Cure from Ailing
بیماری سے نجات
A supplication for someone who is ill, kept among the texts written and carried as a taweez. It asks Allah to lift the ailment and restore health, and to give excellent protection and excellent wellbeing.
The turn that gives the dua its character comes next: it asks that what the sick person has suffered be made material of their life and a remission of their wrongs — so that the illness is not wasted, but counted for them. It carries with it the Qur’anic verse “And We reveal of the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy for the believers” (17:82), and closes with salawat upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اَزِلْ عَنْهُ الْعِلَلَ وَالدَّاۗءَ وَاَعِدْهُ اِلَى الصِّحَّةِ وَالشِّفآءِ وَاَمِدَّهُ بِحُسْنِ الْوِقايَةِ وَرُدَّهُ اِلٰى حُسْنِ الْعَافِيَةِ وَاجْعَلْ مَا نَالَهُ فِىْ مَرَضِهِ هٰذَا مَادَّةً لِحَيْوَتِهِ وَكَفَّارَةً لِسَيِّئَاتِهِ اَللّٰهُمَّ وَصَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma azil a’n-hul e’lala wad-daaa-a wa a-i’d-ho ilas sahha-te wash shefaaa-e wa amidda-ho be-husnil weqaa-yate wa rudda-ho ilaa husnil aa’feyate waj-a’l maa naala-ho fee maraze-he haazaa madda-tan le-haiwate-he wa kaffaa-ratan lesayye-aatehe.
Allaahumma wa salle a’laa mohammadiw wa aale mohammadin.
O Allah, (please) remove ailments and maladies from him, restore him to health and cure, supply him with excellent protection, return him to excellent wellbeing, and cause what has afflicted him in this ailment of him to be material of his life and remission of his evildoings. O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! اس سے بیماری اور اسباب دور کر دے اسے صحت اور شفا کی طرف لوٹا دے بہترین حفاظت سے اس کی مدد کر اور اسے اچھی حالت کی طرف پلٹا دے اس بیماری میں اسے جو تکلیف پہنچی ہے اس کو اس کی زندگی کا سبب اور اس کے گناہوں کا کفارہ بنا دے اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما محمدؐ اور آل محمؑدپر۔
وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْاٰنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاۗءٌ وَّرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ۔
Wa no-naz-zelo minal qur’aane maa howa shefaaa-oon wa rahma-tul lil momeneena.
(And) We reveal of the Qur’an that which is a healing and a mercy for believers.
اور جو نازل کیا گیا قرآن سے اور وہ مومنین کے لئے شفا و رحمت ہے۔
يَا مُنْزِلَ الشِّفَاۗءِ وَمُذْهِبَ الدَّاۗءِ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِهٖ وَاَنْزِلْ عَلٰى وَجَعِى الشِّفَاۗءَ۔
Yaa munze-lash shefaaa-e wa muzhe-bad daaa-e salle a’laa mohammadiw wa aalehi wa anzal a’laa waj-i’sh shefaaa-a.
O revealer of cure and remover of remedy, (please) bless Muhammad and his Household and reveal cure upon my ailment.
اے شفا کے نازل کرنے والے اور بیماری کے دور کرنے والے رحمت فرما محمدؐ اور ان کی آلؑ پر اور میرے اس درد کی شفا ناز ل کر۔
