظَهِيْرٌ

In tatoobaa ilaa allaahi faqad saghat quloobukumaa wa-in tazaaharaa 'alayhi fa-inna allaaha huwa mawlaahu wajibreelu wasaalihu al-mu'mineena wal-malaa'ikatu ba'da zaalika zaheer

If you both turn to Allah, then indeed your hearts are already inclined (to this); and if you back up each other against him, then surely Allah it is Who is his Guardian, and Jibreel and the believers that do good, and the angels after that are the aiders.

اب تم دونوں توبہ کرو کہ تمہارے دلوں میں کجی پیدا ہو گئی ہے ورنہ اگر اس کے خلاف اتفاق کرو گی تو یاد رکھو کہ اللہ اس کا سرپرست ہے اور جبریل اور نیک مومنین اور ملائکہ سب اس کے مدد گار ہیں۔

عَسٰى رَبُّهٗٓ اِنْ طَلَّقَكُنَّ اَنْ يُّبْدِلَهٗٓ اَزْوَاجًا خَيْرًا مِّنْكُنَّ مُسْلِمٰتٍ مُّؤْمِنٰتٍ قٰنِتٰتٍ تٰٓئِبٰتٍ عٰبِدٰتٍ سٰٓئِحٰتٍ ثَيِّبٰتٍ وَّاَبْكَارًا

'Asaa rabbuhoo in tallaqakunna an yubdilahoo azwaajan khayran minkunna muslimaatin mu'minaatin qaanitaatin taa'ibaatin 'aabidaatin saa'ihaatin thayyibaatin wa-abkaaraa

Maybe, his Lord, if he divorce you, will give him in your place wives better than you, submissive, faithful, obedient, penitent, adorers, fasters, widows and virgins.

وہ اگر تمہیں طلاق بھی دے دے گا تو خدا تمہارے بدلے اسے تم سے بہتر بیویاں عطا کر دے گا مسلمہ، مومنہ، فرمانبردار، توبہ کرنے والی، عبادت گزار، روزہ رکھنے والی، کنواری اور غیر کنواری سب۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا قُوْٓا اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَاَهْلِيْكُمْ نَارًا وَّقُوْدُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ عَلَيْهَا مَلٰٓئِكَةٌ غِلَاظٌ شِدَادٌ لَّا يَعْصُوْنَ اللهَ مَآ اَمَرَهُمْ وَيَفْعَلُوْنَ مَا يُؤْمَرُوْنَ

Yaa ayyuhaa allazeena aamanoo qoo anfusakum wa-ahleekum naaran waqooduhaa an-naasu wal-hijaaratu 'alayhaa malaa'ikatun ghilaazun shidaadun laa ya'soona allaaha maa amarahum wayaf'aloona maa yu'maroon

O you who believe! save yourselves and your families from a fire whose fuel is men and stones; over it are angels stern and strong, they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them, and do as they are commanded.

ایمان والو اپنے نفس اور اپنے اہل کو اس آگ سے بچاؤ جس کا ایندھن انسان اور پتھر ہوں گے جس پر وہ ملائکہ معین ہوں گے جو سخت مزاج اور تند و تیز ہیں اور خدا کے حکم کی مخالفت نہیں کرتے ہیں اور جو حکم دیا جاتا ہے اسی پر عمل کرتے ہیں۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا الْيَوْمَ اِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ

Yaa ayyuhaa allazeena kafaroo laa ta'taziroo al-yawma innamaa tujzawna maa kuntum ta'maloon

O you who disbelieve! do not urge excuses today; you shall be rewarded only according to what you did.

اور اے کفر اختیار کرنے والو آج کوئی عذر پیش نہ کرو کہ آج تمہیں تمہارے اعمال کی سزا دی جائے گی۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا تُوْبُوْٓا اِلَى اللهِ تَوْبَةً نَّصُوْحًا عَسٰى رَبُّكُمْ اَنْ يُّكَفِّرَ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّاٰتِكُمْ وَيُدْخِلَكُمْ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِيْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُ يَوْمَ لَا يُخْزِي اللهُ النَّبِيَّ وَالَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مَعَهٗ نُوْرُهُمْ يَسْعٰى بَيْنَ اَيْدِيْهِمْ وَبِاَيْمَانِهِمْ يَقُوْلُوْنَ رَبَّنَآ اَتْمِمْ لَنَا نُوْرَنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَآ اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

Yaa ayyuhaa allazeena aamanoo tooboo ilaa allaahi tawbatan nasoohan 'asaa rabbukum an yukaffira 'ankum sayyi'aatikum wayudkhilakum jannaatin tajree min tahtihaa al-anhaaru yawma laa yukhzee allaahu an-nabiyya wallazeena aamanoo ma'ahoo nooruhum yas'aa bayna aydeehim wabi-aymaanihim yaqooloona rabbanaa atmim lanaa nooranaa waghfir lanaa innaka 'alaa kulli shay'in qadeer

O you who believe! turn to Allah a sincere turning; maybe your Lord will remove from you your evil and cause you to enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, on the day on which Allah will not abase the Prophet and those who believe with him; their light shall run on before them and on their right hands; they shall say: Our Lord! make perfect for us our light, and grant us protection, surely Thou hast power over all things.

ایمان والو خلوصِ دل کے ساتھ توبہ کرو عنقریب تمہارا پروردگار تمہاری برائیوں کو مٹا دے گا اور تمہیں ان جنّتوں میں داخل کر دے گا جن کے نیچے نہریں جاری ہوں گی اس دن خدا اپنے نبی اور صاحبانِ ایمان کو رسوا نہیں ہونے دے گا ان کا نور ان کے آگے آگے اور داہنی طرف چل رہا ہو گا اور وہ کہیں گے کہ خدایا ہمارے لئے ہمارے نور کو مکمل کر دے اور ہمیں بخش دے کہ تو یقینًا ہر شے پر قدرت رکھنے والا ہے۔

يٰٓاَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ جَاهِدِ الْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنٰفِقِيْنَ وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَمَاْوٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيْرُ

Yaa ayyuhaa an-nabiyyu jaahidi al-kuffaara wal-munaafiqeena waghluz 'alayhim wama'waahum jahannamu wabi'sa al-maseer

O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites, and be hard against them; and their abode is hell; and evil is the resort.

پیغمبر آپ کفار اور منافقین سے جہاد کریں اور ان پر سختی کریں اور ان کا ٹھکانا جہنّم ہے اور وہی بدترین انجام ہے۔

ضَرَبَ اللهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا امْرَاَتَ نُوْحٍ وَّامْرَاَتَ لُوْطٍ كَانَتَا تَحْتَ عَبْدَيْنِ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا صَالِحَيْنِ فَخَانَتٰهُمَا فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمَا مِنَ اللهِ شَيْئًا وَّقِيْلَ ادْخُلَا النَّارَ مَعَ الدّٰخِلِيْنَ

Daraba allaahu mathalan lillazeena kafaroo imra'ata noohin wamra'ata lootin kaanataa tahta 'abdayni min 'ibaadinaa saalihayni fakhaanataahumaa falam yughniyaa 'anhumaa mina allaahi shay'an waqeela udkhulaa an-naara ma'a ad-daakhileen

Allah sets forth an example to those who disbelieve the wife of Nuh and the wife of Lut: they were both under two of Our righteous servants, but they acted treacherously towards them so they availed them naught against Allah, and it was said: Enter both the fire with those who enter.

خدا نے کفر اختیار کرنے والوں کے لئے زوجہ نوح اور زوجہ لوط کی مثال بیان کی ہے کہ یہ دونوں ہمارے نیک بندوں کی زوجیت میں تھیں لیکن ان سے خیانت کی تو اس زوجیت نے خدا کی بارگاہ میں کوئی فائدہ نہیں پہنچایا اور ان سے کہہ دیا گیا کہ تم بھی تمام جہنّم میں داخل ہونے والوں کے ساتھ داخل ہو جاؤ۔

وَضَرَبَ اللهُ مَثَلًا لِّلَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوا امْرَاَتَ فِرْعَوْنَ اِذْ قَالَتْ رَبِّ ابْنِ لِيْ عِنْدَكَ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَنَجِّنِيْ مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ وَعَمَلِهٖ وَنَجِّنِيْ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الظّٰلِمِيْنَ

Wadaraba allaahu mathalan lillazeena aamanoo imra'ata fir'awna iz qaalat rabbi ibni lee 'indaka baytan fee al-jannati wanajjinee min fir'awna wa'amalihee wanajjinee mina al-qawmi az-zaalimeen

And Allah sets forth an example to those who believe the wife of Firon when she said: My Lord! build for me a house with Thee in the garden and deliver me from Firon and his doing, and deliver me from the unjust people:

اور خدا نے ایمان والوں کے لئے فرعون کی زوجہ کی مثال بیان کی ہے کہ اس نے دعا کی کہ پروردگار میرے لئے جنّت میں ایک گھر بنا دے اور مجھے فرعون اور اس کے کاروبار سے نجات دلا دے اور اس پوری ظالم قوم سے نجات عطا کر دے۔

وَمَرْيَمَ ابْنَتَ عِمْرٰنَ الَّتِيْٓ اَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيْهِ مِن رُّوْحِنَا وَصَدَّقَتْ بِكَلِمٰتِ رَبِّهَا وَكُتُبِهٖ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْقٰنِتِيْنَ

Wamaryama ibnata 'imraana allatee ahsanat farjahaa fanafakhnaa feehi min roohinaa wasaddaqat bikalimaati rabbihaa wakutubihee wakaanat mina al-qaaniteen

And Marium, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her of Our inspiration and she accepted the truth of the words of her Lord and His books, and she was of the obedient ones.

اور مریم بنت عمرانؑ کی مثال جس نے اپنی عفت کی حفاظت کی تو ہم نے اس میں اپنی روح پھونک دی اور اس نے اپنے رب کے کلمات اور کتابوں کی تصدیق کی اور وہ ہمارے فرمانبردار بندوں میں سے تھی۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
