Juz 29 (Sipara)جز (سیپارہ)-۲۹

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Blessed is He in Whose hand is the kingdom, and He has power over all things

بابرکت ہے وہ ذات جس کے ہاتھوں میں سارا ملک ہے اور وہ ہر شے پر قادر و مختار ہے۔

Who created death and life that He may try you- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving

اس نے موت و حیات کو اس لئے پیدا کیا ہے تاکہ تمہاری آزمائش کرے کہ تم میں حسن عمل کے اعتبار سے سب سے بہتر کون ہے اور وہ صاحبِ عزّت بھی ہے اور بخشنے والا بھی ہے۔

Who created the seven heavens one above another; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent God; then look again, can you see any disorder?

اسی نے سات آسمان تہ بہ تہ پیدا کئے ہیں اور تم رحمان کی خلقت میں کسی طرح کا فرق نہ دیکھو گے پھر دوبارہ نگاہ اٹھا کر دیکھو کہیں کوئی شگاف نظر آتا ہے۔

Then turn back the eye again and again; your look shall come back to you confused while it is fatigued.

اس کے بعد بار بار نگاہ ڈالو دیکھو نگاہ تھک کر پلٹ آئے گی لیکن کوئی عیب نظر نہ آئے گا۔

And certainly We have adorned this lower heaven with lamps and We have made these missiles for the Shaitans, and We have prepared for them the chastisement of burning.

ہم نے آسمانِ دنیا کو چراغوں سے مزیّن کیا ہے اور انہیں شیاطین کو سنگسار کرنے کا ذریعہ بنا دیا ہے اور ان کے لئے جہنّم کا عذاب الگ مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of hell, and evil is the resort.

اور جن لوگوں نے اپنے پروردگار کا انکار کیا ہے ان کے لئے جہنّم کا عذاب ہے اور وہی بدترین انجام ہے۔

When they shall be cast therein, they shall hear a loud moaning of it as it heaves

جب بھی وہ اس میں ڈالے جائیں گے اس کی چیخ سنیں گے اور وہ جوش مار رہا ہو گا۔

Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner?

بلکہ قریب ہو گا کہ جوش کی شدت سے پھٹ پڑے جب بھی اس میں کسی گروہ کو ڈالا جائے گا تو اس کے داروغہ ان سے پوچھیں گے کہ کیا تمہارے پاس کوئی ڈرانے والا نہیں آیا تھا۔

They shall say: Yea! indeed there came to us a warner, but we rejected (him) and said: Allah has not revealed anything, you are only in a great error.

تو وہ کہیں گے کہ آیا تو تھا لیکن ہم نے اسے جھٹلا دیا اور یہ کہہ دیا کہ اللہ نے کچھ بھی نازل نہیں کیا ہے تم لوگ خود بہت بڑی گمراہی میں مبتلا ہو۔

And they shall say: Had we but listened or pondered, we should not have been among the inmates of the burning fire.

اور پھر کہیں گے کہ اگر ہم بات سن لیتے اور سمجھتے ہوتے تو آج جہنّم والوں میں نہ ہوتے۔

So they shall acknowledge their sins, but far will be (forgiveness) from the inmates of the burning fire.

تو انہوں نے خود اپنے گناہ کا اقرار کر لیا تو اب جہنّم والوں کے لئے تو رحمت خدا سے دوری ہی دوری ہے۔

(As for) those who fear their Lord in secret, they shall surely have forgiveness and a great reward.

بےشک جو لوگ بغیر دیکھے اپنے پروردگار کا خوف رکھتے ہیں ان کے لئے مغفرت اور اجر عظیم ہے۔

And conceal your word or manifest it; surely He is Cognizant of what is in the hearts.

اور تم لوگ اپنی باتوں کو آہستہ کہو یا بلند آواز سے خدا تو سینوں کے رازوں کو بھی جانتا ہے۔

Does He not know, Who created? And He is the Knower of the subtleties, the Aware.

اور کیا پیدا کرنے والا نہیں جانتا ہے جب کہ وہ لطیف بھی ہے اور خبیر بھی ہے۔

He it is Who made the earth smooth for you, therefore go about in the spacious sides thereof, and eat of His sustenance, and to Him is the return after death.

اسی نے تمہارے لئے زمین کو نرم بنا دیا ہے کہ اس کے اطراف میں چلو اور رزقِ خدا تلاش کرو پھر اسی کی طرف قبروں سے اٹھ کر جانا ہے۔

Are you secure of those in the heaven that He should not make the earth to swallow you up? Then lo! it shall be in a state of commotion.

کیا تم آسمان میں حکومت کرنے والے کی طرف سے مطمئن ہو گئے کہ وہ تم کو زمین میں دھنسا دے اور وہ تمہیں گردش ہی دیتی رہے۔

Or are you secure of those in the heaven that He should not send down upon you a punishment? Then shall you know how was My warning.

یا تم اس کی طرف سے اس بات سے محفوظ ہو گئے کہ وہ تمہارے اوپر پتھروں کی بارش کر دے پھر تمہیں بہت جلد معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ میرا ڈرانا کیسا ہوتا ہے۔

And certainly those before them rejected (the truth), then how was My disapproval.

اور ان سے پہلے والوں نے بھی تکذیب کی ہے تو دیکھو کہ ان کا انجام کتنا بھیانک ہوا ہے۔

Have they not seen the birds above them expanding (their wings) and contracting (them)? What is it that withholds them save the Beneficent God? Surely He sees everything.

کیا ان لوگوں نے اپنے اوپر ان پرندوں کو نہیں دیکھا ہے جو پر پھیلا دیتے ہیں اور سمیٹ لیتے ہیں کہ انہیں اس فضا میں اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں سنبھال سکتا کہ وہی ہر شے کی نگرانی کرنے والا ہے۔

Or who is it that will be a host for you to assist you besides the Beneficent God? The unbelievers are only in deception.

کیا یہ جو تمہاری فوج بنا ہوا ہے خدا کے مقابلہ میں تمہاری مدد کر سکتا ہے۔ بےشک کفار صرف دھوکہ میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

Or who is it that will give you sustenance if He should withhold His sustenance? Nay! they persist in disdain and aversion.

یا یہ تم کو روزی دے سکتا ہے اگر خدا اپنی روزی کو روک لے، حقیقت یہ ہے کہ یہ لوگ نافرمانی اور نفرت میں غرق ہو گئے ہیں۔

What! is he who goes prone upon his face better guided or he who walks upright upon a straight path?

کیا وہ شخص جو منہ کے بل چلتا ہے وہ زیادہ ہدایت یافتہ ہے یا جو سیدھے سیدھے صراطِ مستقیم پر چل رہا ہے۔

Say: He it is Who brought you into being and made for you the ears and the eyes and the hearts: little is it that you give thanks.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ خدا ہی نے تمہیں پیدا کیا ہے اور اسی نے تمہارے لئے کان آنکھ اور دل قرار دیئے ہیں مگر تم بہت کم شکریہ ادا کرنے والے ہو۔

Say: He it is Who multiplied you in the earth and to Him you shall be gathered.

کہہ دیجئے کہ وہی وہ ہے جس نے زمین میں تمہیں پھیلا دیا ہے اور اسی کی طرف تمہیں جمع کر کے لے جایا جائے گا۔

And they say: When shall this threat be (executed) if you are truthful?

اور یہ لوگ کہتے ہیں کہ اگر تم لوگ سچے ہو تو یہ وعدہ کب پورا ہو گا۔

Say: The knowledge (thereof) is only with Allah and I am only a plain warner.

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ علم اللہ کے پاس ہے اور میں تو صرف واضح طور پر ڈرانے والا ہوں۔

But when they shall see it nigh, the faces of those who disbelieve shall be sorry, and it shall be said; This is that which you used to call for.

پھر جب اس قیامت کے عذاب کو قریب دیکھیں گے تو کافروں کے چہرے بگڑ جائیں گے اور ان سے کہا جائے گا کہ یہی وہ عذاب ہے جس کے تم خواستگار تھے۔

Say: Have you considered if Allah should destroy me and those with me- rather He will have mercy on us; yet who will protect the unbelievers from a painful punishment?

آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ تمہارا کیا خیال ہے کہ خدا مجھے اور میرے ساتھیوں کو ہلاک کر دے یا ہم پر رحم کرے تو ان کافروں کا درد ناک عذاب سے بچانے والا کون ہے۔

Say: He is the Beneficent God, we believe in Him and on Him do we rely, so you shall come to know who it is that is in clear error.

کہہ دیجئے کہ وہی خدائے رحمان ہے جس پر ہم ایمان لائے ہیں اور اسی پر ہمارا بھروسہ ہے پھر عنقریب تمہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ کھلی ہوئی گمراہی میں کون ہے۔

Say: Have you considered if your water should go down, who is it then that will bring you flowing water?

کہہ دیجئے کہ تمہارا کیا خیال ہے اگر تمہارا سارا پانی زمین کے اندر جذب ہو جائے تو تمہارے لئے چشمہ کا پانی بہا کر کون لائے گا۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Noon. I swear by the pen and what the angels write

نۤ، قلم اور اس چیز کی قسم جو یہ لکھ رہے ہیں۔

By the grace of your Lord you are not mad.

آپ اپنے پروردگار کی نعمت کے طفیل مجنون نہیں ہیں۔

And most surely you shall have a reward never to be cut off.

اور آپ کے لئے کبھی نہ ختم ہونے والا اجر ہے۔

And most surely you conform (yourself) to sublime morality.

اور آپ بلند ترین اخلاق کے درجہ پر ہیں۔

So you shall see, and they (too) shall see

عنقریب آپ بھی دیکھیں گے اور وہ بھی دیکھ لیں گے۔

Which of you is afflicted with madness.

کہ دیوانہ کون ہے۔

Surely your Lord best knows him who errs from His way, and He best knows the followers of the right course.

آپ کا پروردگار بہتر جانتا ہے کہ کون اس کے راستہ سے بہک گیا ہے اور کون ہدایت یافتہ ہے۔

So do not yield to the rejecters.

لہذا آپ جھٹلانے والوں کی اطاعت نہ کریں۔

They wish that you should be pliant so they (too) would be pliant.

یہ چاہتے ہیں کہ آپ ذرا نرم ہو جائیں تو یہ بھی نرم ہو جائیں۔

And yield not to any mean swearer

اور خبردار آپ کسی بھی مسلسل قسم کھانے والے ذلیل۔

Defamer, going about with slander

عیب جو اور اعلٰی درجہ کے چغلخور۔

Forbidder of good, outstepping the limits, sinful

مال میں بیحد بخل کرنے والے، تجاوز گناہگار۔

Ignoble, besides all that, base-born;

بدمزاج اور اس کے بعد بدنسل کی اطاعت نہ کریں۔

Because he possesses wealth and sons.

صرف اس بات پر کہ یہ صاحبِ مال و اولاد ہے۔

When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore.

جب اس کے سامنے آیاتِ الٰہیہ کی تلاوت کی جاتی ہے تو کہہ دیتا ہے کہ یہ سب اگلے لوگوں کی داستانیں ہیں۔

We will brand him on the nose.

ہم عنقریب اس کی ناک پر نشان لگا دیں گے۔

Surely We will try them as We tried the owners of the garden, when they swore that they would certainly cut off the produce in the morning

ہم نے ان کو اسی طرح آزمایا ہے جس طرح باغ والوں کو آزمایا تھا جب انہوں نے قسم کھائی تھی کہ صبح کو پھل توڑ لیں گے۔

And were not willing to set aside a portion (for the poor).

اور انشاء اللہ نہیں کہیں گے۔

Then there encompassed it a visitation from your Lord while they were sleeping.

تو خدا کی طرف سے راتوں رات ایک بلا نے چکر لگایا جب یہ سب سو رہے تھے۔

So it became as black, barren land.

اور سارا باغ جل کر کالی رات جیسا ہو گیا۔

And they called out to each other in the morning

پھر صبح کو ایک نے دوسرے کو آواز دی۔

Saying: Go early to your tilth if you would cut (the produce).

کہ پھل توڑنا ہے تو اپنے اپنے کھیت کی طرف چلو۔

So they went, while they consulted together secretly

پھر سب گئے اس عالم میں کہ آپس میں راز دارانہ باتیں کر رہے تھے۔

Saying: No poor man shall enter it today upon you.

کہ خبردار آج باغ میں کوئی مسکین داخل نہ ہونے پائے۔

And in the morning they went, having the power to prevent.

اور روک تھام کا بندوبست کر کے صبح سویرے پہنچ گئے۔

But when they saw it, they said: Most surely we have gone astray.

اب جو باغ کو دیکھا تو کہنے لگے کہ ہم تو بہک گئے۔

Nay! we are made to suffer privation.

بلکہ بالکل محروم ہو گئے۔

The best of them said: Did I not say to you, Why do you not glorify (Allah)?

تو ان کے منصف مزاج نے کہا کہ میں نے نہ کہا تھا کہ تم لوگ تسبیح پروردگار کیوں نہیں کرتے۔

They said: Glory be to our Lord, surely we were unjust.

کہنے لگے کہ ہمارا رب پاک و بے نیاز ہے اور ہم واقعًا ظالم تھے۔

Then some of them advanced against others, blaming each other.

پھر ایک نے دوسرے کو ملامت کرنا شروع کر دی۔

Said they: O woe to us! surely we were inordinate:

کہنے لگے کہ افسوس ہم بالکل سرکش تھے۔

Maybe, our Lord will give us instead one better than it; surely to our Lord do we make our humble petition.

شائد ہمارا پروردگار ہمیں اس سے بہتر دے دے کہ ہم اس کی طرف رغبت کرنے والے ہیں۔

Such is the chastisement, and certainly the chastisement of the hereafter is greater, did they but know!

اسی طرح عذاب نازل ہوتا ہے اور آخرت کا عذاب تو اس سے بڑا ہے اگر انہیں علم ہو۔

Surely those who guard (against evil) shall have with their Lord gardens of bliss.

بےشک صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے پروردگار کے یہاں نعمتوں کی جنّت ہے۔

What! shall We then make (i.e. treat) those who submit as the guilty?

کیا ہم اطاعت گزاروں کو مجرموں جیسا بنا دیں۔

What has happened to you? How do you judge?

تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کیسا فیصلہ کر رہے ہو۔

Or have you a book wherein you read

یا تمہاری کوئی کتاب ہے جس میں یہ سب پڑھا کرتے ہو۔

That you have surely therein what you choose?

کہ وہاں تمہاری پسند کی ساری چیزیں حاضر ملیں گی۔

Or have you received from Us an agreement confirmed by an oath extending to the day of resurrection that you shall surely have what you demand?

یا تم نے ہم سے روزِ قیامت تک کی قسمیں لے رکھی ہیں کہ تمہیں وہ سب کچھ ملے گا جس کا تم فیصلہ کرو گے۔

Ask them which of them will vouch for that

ان سے پوچھئے کہ ان سب باتوں کا ذمہ دار کون ہے۔

Or have they some associates. Then let them bring their associates if they are truthful.

یا ان کے لئے شرکاء ہیں تو اگر یہ سچے ہیں تو اپنے شرکاء کو لے آئیں۔

On the day when there shall be a severe affliction, and they shall be called upon to make obeisance, but they shall not be able

جس دن پنڈلی کھول دی جائے گی اور انہیں سجدوں کی دعوت دی جائے گی اور یہ سجدہ بھی نہ کر سکیں گے۔

Their looks cast down, abasement shall overtake them; and they were called upon to make obeisance indeed while yet they were safe.

ان کی نگاہیں شرم سے جھکی ہوں گی ذلّت ان پر چھائی ہو گی اور انہیں اس وقت بھی سجدوں کی دعوت دی جا رہی تھی جب یہ بالکل صحیح و سالم تھے۔

So leave Me and him who rejects this announcement; We will overtake them by degrees, from whence they perceive not:

تو اب مجھے اور اس بات کے جھٹلانے والوں کو چھوڑ دو ہم عنقریب انہیں اس طرح گرفتار کریں گے کہ انہیں اندازہ بھی نہ ہو گا۔

And I do bear with them, surely My plan is firm.

اور ہم تو اس لئے ڈھیل دے رہے ہیں کہ ہماری تدبیر مضبوط ہے۔

Or do you ask from them a reward, so that they are burdened with debt?

کیا آپ ان سے مزدوری مانگ رہے ہیں جو یہ اس کے تاوان کے بوجھ سے دبے جا رہے ہیں۔

Or have they (the knowledge of) the unseen, so that they write (it) down?

یا ان کے پاس کوئی غیب ہے جسے یہ لکھ رہے ہیں۔

So wait patiently for the judgment of your Lord, and be not like the companion of the fish, when he cried while he was in distress.

اب آپ اپنے پروردگار کے حکم کے لئے صبر کریں اور صاحبِ (قومِ یونس) حوت جیسے نہ ہو جائیں جب انہوں نے نہایت غصّہ کے عالم میں آواز دی تھی۔

Were it not that favor from his Lord had overtaken him, he would certainly have been cast down upon the naked ground while he was blamed.

کہ اگر انہیں نعمتِ پروردگار نے سنبھال نہ لیا ہوتا تو انہیں چٹیل میدان میں برے حالوں میں چھوڑ دیا جاتا۔

Then his Lord chose him, and He made him of the good.

پھر ان کے رب نے انہیں منتخب کر کے نیک کرداروں میں قرار دے دیا۔

And those who disbelieve would almost smite you with their eyes when they hear the reminder, and they say: Most surely he is mad.

اور یہ کفّار قرآن کو سنتے ہیں تو ایسا لگتا ہے کہ عنقریب آپ کو نظروں سے پھسلا دیں گے اور یہ کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تو دیوانے ہیں۔

And it is naught but a reminder to the nations.

حالانکہ یہ قرآن عالمین کے لئے نصیحت ہے اور بس۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

The sure calamity!

یقینًا پیش آنے والی قیامت۔

What is the sure calamity!

اور کیسی پیش آنے والی۔

And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is!

اور تم کیا جانو کہ یہ یقینًا پیش آنے والی شے کیا ہے۔

Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie.

قوم ثمود و عاد نے اس کھڑ کھڑانے والی کا انکار کیا تھا۔

Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment.

تو ثمود ایک چنگھاڑ کے ذریعہ ہلاک کر دیئے گئے۔

And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast.

اور عاد کو انتہائی تیز و تند آندھی سے برباد کر دیا گیا۔

Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms.

جسے ان کے اوپر سات رات اور آٹھ دن کے لئے مسلسل مسخّرکر دیا گیا تو تم دیکھتے ہو کہ قوم بالکل مردہ پڑی ہوئی ہے جیسے کھوکھلے کھجور کے درخت کے تنے۔

Do you then see of them one remaining?

تو کیا تم ان کا کوئی باقی رہنے والا حصّہ دیکھ رہے ہو۔

And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins.

اور فرعون اور اس سے پہلے اور الٹی بستیوں والے سب نے غلطیوں کا ارتکاب کیا ہے۔

And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment.

کہ پروردگار کے نمائندہ کی نافرمانی کی تو پروردگار نے انہیں بڑی سختی سے پکڑ لیا۔

Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high

ہم نے تم کو اس وقت کشتی میں اٹھا لیا تھا جب پانی سر سے چڑھ رہا تھا۔

So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it.

تاکہ اسے تمہارے لئے نصیحت بنائیں اور محفوظ رکھنے والے کان سن لیں۔

And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast

پھر جب صور میں پہلی مرتبہ پھونکا جائے گا۔

And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing.

اور زمین اور پہاڑوں کو اکھاڑ کر ٹکرا کر ریزہ ریزہ کر دیا جائے گا۔

On that day shall the great event come to pass

تو اس دن قیامت واقع ہو جائے گی۔

And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail,

اور آسمان شق ہو کر بالکل پھس پھسے ہو جائیں گے۔

And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord’s power.

اور فرشتے اس کے اطراف پر ہوں گے اور عرشِ الہٰی کو اس دن آٹھ فرشتے اٹھائے ہوں گے۔

On that day you shall be exposed to view- no secret of yours shall remain hidden.

اس دن تم کو منظرِ عام پر لایا جائے گا اور تمہاری کوئی بات پوشیدہ نہ رہے گی۔

Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book:

پھر جس کو نامئہ اعمال داہنے ہاتھ میں دیا جائے گا وہ سب سے کہے گا کہ ذرا میرا نامئہ اعمال تو پڑھو۔

Surely I knew that I shall meet my account.

مجھے پہلے ہی معلوم تھا کہ میرا حساب مجھے ملنے والا ہے۔

So he shall be in a life of pleasure

پھر وہ پسندیدہ زندگی میں ہو گا۔

In a lofty garden

بلند ترین باغات میں۔

The fruits of which are near at hand:

اس کے میوے قریب قریب ہوں گے۔

Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by.

اب آرام سے کھاؤ پیو کہ تم نے گزشتہ دنوں میں ان نعمتوں کا انتظام کیا ہے۔

And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me:

لیکن جس کو نامئہ اعمال بائیں ہاتھ میں دیا جائے گا وہ کہے گا اے کاش یہ نامہ اعمال مجھے نہ دیا جاتا۔

And I had not known what my account was:

اور مجھے اپنا حساب نہ معلوم ہوتا۔

O would that it had made an end (of me):

اے کاش اس موت ہی نے میرا فیصلہ کر دیا ہوتا۔

My wealth has availed me nothing:

میرا مال بھی میرے کام نہ آیا۔

My authority is gone away from me.

اور میری حکومت بھی برباد ہو گئی۔

Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him

اب اسے پکڑو اور گرفتار کر لو۔

Then cast him into the burning fire

پھر اسے جہنّم میں جھونک دو۔

Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits.

پھر ایک ستر گز کی رسی میں اسے جکڑ لو۔

Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great

یہ خدائے عظیم پر ایمان نہیں رکھتا تھا۔

Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.

اور لوگوں کو مسکینوں کو کھلانے پر آمادہ نہیں کرتا تھا۔

Therefore he has not here today a true friend

تو آج اس کا یہاں کوئی غمخوار نہیں ہے۔

Nor any food except refuse

اور نہ پیپ کے علاوہ کوئی غذا ہے۔

Which none but the wrongdoers eat.

جسے گناہ گاروں کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں کھا سکتا۔

But nay! I swear by that which you see

میں اس کی بھی قسم کھاتا ہوں جسے تم دیکھ رہے ہو۔

And that which you do not see.

اور اس کی بھی جس کو نہیں دیکھ رہے ہو۔

Most surely, it is the Word brought by an honored Apostle

کہ یہ ایک محترم فرشتے کا بیان ہے۔

And it is not the word of a poet; little is it that you believe;

اور یہ کسی شاعر کا قول نہیں ہے ہاں تم بہت کم ایمان لاتے ہو۔

Nor the word of a soothsayer; little is it that you mind.

اور یہ کسی کاہن کا کلام نہیں ہے جس پر تم بہت کم غور کرتے ہو۔

It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

یہ رب العالمین کا نازل کردہ ہے۔

And if he had fabricated against Us some of the sayings

اور اگر یہ پیغمبر ہماری طرف سے کوئی بات گڑھ لیتا۔

We would certainly have seized him by the right hand

تو ہم اس کے ہاتھ کو پکڑ لیتے۔

Then We would certainly have cut off his aorta.

اور پھر اس کی گردن اڑا دیتے۔

And not one of you could have withheld Us from him.

پھر تم میں سے کوئی مجھے روکنے والا نہ ہوتا۔

And most surely it is a reminder for those who guard (against evil).

اور یہ قرآن صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے نصیحت ہے۔

And most surely We know that some of you are rejecters.

اور ہم جانتے ہیں کہ تم میں سے جھٹلانے والے بھی ہیں۔

And most surely it is a great grief to the unbelievers.

اور یہ کافرین کے لئے باعثِ حسرت ہے۔

And most surely it is the true certainty.

اور یہ بالکل یقینی چیز ہے۔

Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great.

لہذا آپ اپنے عظیم پروردگار کے نام کی تسبیح کریں۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

One demanding, demanded the chastisement which must befall

ایک مانگنے والے نے واقع ہونے والے عذاب کا سوال کیا۔

The unbelievers- there is none to avert it-

جس کا کافروں کے حق میں کوئی دفع کرنے والا نہیں ہے۔

From Allah, the Lord of the ways of Ascent.

یہ بلندیوں والے خدا کی طرف سے ہے۔

To Him ascend the angels and the Spirit in a day the measure of which is fifty thousand years.

جس کی طرف فرشتے اور روح الامین بلند ہوتے ہیں اس ایک دن میں جس کی مقدار پچاس ہزار سال کے برابر ہے۔

Therefore endure with a goodly patience.

لہذا آپ بہترین صبر سے کام لیں۔

Surely they think it to be far off

یہ لوگ اسے دور سمجھ رہے ہیں۔

And We see it nigh.

اور ہم اسے قریب ہی دیکھ رہے ہیں۔

On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper

جس دن آسمان پگھلے ہوئے تانبے کے مانند ہو جائے گا۔

And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool

اور پہاڑ دھنکے ہوئے اون جیسے۔

And friend shall not ask of friend

اور کوئی ہمدرد کسی ہمدرد کا پرسانِ حال نہ ہو گا۔

(Though) they shall be made to see each other. The guilty one would fain redeem himself from the chastisement of that day by (sacrificing) his children

وہ سب ایک دوسرے کو دکھائے جائیں گے تو مجرم چاہے گا کہ کاش آج کے دن کے عذاب کے بدلے اس کی اولاد کو لے لیا جائے۔

And his wife and his brother

اور بیوی اور بھائی کو۔

And the nearest of his kinsfolk who gave him shelter

اور اس کنبہ کو جس میں وہ رہتا تھا۔

And all those that are in the earth, (wishing) then (that) this might deliver him.

اور روئے زمین کی ساری مخلوقات کو اور اسے نجات دے دی جائے۔

By no means! Surely it is a flaming fire

ہرگز نہیں یہ آتش جہنّم ہے۔

Dragging by the head

کھال اتار دینے والی۔

It shall claim him who turned and fled (from truth)

ان سب کو آواز دے رہی ہے جو منہ پھیر کر جانے والے تھے۔

And amasses (wealth) then shuts it up.

اور جنہوں نے مال جمع کر کے بند کر رکھا تھا۔

Surely man is created of a hasty temperament;

بےشک انسان بڑا لالچی ہے۔

Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him

جب تکلیف پہنچ جاتی ہے تو فریادی بن جاتا ہے۔

And miserly when good befalls him

اور جب مال مل جاتا ہے تو بخیل ہو جاتا ہے۔

Except those who pray

علاوہ ان نمازیوں کے۔

Those who are constant at their prayer

جو اپنی نمازوں کی پابندی کرنے والے ہیں۔

And those in whose wealth there is a fixed portion.

اور جن کے اموال میں ایک مقررہ حق معین ہے۔

For him who begs and for him who is denied (good)

مانگنے والے کے لئے اور نہ مانگنے والے کے لئے۔

And those who accept the truth of the judgment day

اور جو لوگ روزِ قیامت کی تصدیق کرنے والے ہیں۔

And those who are fearful of the chastisement of their Lord-

اور جو اپنے پروردگار کے عذاب سے ڈرنے والے ہیں۔

Surely the chastisement of their Lord is (a thing) not to be felt secure of-

بےشک عذابِ پروردگار بے خوف رہنے والی چیز نہیں ہے۔

And those who guard their private parts

اور جو اپنی شرمگاہوں کی حفاظت کرنے والے ہیں۔

Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess- for these surely are not to be blamed

علاوہ اپنی بیویوں اور کنیزوں کے کہ اس پر ملامت نہیں کی جاتی ہے۔

But he who seeks to go beyond this, these it is that go beyond the limits-

پھر جو اس کے علاوہ کا خواہشمند ہو وہ حد سے گزر جانے والا ہے۔

And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant

اور جو اپنی امانتوں اور عہد کا خیال رکھنے والے ہیں۔

And those who are upright in their testimonies

اور جو اپنی گواہیوں پر قائم رہنے والے ہیں۔

And those who keep a guard on their prayer

اور جو اپنی نمازوں کا خیال رکھنے والے ہیں۔

Those shall be in gardens, honored.

یہی لوگ جنّت میں باعزّت طریقہ سے رہنے والے ہیں۔

But what is the matter with those who disbelieve that they hasten on around you

پھر ان کافروں کو کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ آپ کی طرف بھاگے چلے آرہے ہیں۔

On the right hand and on the left, in sundry parties?

دائیں بائیں سے گروہ در گروہ۔

Does every man of them desire that he should be made to enter the garden of bliss?

کیا ان میں سے ہر ایک کی طمع یہ ہے کہ اسے جنّت النعیم میں داخل کر دیا جائے۔

By no means! Surely We have created them of what they know.

ہرگز نہیں انہیں تو معلوم ہے کہ ہم نے انہیں کس چیز سے پیدا کیا ہے۔

But nay! I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests that We are certainly able

میں تمام مشرق و مغرب کے پروردگار کی قسم کھا کر کہتا ہوں کہ ہم قدرت رکھنے والے ہیں۔

To bring instead (others) better than them, and We shall not be overcome.

اس بات پر کہ ان کے بدلے ان سے بہتر افراد لے آئیں اور ہم عاجز نہیں ہیں۔

Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened;

لہذا انہیں چھوڑ دیجئے یہ اپنے باطل میں ڈوبے رہیں اور کھیل تماشہ کرتے رہیں یہاں تک کہ اس دن سے ملاقات کریں جس کا وعدہ کیا گیا ہے۔

The day on which they shall come forth from their graves in haste, as if they were hastening on to a goal

جس دن یہ سب قبروں سے تیزی کے ساتھ نکلیں گے جس طرح کسی پرچم کی طرف بھاگے جا رہے ہوں۔

Their eyes cast down; disgrace shall overtake them; that is the day which they were threatened with.

ان کی نگاہیں جھکی ہوں گی اور ذلت ان پر چھائی ہو گی اور یہی وہ دن ہو گا جس کا ان سے وعدہ کیا گیا ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Surely We sent Nuh to his people, saying: Warn your people before there come upon them a painful chastisement.

بےشک ہم نے نوحؑ کو ان کی قوم کی طرف بھیجا کہ اپنی قوم کو درد ناک عذاب کے آنے سے پہلے ڈراؤ۔

He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you:

انہوں نے کہا اے قوم میں تمہارے لئے واضح طور پر ڈرانے والا ہوں۔

That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me:

کہ اللہ کی عبادت کرو اس سے ڈرو اور میری اطاعت کرو۔

He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know!

وہ تمہارے گناہوں کو بخش دے گا اور تمہیں ایک مقررہ وقت تک باقی رکھے گا اللہ کا مقررہ وقت جب آجائے گا تو وہ ٹالا نہیں جا سکتا ہے اگر تم کچھ جانتے ہو۔

He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day!

انہوں نے کہا پروردگار میں نے اپنی قوم کو دن میں بھی بلایا اور رات میں بھی۔

But my call has only made them flee the more:

پھر بھی میری دعوت کا کوئی اثر سوائے اس کے نہ ہوا کہ انہوں نے فرار اختیار کیا۔

And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride:

اور میں نے جب بھی انہیں دعوت دی کہ تو انہیں معاف کر دے تو انہوں نے اپنی انگلیوں کو کانوں میں رکھ لیا اور اپنے کپڑے اوڑھ لئے اور اپنی بات پر اڑ گئے اور شدت سے اکڑے رہے۔

Then surely I called to them aloud:

پھر میں نے ان کو علی الاعلان دعوت دی۔

Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret:

پھر میں نے اعلان بھی کیا اور خفیہ طور سے بھی دعوت دی۔

Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving:

اور کہا کہ اپنے پروردگار سے استغفار کرو کہ وہ بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا ہے۔

He will send down upon you the cloud, pouring down abundance of rain:

وہ تم پر موسلا دھار پانی برسائے گا۔

And help you with wealth and sons, and make for you gardens, and make for you rivers.

اور اموال و اولاد کے ذریعہ تمہاری مدد کرے گا اور تمہارے لئے باغات اور نہریں قرار دے گا۔

What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah?

آخر تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ تم خدا کی عظمت کا خیال نہیں کرتے ہو۔

And indeed He has created you through various grades:

جب کہ اسی نے تمہیں مختلف انداز میں پیدا کیا ہے

Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ خدا نے کس طرح تہ بہ تہ سات آسمان بنائے ہیں۔

And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp?

اور قمر کو ان میں روشنی اور سورج کو روشن چراغ بنایا ہے۔

And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth:

اور اللہ ہی نے تم کو زمین سے پیدا کیا ہے۔

Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth:

پھر تمہیں اسی میں لے جائے گا اور پھر نئی شکل میں نکالے گا۔

And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse

اور اللہ ہی نے تمہارے لئے زمین کو فرش بنا دیا ہے۔

That you may go along therein in wide paths.

تاکہ تم اس میں مختلف کشادہ راستوں پر چلو۔

Nuh said: My Lord! surely they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children have added to him nothing but loss.

اور نوحؑ نے کہا کہ پروردگار ان لوگوں نے میری نافرمانی کی ہے اور اس کا اتباع کر لیا ہے جو مال و اولاد میں سوائے گھاٹے کے کچھ نہیں دے سکتا ہے۔

And they have planned a very great plan.

اور ان لوگوں نے بہت بڑا مکر کیا ہے۔

And they say: By no means leave your gods, nor leave Wadd, nor Suwa; nor Yaghus, and Yauq and Nasr.

اور لوگوں سے کہا ہے کہ خبردار اپنے خداؤں کو مت چھوڑ دینا اور ود، سواع، یغوث، یعوق، نسر کو نظرانداز نہ کر دینا۔

And indeed they have led astray many, and do not increase the unjust in aught but error.

انہوں نے بہت سوں کو گمراہ کر دیا ہے اب تو ظالموں کے لئے ہلاکت کے علاوہ کوئی اضافہ نہ کرنا۔

Because of their wrongs they were drowned, then made to enter fire, so they did not find any helpers besides Allah.

یہ سب اپنی غلطیوں کی بنا پر غرق کئے گئے ہیں اور پھر جہنّم میں داخل کر دیئے گئے ہیں اور خدا کے علاوہ انہیں کوئی مدد گار نہیں ملا ہے۔

And Nuh said: My Lord! leave not upon the land any dweller from among the unbelievers:

اور نوحؑ نے کہا کہ پروردگار اس زمین پر کافروں میں سے کسی بسنے والے کو نہ چھوڑنا۔

For surely if Thou leave them they will lead astray Thy servants, and will not beget any but immoral, ungrateful (children)

کہ اگر تو انہیں چھوڑ دے گا تو تیرے بندوں کو گمراہ کریں گے اور فاجر و کافر کے علاوہ کوئی اولاد بھی نہ پیدا کریں گے۔

My Lord! forgive me and my parents and him who enters my house believing, and the believing men and the believing women; and do not increase the unjust in aught but destruction!

پروردگار مجھے اور میرے والدین کو اور جو ایمان کے ساتھ میرے گھر میں داخل ہو جائیں اور تمام مومنین و مومنات کو بخش دے اور ظالموں کے لئے ہلاکت کے علاوہ کسی شے میں اضافہ نہ کرنا۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Say: It has been revealed to me that a party of the jinn listened, and they said: Surely we have heard a wonderful Quran

پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ میری طرف یہ وحی کی گئی ہے کہ جنوں کی ایک جماعت نے کان لگا کر قرآن کو سنا تو کہنے لگے کہ ہم نے ایک بڑا عجیب قرآن سنا ہے۔

Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up anyone with our Lord:

جو نیکی کی ہدایت کرتا ہے تو ہم تو اس پر ایمان لے آئے ہیں اور کسی کو اپنے رب کا شریک نہ بنائیں گے۔

And that He- exalted be the majesty of our Lord- has not taken a consort, nor a son:

اور ہمارے رب کی شان بہت بلند ہے اس نے کسی کو اپنی بیوی بنایا ہے نہ بیٹا۔

And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah:

اور ہمارے بیوقوف لوگ طرح طرح کی بے ربط باتیں کر رہے ہیں۔

And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah:

اور ہمارا خیال تو یہی تھا کہ انسان اور جنّات خدا کے خلاف جھوٹ نہ بولیں گے۔

And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing:

اور یہ کہ انسانوں میں سے کچھ لوگ جنّات کے بعض لوگوں کی پناہ ڈھونڈ رہے تھے تو انہوں نے گرفتاری میں اور اضافہ کر دیا۔

And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone:

اور یہ کہ تمہاری طرح ان کا بھی خیال تھا کہ خدا کسی کو دوبارہ نہیں زندہ کرے گا۔

And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars.

اور ہم نے آسمان کو دیکھا تو اسے سخت قسم کے نگہبانوں اور شعلوں سے بھرا ہوا پایا۔

And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him:

اور ہم پہلے بعض مقامات پر بیٹھ کر باتیں سن لیا کرتے تھے لیکن اب کوئی سننا چاہے گا تو اپنے لئے شعلوں کو تیار پائے گا۔

And that we know not whether evil is meant for those who are on earth or whether their Lord means to bring them good:

اور ہمیں نہیں معلوم کہ اہل زمین کے لئے اس سے برائی مقصود ہے یا نیکی کا ارادہ کیا گیا ہے۔

And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways:

اور ہم میں سے بعض نیک کردار ہیں اور بعض کے علاوہ ہیں ہم طرح طرح کے گروہ ہیں۔

And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight:

اور ہمارا خیال ہے کہ ہم زمین میں خدا کو عاجز نہیں کر سکتے اور نہ بھاگ کر اسے اپنی گرفت سے عاجز کر سکتے ہیں۔

And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace):

اور ہم نے ہدایت کو سنا تو ہم تو ایمان لے آئے اب جو بھی اپنے پروردگار پر ایمان لائے گا اسے نہ خسارہ کا خوف ہو گا اور نہ ظلم و زیادتی کا۔

And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way:

اور ہم میں سے بعض اطاعت گزار ہیں اور بعض نافرمان اور جو اطاعت گزار ہو گا اس نے ہدایت کی راہ پالی ہے۔

And as to the deviators, they are fuel of hell:

اور نافرمان تو جہنّم کے کندے ہو گئے ہیں۔

And that if they should keep to the (right) way, We would certainly give them to drink of abundant water

اور اگر یہ لوگ سب ہدایت کے راستے پر ہوتے تو ہم انہیں وافر پانی سے سیراب کرتے۔

So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement:

تاکہ ان کا امتحان لے سکیں اور جو بھی اپنے رب کے ذکر سے اعراض کرے گا اسے سخت عذاب کے راستے پر چلنا پڑے گا۔

And that the mosques are Allah’s, therefore call not upon anyone with Allah:

اور مساجد سب اللہ کے لئے ہیں لہذا اس کے علاوہ کسی کی عبادت نہ کرنا۔

And that when the servant of Allah stood up calling upon Him, they wellnigh crowded him (to death).

اور یہ کہ جب بندہ خدا عبادت کے لئے کھڑا ہوا تو قریب تھا کہ لوگ اس کے گرد ہجوم کر کے گر پڑتے۔

Say: I only call upon my Lord, and I do not associate anyone with Him.

پیغمبر آپ کہہ دیجئے کہ میں صرف اپنے پروردگار کی عبادت کرتا ہوں اور کسی کو اس کا شریک نہیں بناتا ہوں۔

Say: I do not control for you evil or good.

کہہ دیجئے کہ میں تمہارے لئے کسی نقصان کا اختیار رکھتا ہوں اور نہ فائدہ کا۔

Say: Surely no one can protect me against Allah, nor can I find besides Him any place of refuge:

کہہ دیجئے کہ اللہ کے مقابلہ میں میرا بھی بچانے والا کوئی نہیں ہے اور نہ میں کوئی پناہ گاہ پاتا ہوں۔

(It is) only a delivering (of communications) from Allah and His messages; and whoever disobeys Allah and His Apostle surely he shall have the fire of hell to abide therein for a long time.

مگر یہ کہ اپنے رب کے احکام اور پیغام کو پہنچا دوں اور جو اللہ و رسول کی نافرمانی کرے گا اس کے لئے جہنّم ہے اور وہ اسی میں ہمیشہ رہنے والا ہے۔

Until when they see what they are threatened with, then shall they know who is weaker in helpers and fewer in number.

یہاں تک کہ جب ان لوگوں نے اس عذاب کو دیکھ لیا جس کا وعدہ کیا گیا تھا تو انہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا کہ کس کے مدد گار کمزور اور کس کی تعداد کمتر ہے۔

Say: I do not know whether that with which you are threatened be nigh or whether my Lord will appoint for it a term:

کہہ دیجئے کہ مجھے نہیں معلوم کہ وہ وعدہ قریب ہی ہے یا ابھی خدا کوئی اور مدّت بھی قرار دے گا۔

The Knower of the unseen! so He does not reveal His secrets to any

وہ عالم الغیب ہے اور اپنے غیب پر کسی کو بھی مطلع نہیں کرتا ہے۔

Except to him whom He chooses as an apostle; for surely He makes a guard to march before him and after him

مگر جس رسول کو پسند کر لے تو اس کے آگے پیچھے نگہبان فرشتے مقرر کر دیتا ہے۔

So that He may know that they have truly delivered the messages of their Lord, and He encompasses what is with them, and He records the number of all things.

تاکہ وہ دیکھ لے کہ انہوں نے اپنے رب کے پیغامات کو پہنچا دیا ہے اور وہ جس کے پاس جو کچھ بھی ہے اس پر حاوی ہے اور سب کے اعداد کا حساب رکھنے والا ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

O you who have wrapped up in your garments!

اے میرے چادر لپیٹنے والے۔

Rise to pray in the night except a little

رات کو اٹھو مگر ذرا کم۔

Half of it, or lessen it a little

آدھی رات یا اس سے بھی کچھ کم کر دو۔

Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited.

یا کچھ زیادہ کر دو اور قرآن کو ٹھہر ٹھہر کر باقاعدہ پڑھو۔

Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word.

ہم عنقریب تمہارے اوپر ایک سنگین حکم نازل کرنے والے ہیں۔

Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech.

بےشک رات کا اُٹھنا نفس کی پامالی کے لئے بہترین ذریعہ اور ذکر کا بہترین وقت ہے۔

Surely you have in the daytime a long occupation.

یقینًا آپ کے لئے دن میں بہت سی مشغولیات ہیں۔

And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion.

اور آپ اپنے رب کے نام کا ذکر کریں اور اسی کے ہو رہیں۔

The Lord of the East and the West- there is no god but He- therefore take Him for a protector.

وہ مشرق و مغرب کا مالک ہے اور اس کے علاوہ کوئی خدا نہیں ہے لہذا آپ اسی کو اپنا نگراں بنا لیں۔

And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance.

اور یہ لوگ جو کچھ بھی کہہ رہے ہیں اس پر صبر کریں اور انہیں خوبصورتی کے ساتھ اپنے سے الگ کر دیں۔

And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little.

اور ہمیں اور ان دولت مند جھٹلانے والوں کو چھوڑ دیں اور انہیں تھوڑی مہلت دے دیں۔

Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire

ہمارے پاس ان کے لئے بیڑیاں اور بھڑکتی ہوئی آگ ہے۔

And food that chokes and a painful punishment

اور گلے میں پھنس جانے والا کھانا اور درد ناک عذاب ہے۔

On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose.

جس دن زمین اور پہاڑ لرزہ میں آجائیں گے اور پہاڑ ریت کا ایک ٹیلہ بن جائیں گے۔

Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon.

بےشک ہم نے تم لوگوں کی طرف تمہارا گواہ بنا کر ایک رسول بھیجا ہے جس طرح فرعون کی طرف رسول بھیجا تھا۔

But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold.

تو فرعون نے اس رسول کی نافرمانی کی تو ہم نے اسے سخت گرفت میں لے لیا۔

How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed?

پھر تم بھی کفر اختیار کرو گے تو اس دن سے کس طرح بچو گے جو بچوں کو بوڑھا بنا دے گا۔

The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment.

جس دن آسمان پھٹ پڑے گا اور یہ وعدہ بہرحال پورا ہونے والا ہے۔

Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord.

یہ در حقیقت عبرت و نصیحت کی باتیں ہیں اور جس کا جی چاہے اپنے پروردگار کے راستے کو اختیار کر لے۔

Surely your Lord knows that you pass in prayer nearly two-thirds of the night, and (sometimes) half of it, and (sometimes) a third of it, and (also) a party of those with you; and Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are not able to do it, so He has turned to you (mercifully), therefore read what is easy of the Quran. He knows that there must be among you sick, and others who travel in the land seeking of the bounty of Allah, and others who fight in Allah’s way, therefore read as much of it as is easy (to you), and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and offer to Allah a goodly gift, and whatever of good you send on beforehand for yourselves, you will find it with Allah; that is best and greatest in reward; and ask forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

آپ کا پروردگار جانتا ہے کہ دو تہائی رات کے قریب یا نصف شب یا ایک تہائی رات قیام کرتے ہیں اور آپ کے ساتھ ایک گروہ اور بھی ہے اور اللہ دن و رات کا صحیح اندازہ رکھتا ہے وہ جانتا ہے کہ تم لوگ اس کا صحیح احصاء نہ کر سکو گے تو اس نے تمہارے اوپر مہربانی کر دی ہے اب جس قدر قرآن ممکن ہو اتنا پڑھ لو کہ وہ جانتا ہے کہ عنقریب تم میں سے بعض مریض ہو جائیں گے اور بعض رزقِ خدا کو تلاش کرنے کے لئے سفر میں چلے جائیں گے اور بعض راہِ خدا میں جہاد کریں گے تو جس قدر ممکن ہو تلاوت کرو اور نماز قائم کرو اور زکوٰة ادا کرو اور اللہ کو قرضِ حسنہ دو اور پھر جو کچھ بھی اپنے نفس کے واسطے نیکی پیشگی بھیج دو گے اسے خدا کی بارگاہ میں حاضر پاﺅ گے، بہتر اور اجر کے اعتبار سے عظیم تر، اور اللہ سے استغفار کرو کہ وہ بہت زیادہ بخشنے والا اور مہربان ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

O you who are clothed!

اے میرے کپڑا اوڑھنے والے۔

Arise and warn

اٹھو اور لوگوں کو ڈراؤ۔

And your Lord do magnify

اور اپنے رب کی بزرگی کا اعلان کرو۔

And your garments do purify

اور اپنے لباس کو پاکیزہ رکھو۔

And uncleanness do shun

اور برائیوں سے پرہیز کرو۔

And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase

اور اس طرح احسان نہ کرو کہ زیادہ کے طلب گار بن جاؤ۔

And for the sake of your Lord, be patient.

اور اپنے رب کی خاطر صبر کرو۔

For when the trumpet is sounded

پھر جب صور پھونکا جائے گا۔

That, at that time, shall be a difficult day

تو وہ دن انتہائی مشکل دن ہو گا۔

For the unbelievers, anything but easy.

کافروں کے واسطے تو ہر گز آسان نہ ہو گا۔

Leave Me and him whom I created alone

اب مجھے اور اس شخص کو چھوڑ دو جس کو میں نے اکیلا پیدا کیا ہے۔

And give him vast riches

اور اس کے لئے کثیر مال قرار دیا ہے۔

And sons dwelling in his presence

اور نگاہ کے سامنے رہنے والے بیٹے قرار دیئے ہیں۔

And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably;

اور ہر طرح کے سامان میں وسعت دے دی ہے۔

And yet he desires that I should add more!

اور پھر بھی چاہتا ہے کہ اور اضافہ کر دوں۔

By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications.

ہرگز نہیں یہ ہماری نشانیوں کا سخت دشمن تھا۔

I will make a distressing punishment overtake him.

تو ہم عنقریب اسے سخت عذاب میں گرفتار کریں گے۔

Surely he reflected and guessed

اس نے فکر کی اور اندازہ لگایا۔

But may he be cursed how he plotted;

تو اسی میں مارا گیا کہ کیسا اندازہ لگایا۔

Again, may he be cursed how he plotted;

پھر اسی میں اور تباہ ہو گیا کہ کیسا اندازہ لگایا۔

Then he looked

پھر غور کیا۔

Then he frowned and scowled

پھر تیوری چڑھا کر منہ بسور لیا۔

Then he turned back and was big with pride

پھر منہ پھیر کر چلا گیا اور اکڑ گیا۔

Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others);

اور آخر میں کہنے لگا کہ یہ تو ایک جادو ہے جو پرانے زمانے سے چلا آرہا ہے۔

This is naught but the word of a mortal.

یہ تو صرف انسان کا کلام ہے۔

I will cast him into hell.

ہم عنقریب اسے جہنّم واصل کر دیں گے۔

And what will make you realize what hell is?

اور تم کیا جانو کہ جہنّم کیا ہے۔

It leaves naught nor does it spare aught.

وہ کسی کو چھوڑنے والا اور باقی رکھنے والا نہیں ہے۔

It scorches the mortal.

بدن کو جلا کر سیاہ کر دینے والا ہے۔

Over it are nineteen.

اس پر انیس فرشتے معین ہیں۔

And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals.

اور ہم نے جہنّم کا نگہبان صرف فرشتوں کو قرار دیا ہے اور ان کی تعداد کو کفار کی آزمائش کا ذریعہ بنا دیا ہے کہ اہل کتاب کو یقین حاصل ہو جائے اور ایمان والوں کے ایمان میں اضافہ ہو جائے اور اہل کتاب یا صاحبانِ ایمان اس کے بارے میں کسی طرح کا شک نہ کریں اور جن کے دلوں میں مرض ہے اور کفار یہ کہنے لگیں کہ آخر اس مثال کا مقصد کیا ہے اللہ اسی طرح جس کو چاہتا ہے گمراہی میں چھوڑ دیتا ہے اور جس کو چاہتا ہے ہدایت دے دیتا ہے اور اس کے لشکروں کو اس کے علاوہ کوئی نہیں جانتا ہے یہ تو صرف لوگوں کی نصیحت کا ایک ذریعہ ہے۔

Nay; I swear by the moon

ہوشیار ہمیں چاند کی قسم۔

And the night when it departs

اور جاتی ہوئی رات کی قسم۔

And the daybreak when it shines;

اور روشن صبح کی قسم۔

Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes)

یہ جہنّم بڑی چیزوں میں سے ایک چیز ہے۔

A warning to mortals

لوگوں کے ڈرانے کا ذریعہ۔

To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind.

ان کے لئے جو آگے پیچھے ہٹنا چاہیں۔

Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns

ہر نفس اپنے اعمال میں گرفتار ہے۔

Except the people of the right hand

علاوہ اصحابِ یمین کے۔

In gardens, they shall ask each other

وہ جنّتوں میں رہ کر آپس میں سوال کر رہے ہوں گے۔

About the guilty:

مجرمین کے بارے میں۔

What has brought you into hell?

آخر تمہیں کس چیز نے جہنّم میں پہنچا دیا ہے۔

They shall say: We were not of those who prayed;

وہ کہیں گے کہ ہم نماز گزار نہیں تھے۔

And we used not to feed the poor;

اور مسکین کو کھانا نہیں کھلایا کرتے تھے۔

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses.

لوگوں کے برے کاموں میں شامل ہو جایا کرتے تھے۔

And we used to call the day of judgment a lie;

اور روزِ قیامت کی تکذیب کیا کرتے تھے۔

Till death overtook us.

یہاں تک کہ ہمیں موت آگئی۔

So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them.

تو انہیں سفارش کرنے والوں کی سفارش بھی کوئی فائدہ نہ پہنچائے گی۔

What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition

آخر انہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ یہ نصیحت سے منہ موڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

As if they were asses taking fright

گویا بھڑکے ہوئے گدھے ہیں۔

That had fled from a lion?

جو شیر سے بھاگ رہے ہیں۔

Nay; everyone of them desires that he may be given pages spread out;

حقیقتًا ان میں ہر آدمی اس بات کا خواہش مند ہے کہ اسے کھلی ہوئی کتابیں عطا کر دی جائیں۔

Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter.

ہرگز نہیں ہو سکتا اصل یہ ہے کہ انہیں آخرت کا خوف ہی نہیں ہے۔

Nay! it is surely an admonition.

ہاں ہاں بےشک یہ سراسر نصیحت ہے۔

So whoever pleases may mind it.

اب جس کا جی چاہے اسے یاد رکھے۔

And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive.

اور یہ اسے یاد نہ کریں گے مگر یہ کہ اللہ ہی چاہے کہ وہی ڈرنے کا اہل اور مغفرت کا مالک ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection.

میں روزِ قیامت کی قسم کھاتا ہوں۔

Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul.

اور برائیوں پر ملامت کرنے والے نفس کی قسم کھاتا ہوں۔

Does man think that We shall not gather his bones?

کیا یہ انسان یہ خیال کرتا ہے کہ ہم اس کی ہڈیوں کو جمع نہ کر سکیں گے۔

Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips

یقینًا ہم اس بات پر قادر ہیں کہ اس کی انگلیوں کے پور تک درست کر سکیں۔

Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him.

بلکہ انسان یہ چاہتا ہے کہ اپنے سامنے برائی کرتا چلا جائے۔

He asks: When is the day of resurrection?

وہ یہ پوچھتا ہے کہ یہ قیامت کب آنے والی ہے۔

So when the sight becomes dazed

تو جب آنکھیں چکا چوند ہو جائیں گی۔

And the moon becomes dark

اور چاند کو گہن لگ جائے گا۔

And the sun and the moon are brought together

اور یہ چاند سورج اکٹھا کر دیئے جائیں گے۔

Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to?

اس دن انسان کہے گا کہ اب بھاگنے کا راستہ کدھر ہے۔

By no means! there shall be no place of refuge!

ہرگز نہیں اب کوئی ٹھکانہ نہیں ہے۔

With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest.

اب سب کا مرکز تمہارے پروردگار کی طرف ہے۔

Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off.

اس دن انسان کو بتایا جائے گا کہ اس نے پہلے اور بعد کیا کیا اعمال کئے ہیں۔

Nay! man is evidence against himself

بلکہ انسان خود بھی اپنے نفس کے حالات سے خوب باخبر ہے۔

Though he puts forth his excuses.

چاہے وہ کتنے ہی عذر کیوں نہ پیش کرے۔

Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it

دیکھئے آپ قرآن کی تلاوت میں عجلت کے ساتھ زبان کو حرکت نہ دیں۔

Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it.

یہ ہماری ذمہ داری ہے کہ ہم اسے جمع کریں اور پڑھوائیں۔

Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation.

پھر جب ہم پڑھوا دیں تو آپ اس کی تلاوت کو دہرائیں۔

Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it.

پھر اس کے بعد اس کی وضاحت کرنا بھی ہماری ہی ذمہ داری ہے۔

Nay! But you love the present life

نہیں بلکہ تم لوگ دنیا کو دوست رکھتے ہو۔

And neglect the hereafter.

اور آخرت کو نظر انداز کئے ہوئے ہو۔

(Some) faces on that day shall be bright

اس دن بعض چہرے شاداب ہوں گے۔

Looking to their Lord.

اپنے پروردگار کی نعمتوں پر نظر رکھے ہوئے ہوں گے۔

And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy

اور بعض چہرے افسردہ ہوں گے۔

Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity.

جنہیں یہ خیال ہو گا کہ کب کمر توڑ مصیبت وارد ہو جائے۔

Nay! When it comes up to the throat

ہوشیار جب جان گردن تک پہنچ جائے گی۔

And it is said: Who will be a magician?

اور کہا جائے گا کہ اب کون جھاڑ پھونک کرنے والا ہے۔

And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting

اور مرنے والے کو خیال ہو گا کہ اب سب سے جدائی ہے۔

And affliction is combined with affliction;

اور پنڈلی پنڈلی سے لپٹ جائے گی۔

To your Lord on that day shall be the driving.

آج سب کو پروردگار کی طرف لے جایا جائے گا۔

So he did not accept the truth, nor did he pray

اس نے نہ کلامِ خدا کی تصدیق کی اور نہ نماز پڑھی۔

But called the truth a lie and turned back

بلکہ تکذیب کی اور منہ پھیر لیا۔

Then he went to his followers, walking away in haughtiness.

پھر اپنے اہل کی طرف اکڑتا ہوا گیا۔

Nearer to you (is destruction) and nearer

افسوس ہے تیرے حال پر بہت افسوس ہے۔

Again (consider how) nearer to you and nearer.

حیف ہے اور صد حیف ہے۔

Does man think that he is to be left to wander without an aim?

کیا انسان کا خیال یہ ہے کہ اسے اسی طرح آزاد چھوڑ دیا جائے گا۔

Was he not a small seed in the seminal elements

کیا وہ اس منی کا قطرہ نہیں تھا جسے رحم میں ڈالا جاتا ہے۔

Then he was a clot of blood, so He created (him) then made (him) perfect.

پھر علقہ بنا پھر اسے خلق کر کے برابر کیا۔

Then He made of him two kinds, the male and the female.

پھر اس سے عورت اور مرد کا جوڑا تیار کیا۔

Is not He able to give life to the dead?

کیا وہ خدا اس بات پر قادر نہیں ہے کہ مردوں کو دوبارہ زندہ کر سکے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning.

یقینًا انسان پر ایک ایسا وقت بھی آیا ہے کہ جب وہ کوئی قابل ذکر شے نہیں تھا۔

Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing.

یقینًا ہم نے انسان کو ایک ملے جلے نطفہ سے پیدا کیا ہے تاکہ اس کا امتحان لیں اور پھر اسے سماعت اور بصارت والا بنا دیا ہے۔

Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful.

یقینًا ہم نے اسے راستہ کی ہدایت دے دی ہے چاہے وہ شکر گزار ہو جائے یا کفرانِ نعمت کرنے والا ہو جائے۔

Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire.

بےشک ہم نے کافرین کے لئے زنجیریں، طوق اور بھڑکتے ہوئے شعلوں کا انتظام کیا ہے۔

Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor

بےشک ہمارے نیک بندے اس پیالہ سے پئیں گے جس میں شراب کے ساتھ کافور کی آمیزش ہو گی۔

A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth.

یہ ایک چشمہ ہے جس سے اللہ کے نیک بندے پئیں گے اور جدھر چاہیں گے بہا کر لے جائیں گے۔

They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide.

یہ بندے نذر کو پورا کرتے ہیں اور اس دن سے ڈرتے ہیں جس کی سختی ہر طرف پھیلی ہوئی ہے۔

And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive:

یہ اس کی محبت میں مسکین، یتیم اور اسیر کو کھانا کھلاتے ہیں۔

We only feed you for Allah’s sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks:

ہم صرف اللہ کی مرضی کی خاطر تمہیں کھلاتے ہیں ورنہ نہ تم سے کوئی بدلہ چاہتے ہیں نہ شکریہ۔

Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day.

ہم اپنے پروردگار سے اس دن کے بارے میں ڈرتے ہیں جس دن چہرے بگڑ جائیں گے اور ان پر ہوائیاں اڑنے لگیں گی۔

Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness;

تو خدا نے انہیں اس دن کی سختی سے بچا لیا اور تازگی اور سرور عطا کر دیا۔

And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk

اور انہیں ان کے صبر کے عوض جنّت اور حریر جنّت عطا کرے گا۔

Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold.

جہاں وہ تختوں پر تکیہ لگائے بیٹھے ہوں گے نہ آفتاب کی گرمی دیکھیں گے اور نہ سردی۔

And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach.

ان کے سروں پر قریب ترین سایہ ہو گا اور میوے بالکل ان کے اختیار میں کر دیئے جائیں گے۔

And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass

ان کے گرد چاندی کے پیالے اور شیشے کے ساغروں کی گردش ہو گی۔

(Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure.

یہ ساغر بھی چاندی ہی کے ہوں گے جنہیں یہ لوگ اپنے پیمانہ کے مطابق بنا لیں گے۔

And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger

یہ وہاں ایسے پیالے سے سیراب کئے جائیں گے جس میں زنجبیل کی آمیزش ہوگی۔

(Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil.

جو جنّت کا ایک چشمہ ہے جسے سلسبیل کہا جاتا ہے۔

And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls.

اور ان کے گرد ہمیشہ نوجوان رہنے والے بچے گردش کر رہے ہوں گے کہ تم انہیں دیکھو گے تو بکھرے ہوئے موتی معلوم ہوں گے۔

And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom.

اور پھر دوبارہ دیکھو گے تو نعمتیں اور ایک ملک کبیر نظر آئے گا۔

Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink.

ان کے اوپر کریب کے سبز لباس اور ریشم کے حلے ہوں گے اور انہیں چاندی کے کنگن پہنائے جائیں گے اور انہیں ان کا پروردگار پاکیزہ شراب سے سیراب کرے گا۔

Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed.

یہ سب تمہاری جزا ہے اور تمہاری سعی (کوشش) قابل قبول ہے۔

Surely We Ourselves have revealed the Quran to you revealing (it) in portions.

ہم نے آپ پر قرآن تدریجًا (ایک کے بعد ایک) نازل کیا ہے۔

Therefore wait patiently for the command of your Lord, and obey not from among them a sinner or an ungrateful one.

لہذا آپ حکمِ خدا کی خاطر صبر کریں اور کسی گناہ گار یا کافر کی بات میں نہ آجائیں۔

And glorify the name of your Lord morning and evening.

اور صبح و شام اپنے پروردگار کے نام کی تسبیح کرتے رہیں۔

And during part of the night adore Him, and give glory to Him (a) long (part of the) night.

اور رات کے ایک حصّہ میں اس کا سجدہ کریں اور بڑی رات تک اس کی تسبیح کرتے رہیں۔

Surely these love the transitory and neglect a grievous day before them.

یہ لوگ صرف دنیا کی نعمتوں کو پسند کرتے ہیں اور اپنے پیچھے ایک بڑے سنگین دن کو چھوڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

We created them and made firm their make, and when We please We will bring in their place the likes of them by a change.

ہم نے ان کو پیدا کیا ہے اور ان کے اعضاء کو مضبوط بنایا ہے اور جب چاہیں گے تو انہیں بدل کر ان کے جیسے دوسرے افراد لے آئیں گے۔

Surely this is a reminder, so whoever pleases takes to his Lord a way.

یہ ایک نصیحت کا سامان ہے اب جس کا جی چاہے اپنے پروردگار کے راستہ کو اختیار کر لے۔

And you do not please except that Allah please, surely Allah is Knowing, Wise;

اور تم لوگ تو صرف وہی چاہتے ہو جو پروردگار چاہتا ہے بےشک اللہ ہر چیز کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

He makes whom He pleases to enter into His mercy; and (as for) the unjust, He has prepared for them a painful chastisement.

وہ جسے چاہتا ہے اپنی رحمت میں داخل کر لیتا ہے اور اس نے ظالمین کے لئے درد ناک عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

I swear by the emissary winds, sent one after another (for men’s benefit)

ان کی قسم جنہیں تسلسل کے ساتھ بھیجا گیا ہے۔

By the raging hurricanes

پھر تیز رفتاری سے چلنے والی ہیں۔

Which scatter clouds to their destined places

اور قسم ہے ان کی جو اشیاء کو منتشر کرنے والی ہیں۔

Then separate them one from another

پھر انہیں آپس میں جدا کرنے والی ہیں۔

Then I swear by the angels who bring down the revelation

پھر ذکر کو نازل کرنے والی ہیں۔

To clear or to warn.

تاکہ عذر تمام ہو یا خوف پیدا کرایا جائے۔

Most surely what you are threatened with must come to pass.

جس چیز کا تم سے وعدہ کیا گیا ہے وہ بہرحال واقع ہونے والی ہے۔

So when the stars are made to lose their light

پھر جب ستاروں کی چمک ختم ہو جائے۔

And when the heaven is rent asunder

اور آسمانوں میں شگاف پیدا ہو جائے۔

And when the mountains are carried away as dust

اور جب پہاڑ اُڑنے لگیں۔

And when the apostles are gathered at their appointed time

اور جب سارے پیغمبر ایک وقت میں جمع کر لئے جائیں۔

To what day is the doom fixed?

بھلا کس دن کے لئے ان باتوں میں تاخیر کی گئی ہے۔

To the day of decision.

فیصلہ کے دن کے لئے۔

And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is?

اور آپ کیا جانیں کہ فیصلہ کا دن کیا ہے۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

اس دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے جہنّم ہے۔

Did We not destroy the former generations?

کیا ہم نے ان کے پہلے والوں کو ہلاک نہیں کر دیا ہے۔

Then did We follow them up with later ones.

پھر دوسرے لوگوں کو بھی ان ہی کے پیچھے لگا دیں گے۔

Even thus shall We deal with the guilty.

ہم مجرموں کے ساتھ اسی طرح کا برتاؤ کرتے ہیں۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

اور آج کے دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے بربادی ہی بربادی ہے۔

Did We not create you from contemptible water?

کیا ہم نے تم کو ایک حقیر پانی سے نہیں پیدا کیا ہے۔

Then We placed it in a secure resting-place

پھر اسے ایک محفوظ مقام پر قرار دیا ہے۔

Till an appointed term

ایک معین مقدار تک۔

So We proportion it- how well are We at proportioning (things).

پھر ہم نے اس کی مقدار معین کی ہے تو ہم بہترین مقدار مقرر کرنے والے ہیں۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج کے دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے بربادی ہے۔

Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself

کیا ہم نے زمین کو ایک جمع کرنے والا ظرف نہیں بنایا ہے۔

The living and the dead

جس میں زندہ مردہ سب کو جمع کریں گے۔

And made therein lofty mountains, and given you to drink of sweet water?

اور اس میں اونچے اونچے پہاڑ قرار دئے ہیں اور تمہیں شیریں پانی سے سیراب کیا ہے۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے بربادی اور تباہی ہے۔

Walk on to that which you called a lie.

جاؤ اس طرف جس کی تکذیب کیا کرتے تھے۔

Walk on to the covering having three branches

جاؤ اس دھوئیں کے سایہ کی طرف جس کے تین گوشے ہیں۔

Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame.

نہ ٹھنڈک ہے اور نہ جہنّم کی لپٹ سے بچانے والا سہارا۔

Surely it sends up sparks like palaces

وہ ایسے انگارے پھینک رہا ہے جیسے کوئی محل۔

As if they were tawny camels.

جیسے زرد رنگ کے اونٹ۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج کے دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے بربادی اور جہنّم ہے۔

This is the day on which they shall not speak

آج کے دن یہ لوگ بات بھی نہ کر سکیں گے۔

And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses.

اور نہ انہیں اس بات کی اجازت ہو گی کہ عذر پیش کر سکیں۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج کے دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے جہنّم ہے۔

This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore.

یہ فیصلہ کا دن ہے جس میں ہم نے تم کو اور تمام پہلے والوں کو اکٹھا کیا ہے۔

So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now).

اب اگر تمہارے پاس کوئی چال ہو تو ہم سے استعمال کرو۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج تکذیب کرنے والوں کے لئے جہنّم ہے۔

Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be amid shades and fountains

بےشک متقین گھنی چھاؤں اور چشموں کے درمیان ہوں گے۔

And fruits such as they desire.

اور ان کی خواہش کے مطابق میوے ہوں گے۔

Eat and drink pleasantly because of what you did.

اب اطمینان سے کھاؤ پیو ان اعمال کی بنا پر جو تم نے انجام دیئے ہیں۔

Surely thus do We reward the doers of good.

ہم اسی طرح نیک عمل کرنے والوں کو بدلہ دیتے ہیں۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے جہنّم ہے۔

Eat and enjoy yourselves for a little; surely you are guilty.

تم لوگ تھوڑے دنوں کھاؤ اور آرام کر لو کہ تم مجرم ہو۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

آج کے دن تکذیب کرنے والوں کے لئے ویل ہے۔

And when it is said to them: Bow down, they do not bow down.

اور جب ان سے کہا جاتا ہے کہ رکوع کرو تو نہیں کرتے ہیں۔

Woe on that day to the rejecters.

تو آج کے دن جھٹلانے والوں کے لئے جہنّم ہے۔

In what announcement, then, after it, will they believe?

آخر یہ لوگ اس کے بعد کس بات پر ایمان لے آئیں گے۔

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
