Any Pain
It is reported that Najashi, an ancient king of Abyssinia, inherited from his fathers a four hundred year old bonnet that appeases any pain that it touches. When the bonnet was untied to inspect its secret, the following supplicatory prayer was seen written therein…
ورثے میں ملی تھی کہ وہ جس درد و بیماری کی جگہ رکھی جاتی وہ درد و بیماری دور ہوجاتی جب اس ٹوپی کو ادھیڑا گیا کہ دیکھیں کہ اس میں کیا ہے تو دیکھا اس میں یہ لکھا ہوا تھا۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللهِ الْمَلِكِ الْحَقِّ الْمُبِيْنِ شَهِدَ اللهُ اَنَّهٗ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ وَاُولُوا الْعِلْمِ قَآئِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ اِنَّ الدِّيْنَ عِنْدَ اللهِ الْاِسْلَامُ لِلهِ نُوْرٌ وَحِكْمَةٌ وَحَوْلٌ وَقُوَّةٌ وَقُدْرَةٌ وَسُلْطَانٌ وَبُرْهَانٌ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ آدَمُ صَفِىُّ اللهِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ اِبْرٰهِيْمُ خَلِيْلُ اللهِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُوْسٰى كَلِيْمُ اللهِ۔
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ الْعَرَبِىُّ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ وَحَبِيْبُهٗ وَخِيَرَتُهٗ مِنْ خَلْقِهٖ اُسْكُنْ يَا جَمِيْعَ الْاَوْجَاعِ وَالْاَسْقَامِ وَالْاَمْرَاضِ وَجَمِيْعَ الْعِلَلِ وَجَمِيْعَ الْحُمَّيَاتِ سَكَّنْتُكَ بِالَّذِىْ سَكَنَ لَهٗ مَا فِى اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلٰى خَيْرِ خَلْقِهٖ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهٖ اَجْمَعِيْنَ۔
Bismi allaahi al-maliki al-haqqi al-mubeeni shahida allaahu annahoo laa ilaaha illaa huwa wal-malaa'ikatu wa-ooloo al-'ilmi qaa'iman bil-qisti laa ilaaha illaa huwa al-'azeezu al-hakeemu inna ad-deena 'inda allaahi al-islaamu lillaahi noorun wahikmatun wahawlun waquwwatun waqudratun wasultaanun waburhaanun laa ilaaha illaa allaahu aadamu safiyyu allaahi laa ilaaha illaa allaahu ibraaheemu khaleelu allaahi laa ilaaha illaa allaahu moosaa kaleemu allaah.
Laa ilaaha illaa allaahu muhammadun al-'arabiyyu rasoolu allaahi wahabeebuhoo wakhiyaratuhoo min khalqihee uskun yaa jamee'a al-awjaa'i wal-asqaami wal-amraadi wajamee'a al-'ilali wajamee'a al-hummayaati sakkantuka billazee sakana lahoo maa fee al-layli wan-nahaari wahuwa as-samee'u al-'aleemu wasallaa allaahu 'alaa khayri khalqihee muhammadin wa-aalihee ajma'een.
In the Name of Allah; the King and the Manifest Truth. Allah is witness that there is no god save Him. The angels and the men of learning too are witness. Maintaining His creation in justice, there is no god save Him; the Almighty and Wise. Lo! The religion with Allah is Islam. To Allah there are light, wisdom, might, power, omnipotence, authority, and clear evidence. There is no god save Allah. Adam is the choice of Allah. There is no god save Allah. Abraham is the friend of Allah. There is no god save Allah. Moses is the one spoken to by Allah. There is no god save Allah. Muhammad the Arab is the messenger of Allah, as well as His most beloved and best of all His creatures. Calm down, O all pains, illnesses, diseases, all ailments, and all fevers. I make you calm down in the name of the One to Whom whatsoever in the night and daylight rests and He is the All-hearing and All-knowing. May Allah bless the best of His creatures; Muhammad, and his entire Household.
خدا کے نام سے جو حقیقی اور سچا بادشاہ ہے خدا گواہی دیتا ہے کہ نہیں کوئی معبود مگر وہی ہے ملائکہ اورصاحبانِ علم بھی یہی گواہی دیتے ہیں کہ وہ عدل قائم کیے ہوئے ہے نہیں کوئی معبودمگر وہ کہ عزّت و حکمت والا ہے بے شک صرف خدا کا پسندیدہ دین اسلام ہے اللہ کے لئے ہے نور وحکمت طاقت و قوت قدرت و اقتدار اور محکم دلیل،نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے آدمؑ خدا کے چنے ہوئے ہیں نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے ابراہیمؑ اس کے مخلص دوست ہیں نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے موسیٰؑ اس کے کلیم ہیں۔ نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے۔محمدؐعربی اللہ کے رسولؐ ہیں اس کے حبیب اور اس کی مخلوق میں اس کے پسندیدہ ہیں ٹھہر جاؤ اے تمام دکھوں اور دردوں تمام تکلیفوں اور تمام بیماریوں تمام علالتوں اور تمام بخاروں کہ میں نے تمہیں ان کے نام سے روکا جس کے حکم سےرات دن میں ہر چیز ٹھہر جاتی ہے اور وہ سننے اور جاننے والا ہے۔اور خدا رحمت نازل کرے مخلوق میں بہتر محمدؐ اور ان کی ساری آلؑ پر۔

امام جعفر صادقؑ سے مروی ہے : کان کے درد کے لئے بھی یہی دعا ۷ مرتبہ پڑھی جائے۔

Imam Baqir (a) is reported to have said: Whoever suffers from headache may rub his head with his hand and repeat the following statement 7 times…
امام محمد باقرؑ سے مروی ہے : سر درد کو روکنے کے لئے سر پر ہاتھ پھیرتے ہوئے سات مرتبہ یہ دعا پڑھے۔۔۔
اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ الَّذِىْ سَكَنَ لَهٗ مَا فِى الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَمَا فِى السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ۔
A'oozu billaahi allazee sakana lahoo maa fee al-barri wal-bahri wamaa fee as-samaawaati wal-ardi wahuwa as-samee'u al-'aleem.
I beseech the protection of the One to Whom whatsoever in the lands, in the sea, in the heavens, and in the earth rests and He is the All-hearing and All-knowing.

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ شَهِدَ اللهُ اَنَّهٗ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ وَاُولُوا الْعِلْمِ قَآئِمًۢا بِالْقِسْطِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ لِلهِ نُوْرٌ وَحِكْمَةٌ وَعِزٌّ وَ قُوَّةٌ وَ بُرْهَانٌ وَقُدْرَةٌ وَسُلْطَانٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ يَا مَنْ لَا يَنَامُ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ اِبْرٰهِيْمُ خَلِيْلُ اللهِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُوْسٰى كَلِيْمُ اللهِ لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ عِيْسٰى رُوْحُ اللهِ وَكَلِمَتُهٗ۔
لَا اِلَهَ اِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُوْلُ اللهِ وَصَفِيُّهٗ وَصِفْوَتُهٗ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهٖ وَسَلَّمَ اُسْكُنْ سَكَّنْتُكَ بِمَنْ يَّسْكُنُ لَهٗ مَا فِى السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَبِمَنْ سَكَنَ لَهٗ مَا فِى الَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّيْحَ تَجْرِىْ بِاَمْرِهٖ رَخَآءً حَيْثُ اَصَابَ وَالشَّيَاطِيْنَ كُلَّ بَنَّآءٍ وَ غَوَّاصٍ اَلَا اِلَى اللهِ تَصِيْرُ الْاُمُوْرُ۔
Laa ilaaha illaa allaahu al-maliku al-haqqu al-mubeenu shahida allaahu annahoo laa ilaaha illaa huwa wal-malaa'ikatu wa-ooloo al-'ilmi qaa'iman bil-qisti laa ilaaha illaa huwa al-'azeezu al-hakeemu lillaahi noorun wahikmatun wa'izzun wa quwwatun wa burhaanun waqudratun wasultaanun warahmatun yaa man laa yanaamu laa ilaaha illaa allaahu ibraaheemu khaleelu allaahi laa ilaaha illaa allaahu moosaa kaleemu allaahi laa ilaaha illaa allaahu 'eesaa roohu allaahi wakalimatuh.
Laa ilaha illaa allaahu muhammadun rasoolu allaahi wasafiyyuhoo wasifwatuhoo sallaa allaahu 'alayhi wa-aalihee wasallama uskun sakkantuka biman yaskunu lahoo maa fee as-samaawaati wal-ardi wabiman sakana lahoo maa fee allayli wan-nahaari wahuwa as-samee'u al-'aleemu fasakhkharnaa lahu ar-reeha tajree bi-amrihee rakhaa'an haythu asaaba wash-shayaateena kulla bannaa'in wa ghawwaasin alaa ilaa allaahi taseeru al-umoor.
There is no god save Allah, the King and the manifest truth. Allah bears witness that there is no god but He and so do the angels and those possessed of knowledge maintaining His creation with justice. There is no god but Him, the Mighty, the Wise. To Allah there are light, wisdom, might, power, clear argument, omnipotence, authority, and mercy. O He Who never sleeps! There is no god save Allah. Abraham is the friend of Allah. There is no god save Allah. Moses is the one to whom Allah spoke. There is no god save Allah. Jesus is the spirit of Allah and His word. There is no god save Allah. Muhammad is Allah’s messenger, choice, and select. May Allah send blessings and peace upon him and his Household. Calm down! I make you calm down in the name of the One before Whom whatever is in the heavens and the earth rests and in the name of the One to Whom whatsoever in the night and daylight rests and He is the All-hearing and All-knowing. Then, We made the wind subservient to him; it ran gently by his command wherever he desired and the devils, every builder and diver. Verily, all things return to Allah.
نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے جو حقیقی اور سچا بادشاہ ہےخدا گواہی دیتا ہے کہ اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور فرشتے اور صاحبانِ علم بھی، کہ وہ عدل کے ساتھ قائم ہے، اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں جو غالب اور حکمت والا ہے۔ اللہ کے لئے نور وحکمت، عزّت، قوت، دلیل،قدرت اور اقتدار اور رحمت اے وہ جو سوتا نہیں، نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے ابراہیمؑ اس کے سچے دوست ہیں نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے موسیٰؑ اس کے کلیم ہیں نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے عیسیٰؑ اس کی روح اور اس کا کلمہ ہیں۔ نہیں کوئی معبود سوائے اللہ کے محمدؐ خدا کے رسولؐ اور اس کے پسندیدہ اور قابل پسند ہیں خدا رحمت فرمائے ان پر اور ان کی آلؑ پر اور سلام اے درد ٹھہر جا میں ٹھہراتا ہوں اس کے نام سے جس کے ذریعے زمین و آسمان کی ہر چیز اس کے سامنے ٹھہری ہے اور جس سے رات دن میں ہر چیز اس کے سامنے ساکن ہے اور وہ سننے والاہے جاننے والا ہے پس ہم نے ہوا پر اسے اختیاردیا کہ اس کے حکم پر چلتی ہے جہاں وہ جاتا ہے اور شیطانوں کو بھی جو معمار بھی تھے اور غوطہ خور بھی آگاہ ہو کہ امور کی بازگشت خدا کی طرف ہے۔
Recite the following holy verse (21:30) on a glass of water and then drink it…
ایک برتن میں پانی لے کراس پر یہ(سورۂ انبیاءآیت۳۰) پڑھے اور پھر وہ پانی پی لے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْٓا اَنَّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنٰهُمَا وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ اَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ
Awalam yara allazeena kafaroo anna as-samaawaati wal-arda kaanataa ratqan fafataqnaahumaa waja'alnaa mina al-maa'i kulla shay'in hayyin afalaa yu'minoon
Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, but We have opened them; and We have made of water everything living, will they not then believe?
کیا ان کافروں نے یہ نہیں دیکھا کہ یہ زمین و آسمان آپس میں جڑے ہوئے تھے اور ہم نے ان کو الگ کیا ہے اور ہر جاندار کو پانی سے قرار دیا ہے پھر کیا یہ لوگ ایمان نہ لائیں گے۔
It is reported that whenever the Holy Prophet (s) was ailed or suffered from headache, he would open his two hands, recite Surah Fateha, Surah Falaq, and Surah Naas, and then rub his face with his hands. Thus, the ache would disappear.
روایت نقل ہوئی ہے : جب بھی رسول اکرمؐ کو کوئی درد یا تکلیف ہوتی تو آپ اپنے ہاتھ پھیلا کر سورۂ فاتحہ و معوذتین یعنی سورۂ فلق اور سورۂ ناس پڑھتے اور پھر ہاتھوں کو اپنے چہرۂ اقدس پر مس کرلیتے جس سے ساری تکلیفیں دور ہوجاتی تھیں۔
For those who suffer from headache, while rubbing their heads with the hands, the following holy verse (35:41) should be recited…
نیز سر درد دور کرنے کے لئے انسان سر پر ہاتھ مس کرتے ہوئے (سورۂ فاطر آیت ۴۱) پڑھے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اِنَّ اللهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ اَنْ تَزُوْلَا وَلَئِنْ زَالَتَآ اِنْ اَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ اَحَدٍ مِّنْۢ بَعْدِهٖٓ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ حَلِيْمًا غَفُوْرًا
Inna allaaha yumsiku as-samaawaati wal-arda an tazoolaa wala'in zaalataa in amsakahumaa min ahadin min ba'dihee innahoo kaana haleeman ghafooraa
Surely Allah upholds the heavens and the earth lest they come to naught; and if they should come to naught, there is none who can uphold them after Him; surely He is the Forbearing, the Forgiving.
بےشک اللہ زمین و آسمان کو زائل ہونے سے روکے ہوئے ہے اور اگر وہ زائل ہو جائیں تو اس کے بعد کوئی انہیں تھام نہیں سکتا وہ بڑا بردبار اور بخشنے والا ہے۔
The following incident is quoted from the book of Rabi’ Abrar: In Turtus (a city in western Syria), Ma’mun, the Abbasid ruler, was once affected by headache that none could treat. Having heard about this, the Roman emperor sent him a bonnet and a letter in which he wrote, “Having been informed about your headache, I sent you this bonnet so that you would put it on your head and your ache would vanish.” Anticipating that the bonnet would be poisoned, Ma’mun ordered the messenger to put it on his head. However, no harm happened to the messenger. Ma’mun then ordered the bonnet to be put on the head of another man who suffered from headache. Therefore, his pain vanished. Only then did he put it on his head and his headache vanished. Surprised, Ma’mun untied the bonnet and found the following inscription written therein…
ربیع الابرار سے نقل کیا گیا ہے : مقامِ طرطوس میں مامون الرشید کو سر درد شروع ہوگیا جس کا اس نے بہت علاج کیا مگر افاقہ نہ ہوا تو قیصر روم نے اس کے لئے ایک ٹوپی بھجوائی اور لکھا کہ مجھے معلوم ہوا ہے کہ آپ کو سر درد کا عارضہ ہے میں یہ ٹوپی بھیج رہا ہوں اسے سر پر پہن لیجئے درد ختم ہوجائے گا۔ مامون کو اندیشہ ہوا کہ کہیں اس ٹوپی میں زہر نہ رکھ دیا گیا ہو لہٰذا حکم دیا کہ پہلے اسے لانے والے کے سر پر رکھا جائے اور جب دیکھا اسے کوئی تکلیف نہیں پہنچی تو پھر وہ ٹوپی ایک ایسے شخص کے سر پر رکھی گئی جس کے سر میں درد تھا۔چنانچہ اس کا درد دور ہوگیا اس کے بعد مامون نے وہ ٹوپی اپنے سر پر رکھی تو درد ٹھیک ہوگیا اس پر اسے تعجب ہوا اور اس نے وہ ٹوپی ادھیڑ کر دیکھی تو اس میں یہ لکھا ہوا پایا۔۔۔

كَمْ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ لِلهِ فِىْ عِرْقٍ سَاكِنٍ حَّمَّ عَّسَّقَّ لَا يُصَدَّعُوْنَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُوْنَ مِنْ كَلَامِ الرَّحْمٰنِ خَمَدَتِ النِّيْرَانُ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللهِ وَجَالَ نَفْعُ الدَّوَآءِ فِيْكَ كَمَا يَجُوْلُ مَآءُ الرَّبِيْعِ فِى الْغُصْنِ۔
Kam min ni'matin lillaahi fee 'irqin saakinin hamma 'assaqqa laa yusadda'oona 'anhaa walaa yunzifoona min kalaami ar-rahmaani khamadati an-neeraanu walaa hawla walaa quwwata illaa billaahi wajaala naf'u ad-dawaa'i feeka kamaa yajoolu maa'u ar-rabee'i fee al-ghusn.
Too many graces of Allah are in dormant vein. They shall not be affected with headache thereby nor shall they get exhausted. Due to the words of the All-beneficent Lord, fires are extinguished. There is neither might nor power save with Allah. Let the benefit of medicine pervade in you just as the spring water pervades in twigs.
اللہ کی کتنی ہی نعمتیں رگ میں رکی ہوئی ہیں حٰم عسق اس سے انہیں نہ سر درد ہوتا ہے نہ ان کا خون بہتا ہے خدا کے کلام سے جلتی ہوئی آگ ٹھنڈی ہوجاتی ہے نہیں کوئی طاقت و قوت مگر خدا سے اور دوا کا نفع تمہارے اندر یوں جارہا ہے جیسے موسمِ بہار کی بارش کا پانی شاخوں میں۔
