Dua-e-Ahad is the supplication of covenant (ahd) and allegiance to Imam al-Mahdi (ajtf). Narrated from Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a) and recorded by Sayyid ibn Tawus and Allamah Majlisi among others, it is recited each morning to renew one’s covenant with the awaited Imam, and it is reported that whoever recites it for forty mornings is counted among the helpers of the Qa’im (a). It opens by calling upon Allah as Lord of the Great Light, the Elevated Throne, and the revealer of the scriptures.

Imam Sadiq (a) narrates that “one who recites this supplication for 40 mornings; he will be accounted amongst the helpers of Imam Mahdi (a). And if he happens to die before the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (a), Allah will raise him up from his grave so that he may assist the holy Imam (a). For every word that he recites in this supplication, Allah will grant him 1000 good deeds and will erase from his scroll of deeds 1000 sins”. As the title suggests, this supplication is of allegiance (ahad) to the holy Imam (a). Its recitation every morning after Fajr Namaz ensures the renewal of this covenant”…
امام جعفر صادقؑ سے نقل ہوا ہے کہ جو شخص ۴۰ روز تک ہر صبح اس دعائے عہد کو پڑھے تو وہ امام (عج) کے مدد گاروں میں سے ہو گا اور اگر وہ امامؑ کے ظہور سے پہلے فوت ہو جائے تو خدا وند کریم اسے قبر سے اٹھائیگا تاکہ وہ امام کے ہمراہ ہو جائے اللہ تعالیٰ اس دعا کے ہر لفظ کے عوض اسے ایک ہزار نیکیاں عطا کرے گا اور اسکے ۱۰۰۰ گناہ محو کر دے گا وہ دعائے عہد یہ ہے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem auto
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ رَبَّ النُّوْرِ الْعَظِیْمِ وَرَبَّ الْكُرْسِیِّ الرَّفِیْعِ وَرَبَّ الْبَحْرِ الْمَسْجُوْرِ وَمُنْزِلَ التَّوْرٰیۃِ وَالْاِنْجِیْلِ وَالزَّبُوْرِ وَرَبَّ الظِّلِّ وَالْحَرُوْرِ وَمُنْزِلَ الْقُرْاٰنِ الْعَظِیْمِ وَرَبَّ الْمَلٰٓئِكَۃِ الْمُقَرَّبِیْنَ وَالْاَنْۢبِیَآءِ وَالْمُرْسَلِیْنَ۔
Allaahumma rabba an-noori al-'azeemi warabba al-kursiyyi ar-rafee'i warabba al-bahri al-masjoori wamunzila at-tawraati wal-injeeli waz-zaboori warabba az-zilli wal-haroori wamunzila al-qur'aani al-'azeemi warabba al-malaa'ikati al-muqarrabeena wal-anbiyaa'i wal-mursaleen. auto
O Allah! Lord of the Great Light, Lord of the Elevated Throne, Lord of the tumultuous seas, and the revealer of the Tawrah, Injeel, and Zaboor, Lord of the shadows and the warmth‘s, And the revealer of the Great Quran. Lord of the proximate angels and prophets and messengers.
اے معبود! اے عظیم نورکے پروردگار اے بلند کرسی کے پروردگار اے موجیں مارتے سمندر کے پروردگار اور اے توریت اور انجیل اور زبور کے نازل کرنے والے اور اے سایہ اور دھوپ کے پروردگار اے قرآن عظیم کے نازل کرنے والے اے مقرب فرشتوں اور فرستادہ نبیوں اور رسولوں کے پروردگار۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اِنِّیْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِوَجْھِكَ الْكَرِیْمِ وَبِنُوْرِ وَجْھِكَ الْمُنِیْرِ وَمُلْكِكَ الْقَدِیْمِ یَا حَیُّ یَا قَیُّوْمُ اَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ اَشْرَقَتْ بِہِ السَّمٰوَاتُ وَالْاَرَضُوْنَ وَبِاسْمِكَ الَّذِیْ یَصْلَحُ بِہِ الْاَوَّلُوْنَ وَالْاٰخِرُوْنَ یَاحَیًّا قَبْلَ كُلِّ حَیٍّ وَّیَا حَیًّا بَعْدَ كُلِّ حَیٍّ وَّیَا حَیًّا حِیْنَ لَا حَیَّ یَامُحْیِیَ الْمَوْتٰی وَمُمِیْتَ الْاَحْیَآءِ یَا حَیُّ لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ۔
Allaahumma innee as'aluka biwajhika al-kareemi wabinoori wajhika al-muneeri wamulkika al-qadeemi yaa hayyu yaa qayyoomu as'aluka bismika allazee ashraqat bihi as-samaawaatu wal-aradoona wabismika allazee yaslahu bihi al-awwaloona wal-aakhiroona yaa hayyan qabla kulli hayyin wayaa hayyan ba'da kulli hayyin wayaa hayyan heena laa hayya yaa muhyiya al-mawtaa wamumeeta al-ahyaa'i yaa hayyu laa ilaaha illaa ant. auto
O Allah I beseech thee, for the sake of Your Nobel Visage. And for the sake of Your Enlightening Visage, and Your ever-existing kingdom. O Ever Living! O Controller! I beseech Thee in Your Name which lit the heavens and the earths; and in Your Name, by which the ancient and the latter ones become upright. O Ever living who has before every living being. O Ever Living Who shall (exist) after every living being. O Ever Living Who existed when there was no life. O Giver of life to dead. O One Who causes death to the living one. O Ever Living. There is no god except Thou.
اے معبود! بے شک میں سوال کرتا ہوں تیری کریم ذات کے واسطے سے تیری روشن ذات کے نور کے واسطے سے اور تیری قدیم بادشاہی کے واسطے سے اے زندہ اے پائندہ تجھ سے سوال کرتا ہوں تیرے نام کے واسطے سے جس سے سارے آسمان چمک رہے ہیں اور ساری زمینیں بھی تیرے نام کے واسطے سے جس سے اولین وآخرین نے بھلائی پائی اے زندہ ہر زندہ سے پہلے اور اے زندہ ہر زندہ کے بعد اور اے زندہ جب کوئی زندہ نہ تھا اے مردوں کو زندہ کرنے والے اے زندوں کو موت دینے والے اے وہ زندہ کہ تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ بَلِّغْ مَوْلَانَا الْاِمَامَ الْھَادِیَ الْمَھْدِیَّ الْقَآئِمَ بِاَمْرِكَ صَلَوَاتُ اللہِ عَلَیْہِ وَعَلٰی اٰبَآئِہِ الطَّاھِرِیْنَ عَنْ جَمِیْعِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ فِیْ مَشَارِقِ الْاَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبِھَا سَھْلِھَا وَجَبَلِھَا وَبَرِّھَا وَبَحْرِھَا وَعَنِّیْ وَعَنْ وَالِدَیَّ مِنَ الصَّلَوَاتِ زِنَۃَ عَرْشِ اللہِ وَمِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِہٖ وَمَا اَحْصَاہُ عِلْمُہٗ وَاَحَاطَ بِہٖ كِتَابُہٗ۔
Allaahumma balligh mawlaanaa al-imaama al-haadiya al-mahdiyya al-qaa'ima bi-amrika salawaatu allaahi 'alayhi wa'alaa aabaa'ihi at-taahireena 'an jamee'i al-mu'mineena wal-mu'minaati fee mashaariqi al-ardi wamaghaaribihaa sahlihaa wajabalihaa wabarrihaa wabahrihaa wa'annee wa'an waalidayya mina as-salawaati zinata 'arshi allaahi wamidaada kalimaatihee wamaa ahsaahu 'ilmuhoo wa-ahaata bihee kitaabuh. auto
O Allah send our master the leader, the guide, the guided, the upriser with Your command. Blessings of Allah be on him and his pure forefathers from all the believing men and believing women. In the east‘s of the earth and it‘s west‘s, in its plains and its mountains, its lands and its seas, from me and my parents. Blessings, which are the weight of Allah‘s throne and ink of His words, and whatever His knowledge enumerates and His book encompasses.
اے معبود! ہمارے مولا امام ہادی مہدی ؑکو جو تیرے حکم سے قائم ہیں ان پر اور ان کے پاک بزرگوں پر خدا کی رحمتیں ہوں اور تمام مومنین اور مومنات کی طرف سے جو زمین کے مشرقوں اور مغربوں میں ہیں میدانوں اور پہاڑوں اور خشکیوں اور سمندروں میں میری طرف سے میرے والدین کی طرف سے بہت درود پہنچا دے جو عرش اور اس کے کلمات کی روشنائی کے ہم وزن ہو اور جو چیزیں اس کے علم میں ہیں اور اس کی کتاب میں درج ہیں۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اِنِّیْ اُجَدِّدُ لَہٗ فِیْ صَبِیْحَۃِ یَوْمِیْ ھٰذَا وَمَا عِشْتُ مِنْ اَیَّامِیْ عَھْدًا وَّعَقْدًا وَّبَیْعَۃً لَہٗ فِیْ عُنُقِیْ لَا اَحُوْلُ عَنْھَا وَلَا اَزُوْلُ اَبَدًا۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اجْعَلْنِیْ مِنْ اَنْصَارِہٖ وَاَعْوَانِہٖ وَالذَّابِّیْنَ عَنْہُ وَالْمُسَارِعِیْنَ اِلَیْہِ فِیْ قَضَآءِ حَوَآئِجِہٖ وَالْمُمْتَثِلِیْنَ لِاَوَامِرِہٖ وَالْمُحَامِیْنَ عَنْہُ وَالسَّابِقِیْنَ اِلٰی اِرَادَتِہٖ وَالْمُسْتَشْھَدِیْنَ بَیْنَ یَدَیْہِ۔
Allaahumma innee ujaddidu lahoo fee sabeehati yawmee haazaa wamaa 'ishtu min ayyaamee 'ahdan wa'aqdan wabay'atan lahoo fee 'unuqee laa ahoolu 'anhaa walaa azoolu abadaa.
Allaahumma ij'alnee min ansaarihee wa-a'waanihee waz-zaabbeena 'anhu wal-musaari'eena ilayhi fee qadaa'i hawaa'ijihee wal-mumtathileena li-awaamirihee wal-muhaameena 'anhu was-saabiqeena ilaa iraadatihee wal-mustashhadeena bayna yadayh. auto
O Allah renew for him my covenant, pledge and allegiance on my neck in the morning of this day of mine and whatever days (of my life) I live. I shall never turn away from it nor let it ever vanish. O Allah appoint me among his helpers, aides, and his protectors. Those who hasten to fulfill his commands and obey his orders. Those who are his supporters and compete with each other to (fulfill) his intention and seek martyrdom in his presence.
اے معبود! میں تازہ کرتا ہوں ان کے لئے آج کے دن کی صبح کو اور جب تک زندہ ہوں باقی ہے یہ پیمان یہ عہد اور ان کی بیعت جو میری گردن پر ہے نہ اس سے مکروں گانہ کبھی ترک کروں گا اے معبود!مجھے ان کے مدد گاروں ان کے ساتھیوں اور ان کا دفاع کرنے والوں میں قرار دے میں حاجت پوری کرنے کے لئے ان کی طرف بڑھنے والوں ان کے احکام پر عمل کرنے والوں ان کی طرف سے دعوت دینے والوں ان کے ارادوں کو جلد پورے کرنے والوں اور ان کے سامنے شہید ہونے والوں میں قرار دے۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اِنْ حَالَ بَیْنِیْ وَبَیْنَہُ الْمَوْتُ الَّذِیْ جَعَلْتَہٗ عَلٰی عِبَادِكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِیًّا فَاَخْرِجْنِیْ مِنْ قَبْرِیْ مُؤْتَزِرًا كَفَنِیْ شَاھِرًا سَیْفِیْ مُجَرِّدًا قَنَاتِیْ مُلَبِّیًا دَعْوَۃَ الدَّاعِیْ فِی الْحَاضِرِ وَالْبَادِیْ۔
Allaahumma in haala baynee wabaynahu al-mawtu allazee ja'altahoo 'alaa 'ibaadika hatman maqdiyyan fa-akhrijnee min qabree mu'taziran kafanee shaahiran sayfee mujarridan qanaatee mulabbiyan da'wata ad-daa'ee fee al-haadiri wal-baadee. auto
O Allah! If death occurs between me and him (before the reappearance) (death) which you have made obligatory and decreed for your servants, then raise me from my grave, wrapped in my shroud, my sword unsheathed, my spear bared, answering the call of the caller in cities as well as deserts.
اے معبود! اگر میرے اور میرے امامؑ کے درمیان موت حائل ہو جائے جو تو نے اپنے بندوں کے لئے آمادہ کر رکھی ہے تو پھر مجھے قبر سے اس طرح نکالنا کہ کفن میرا لباس ہو میری تلوار بے نیام ہو میرا نیزہ بلند ہو داعی حق کی دعوت پر لبیک کہوں شہر اور گاؤں میں۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اَرِنِی الطَّلْعَۃَ الرَّشِیْدَۃَ وَالْغُرَّۃَ الْحَمِیْدَۃَ وَاكْحُلْ نَاظِرِیْ بِنَظْرَۃٍ مِّنِّیْ اِلَیْہِ وَعَجِّلْ فَرَجَہٗ وَسَھِّلْ مَخْرَجَہٗ وَاَوْسِعْ مَنْھَجَہٗ وَاسْلُكْ بِیْ مَحَجَّتَہٗ وَاَنْفِذْ اَمْرَہٗ وَاشْدُدْ اَزْرَہٗ وَاعْمُرِ اللّٰھُمَّ بِہٖ بِلَادَكَ وَاَحْیِ بِہٖ عِبَادَكَ فَاِنَّكَ قُلْتَ وَقَوْلُكَ الْحَقُّ ظَھَرَ الْفَسَادُ فِیْ الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ اَیْدِی النَّاسِ۔
Allaahumma arinee at-tal'ata ar-rasheedata wal-ghurrata al-hameedata wakhul naaziree binazratin minnee ilayhi wa'ajjil farajahoo wasahhil makhrajahoo wa-awsi' manhajahoo wasluk bee mahajjatahoo wa-anfiz amrahoo washdud azrahoo wa'muri allaahumma bihee bilaadaka wa-ahyi bihee 'ibaadaka fa-innaka qulta waqawluka al-haqqu zahara al-fasaadu fee al-barri wal-bahri bimaa kasabat aydee an-naas. auto
O Allah! Show me the rightly guided face of (Imam a.s), the praiseworthy moon (referring to the face of Imam a.s) and enlighten my vision by looking at him. And hasten his reappearance, make his arrival smooth, vasten his path, make me tread on his way and implement his authority and strengthen his back. O Allah inhabit Your cities through him and give life to Your servants due to him for surely You have said and Your word is truth, "Corruption will become rampant in land and on sea because of the evil which men‘s hand have earned."
اے معبود!مجھے حضرتؑ کا رخِ زیبا آپ کی درخشاں پیشانی دکھا ان کے دیدار کو میری آنکھوں کا سرمہ بنا ان کی کشائش وآسائش میں جلدی فرما ان کے ظہور کو آسان بنا ان کا راستہ وسیع کر دے اور مجھ کو ان کی راہ پر چلا ان کا حکم جاری فرما ان کی قوت کو بڑھا اور اے معبود!ان کے ذریعے اپنے شہر آباد کر اور اپنے بندوں کو عزّت کی زندگی دے کیوں کہ تو نے فرمایا اور تیرا قول حق ہے کہ ظاہر ہوا فساد خشکی اور سمندر میں یہ نتیجہ ہے لوگوں کے غلط اعمال و افعال کا۔
فَاَظْھِرِ اللّٰھُمَّ لَنَا وَلِیَّكَ وَابْنَ بِنْتِ نَبِیِّكَ الْمُسَمّٰی بِاسْمِ رَسُوْلِكَ حَتّٰی لَا یَظْفَرَ بِشَیْءٍ مِّنَ الْبَاطِلِ اِلَّا مَزَّقَہٗ وَیُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ وَیُحَقِّقَہٗ وَاجْعَلْہُ اللّٰھُمَّ مَفْزَعًا لِمَظْلُوْمِ عِبَادِكَ وَنَاصِرًا لِمَنْ لَا یَجِدُ لَہٗ نَاصِرًا غَیْرَكَ وَمُجَدِّدًا لِمَا عُطِّلَ مِنْ اَحْكَامِ كِتَابِكَ وَمُشَیِّدًا لِمَا وَرَدَ مِنْ اَعْلَامِ دِیْنِكَ وَسُنَنِ نَبِیِّكَ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَآلِہٖ۔
Fa-azhiri allaahumma lanaa waliyyaka wabna binti nabiyyika al-musammaa bismi rasoolika hattaa laa yazfara bishay'in mina al-baatili illaa mazzaqahoo wayuhiqqa al-haqqa wayuhaqqiqahoo waj'alhu allaahumma mafza'an limazloomi 'ibaadika wanaasiran liman laa yajidu lahoo naasiran ghayraka wamujaddidan limaa 'uttila min ahkaami kitaabika wamushayyidan limaa warada min a'laami deenika wasunani nabiyyika sallaa allaahu 'alayhi wa-aalih. auto
Then O Allah manifest for us Your slave and the son of Your Prophet‘s daughter, whose name is the same as that of Your messenger, so that nothing from falsehood is victorious except that he tears them (falsehood) to pieces, establishes the truth and the truth confirms him. And O Allah! Appoint him as a refuge for Your oppressed servants and a helper for the one who does not find any helper for himself except You and the renewer of all the laws of Your book which have been tampered with and the rebuilder of the science of Your religion and the traditions of Your Prophet (peace of Allah be on him and his progeny).
پس اے معبود! ظہور کر ہمارے لئے اپنے ولیؑ اور اپنے نبی ؐ کی دختر (س) کے فرزند کا جن کا نام تیرے رسول ؐ کے نام پر ہے یہاں تک کہ وہ باطل کا نام و نشان مٹا ڈالیں حق کو حق کہیں اور اسے قائم کریں اے معبود! ان کو اپنے مظلوم بندوں کے لئے جائے پناہ قرار دےاور ان کے مددگار جن کا تیرے سوا کوئی مدد گار نہیں بنا ان کو اپنی کتاب کے ان احکام کے زندہ کرنے والے جو بھلا دیئے گئے ان کو اپنے دین کے خاص احکام اور اپنے نبی ؐ کے طریقوں کو راسخ کرنے والے بنا ان پر اور ان کی آلؑ پر خدا کی رحمت ہو۔
وَاجْعَلْہُ اللّٰھُمَّ مِمَّنْ حَصَّنْتَہٗ مِنْ بَأسِ الْمُعْتَدِیْنَ اَللّٰھُمَّ وَسُرَّ نَبِیَّكَ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ بِرُؤْیَتِہٖ وَمَنْ تَبِعَہٗ عَلٰی دَعْوَتِہٖ وَارْحَمِ اسْتِكَانَتَنَا بَعْدَہٗ۔
اَللّٰھُمَّ اكْشِفْ ھٰذِہِ الْغُمَّۃَ عَنْ ھٰذِہِ الْاُمَّۃِ بِحُضُوْرِہٖ وَعَجِّلْ لَنَا ظُھُوْرَہٗ اِنَّھُمْ یَرَوْنَہٗ بَعِیْدًا وَّنَرَاہُ قَرِیْبًا بِرَحْمَتِكَ یَااَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ۔
Waj'alhu allaahumma mimman hassantahoo min ba'si al-mu'tadeena allaahumma wasurra nabiyyaka muhammadan sallaa allaahu 'alayhi wa-aalihee biru'yatihee waman tabi'ahoo 'alaa da'watihee warhami istikaanatanaa ba'dah.
Allaahumma ikshif haazihi al-ghummata 'an haazihi al-ummati bihudoorihee wa'ajjil lanaa zuhoorahoo innahum yarawnahoo ba'eedan wanaraahu qareeban birahmatika yaa arhama ar-raahimeen. auto
And O Allah! make him among those whom you have protected from the evils of the adversaries. O Allah! and provide joy to Your Prophet Mohammed (peace be on him and his progeny) by his vision and (the vision of) the one who follows him on his call and have mercy on our poverty after his arrival O Allah remove his sorrow (of occultation) from this nation with his presence and hasten for us his reappearance. They (the disbelievers) consider it to be distant while we consider it to be near. For the sake of Your mercy, O the most Merciful of all Mercifuls.
اور اے معبود! انہیں ان لوگوں میں رکھ جن کو تو نےظالموں کے حملے سے بچایا اے معبود!خوشنود کر اپنے نبی محمد ؐ کو ان کے دیدار سے اور جنہوں نے ان کی دعوت میں ان کا ساتھ دیا اور ان کے بعد ہماری حالت ِزار پر رحم فرما اے معبود! ان کے ظہور سے امت کی اس مشکل اور مصیبت کو دور کر دے اور ہمارے لئے جلد ان کا ظہور فرما کہ لوگ ان کو دور اور ہم انہیں نزدیک سمجھتے ہیں تیری رحمت کا واسطہ اے سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والے!
Then one should gently strike his right thigh with his palm and repeat thrice…
پھر ۳ بار دائیں ران پر ہاتھ مارتے ہوئےکہے۔۔۔
اَلْعَجَلَ الْعَجَلَ یَامَوْلَایَ یَاصَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ۔
Al-'ajala al-'ajala yaa mawlaaya yaa saahiba az-zamaan. auto
Hasten! Hasten! O my Master, O Master of the era.
جلد آئیے جلد آئیے اے میرے آقا اے زمانۂ حاضر کے امامؑ!
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad. auto
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
You can alo recite Ziyarat-e-Ahad Allahumma Balligh Maulaya.
اس کے بعد زیارتِ عہد اَللّٰہُمَّ بَلِّغْ مَوْلَایَ پڑھے۔
