Ya Rabbal
یَارَبَّ لَّیْلَۃِ
A supplication for the Night of Qadr, addressed first to its Lord — “O Lord of Laylatul Qadr, who made it better than a thousand months.”
From there it widens: Lord of the nights and the days, of the mountains and the seas, of the darknesses and the lights, of the earth and the heavens; the Originator, the Fashioner, the Compassionate. Then the names come in a rhythm the reciter keeps returning to — “O Allah” between each.
Its closing turn is practical. After naming Him as the One who directs every affair, raises those in the graves, makes the oceans flow and made iron soft for Dawud (a), it asks blessings on Muhammad and his Household and leaves a place for the reciter’s own needs — this very night.
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismillaahir rahmaanir raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربا ن نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
یَارَبَّ لَّیْلَۃِ الْقَدْرِ وَجَاعِلُھَا خَیْرٌ مِّنْ اَلْفِ شَھْرٍ۔ وَرَبَّ الَّیْلِ وَالنَّھَارِ وَالْجِبَالِ وَالْبِحَارِ وَالظُّلَمِ وَالْاَنْوَارِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاۗئِ۔ یَابَارِیُٔ یَامُصَوِّرُ یَاحَنَّانُ یَامَنَّانُ یَااَللہُ یَااَللہُ یَارَحْمٰنُ یَااَللہُ یَاقَیُّوْمُ یَااَللہُ یَابَدِیْعُ۔ یَااَللہُ یَااَللہُ یَااَللہُ لَکَ الْاَسْمَاۗئُ الْحُسْنٰی وَالْاَمْثَالُ الْعُلْیَا وَالْکِبْرِ یَاۗئُ وَالْاٰلٰآئُ۔ اَسْئَلُکَ اَنْ تُصَلِّیَ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاَھْلِ بَیْتِہٖ وَاَنْ تَجْعَلَ اسْمِیْ فِیْ ھٰذِہِ الَّیْلَۃِ فِی السُّعَدَاۗئِ وَرُوْحِیْ مَعَ الشُّھَدَاۗئِ وَاِحْسَانِیْ فِیْ عِلِّیِّیْنَ وَاِسَاۗئَتِیْ مَغْفُوْرَۃً وَاَنْ تَھَبَ لِیْ یَقِیْنًا تُبَاشِرُ بِہٖ قَلْبِیْ وَاِیْمَانًا یُذْھِبُ الشَّکَّ عَنِّیْ وَتُرْضِیَنِیْ بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِیْ وَاٰتِنَا فِیْ الدُّنْیَا حَسَنَۃً وَّفِیْ الْاٰخِرَۃِ حَسَنَۃً وَّقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الْحَرِیْقٍ وَارْزُقْنِیْ فِیْھَا ذِکْرَکَ وَشُکْرَکَ وَالرَّغْبَۃَ اِلَیْکَ وَالْاِ نَابَۃَ وَالتَّوْبَۃَ وَالتَّوْ فِیْقَ لِمَا وَفَّقْتَ لَہٗ مُحَّمَدًا وَّاٰلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَعَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ۔
Yaa rabbal laiy-latil qadre wa jaa-e’lohaa khairum min alfe shahre.
Wa rabbal laiy-le wan-nahaare wal-jebaa-le wal-behaa-re waz-zola-me wal arze was-samaa-e.
Yaa baare-o yaa mo-sawwe-ro yaa han-naano yaa man-naano yaa allaaho, yaa allaho yaa rah-maano, yaa allaho yaa qaiy-yoomo, yaa allaaho yaa badee-o’.
Yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho, yaa allaaho lakal asmaa-ul husnaa wal amsaa-lul u’l-yaa wal kibre-yaa-o wal aalaa-o.
As-aloka an to-salle-ya a’laa mohammadiw wa ahle baiyte-hi wa an taj-a’las mee fee haaze-hil laiy-late fis-so-a’daa-e wa roohee ma-a’sh-shohdaa-e wa eh-saanee fee i’lliy-yina wa eh-saa-atee magh-foo-ratan wa an tahaba lee yaqee-nan tobaa-shero behi qalbee wa eemaa-nan yuzhe-bush-shakka a’nnee wa turze-yanee be-maa qasam-ta lee wa aate-naa fid-dunyaa hasa-nataw wa fil aa-khe-rate hasa-nataw waqe-naa a’zaa ban-naaril haree-qin war-zuqnee feehaa zikre-ka wa shukra-ka war-ragh-bata ilaiy-ka wal-inaa-bata wat-taw-bata wat-taw-feeqa lemaa waf-faqta lahu mohammadaw wa aale mohammadin sallal laaho a’laiy-he wa a’laiy-he mus-salaamo.
O Lord of the Laylatul Qadr, who made it better than a thousand months. O Lord of nights, days, mountains, oceans, darkness, lights, earth and skies! O Originator! O Illustrator! O Compassionate! O Benefactor! O Allah! O Beneficent! O Allah! O Everlasting! O Allah! O Creator! O Allah! O Allah! O Allah! Thine are the most beautiful names; highest and greatest are the attributes ascribed to Thee. I solicit Thee (alone) for bounties. Send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad and write my name, tonight, in the list of those who have found true happiness, let my soul rest in peace with those who gave their lives in Thy cause, let my good deeds earn for me an honorable place among the dwellers of Paradise, and forgive my sins; grant me sure belief which gives joy and confidence to my heart; and faith which drives away doubts from me. And let me be happy with that which has been determined; give us that which is good in this world and that which is good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of the burning Fire; and keep me alive in a manner that I always sing Thy praise, gratefully thank Thee, call humbly and fervently on Thee, and turn repentant unto Thee; and associate me with that which keeps me attached with Muhammad and Aale Muhammad, peace be on him and peace be on them.
اے شب ِقدر کے پروردگار اور اس کو ہزار مہینوں سے بہتر قرار دینے والے اے رات اوردن کے رب اے پہاڑوں اور دریاؤں، تاریکیوں اور روشنیوں و زمین اور آسمان کے رب اےپیدا کرنے والے ،اے صورت گر، اے محبت والے، اے احسان والے، اے اﷲ، اے رحمٰن ،اے اﷲ، اے نگہبان ،اے اﷲ اے پیدا کرنے والے۔ اے اﷲ، اے اﷲ، اے اﷲ تیرے لیے اچھے اچھے نام،بلند ترین نمونے اور بڑائیاں اور مہربانیاں ہیں میں سوال کرتا ہوں تجھ سے کہ محمدؐ وآل محمدؑ پر رحمت نازل فرما اور یہ کہ آج کی رات میں میرا نام نیکوکاروں کے زمرے میں شمار کر میری روح کو شہیدوں کے ساتھ قرار دے میری نیکی کو مقام ِعلیین میں پہنچا اور میری برائی کو معاف شدہ قرار دے اور یہ کہ مجھے وہ یقین دے جو میرے دل میں پیوست ہو جائے اور وہ ایمان دے جو شک کو مجھ سے دور کردے اور مجھے اس پر راضی بنا جو حصہ تو نے مجھے دیا اور ہمیں دنیا میں بہترین زندگی دے آخرت میں خوش ترین اجر عطا کر اور ہمیں جلانے والی آگ کے عذاب سے بچا اور اس ماہ میں مجھے ہمت دے کہ اس ماہ میں تجھے یادکروں، تیرا شکر بجا لاؤں، تیری طرف توجہ رکھوں، تیری طرف پلٹوں اور توبہ کروں اورمجھے اس عمل کی توفیق دے جس کی توفیق تو نے محمدؐ وآل محمدؑ کو دی کہ خدا رحمت کرے آنحضرتؐ اور ان کی آلؑ پر ۔
یَا مُدَبِّرَ الْاُمُوْرِ، یَا بَاعِثَ مَنْ فِی الْقُبُوْرِ، یَا مُجْرِیَ الْبُحُوْرِ یَا مُلَیِّنَ الْحَدِیْدِ لِدَاؤُدَ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَافْعَلْ بِیْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا اَللَّیْلَۃِ اللَّیْلَۃَ۔
Yaa mo-dabbe-ral omoo-re, yaa baae’sa man fil qoboo-re, yaa mujre-yal bohoo-re, yaa molaiy-yenal hadee-de le-daawoo-da salle a’laa mohammadiw wa aale mohammadin waf-a’l bee kazaa wa kazaa al-laiy-latil laiy-lah.
O the Director of all affairs; O the Resurrector of all those in graves; O He Who causes oceans to flow; O He Who made the iron pliant for (Prophet) David; (Please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad (mention your needs…) this very night; this very night.
اے کاموں کو منظم کرنے والے، اے قبروں سے اٹھاکر کھڑا کرنے والے، اے دریاؤں کو رواں کرنے والے، اے داؤد ؑکے لئے لوہے کو موم بنانے والے، محمدؐ وآل محمدؐ پررحمت نازل فرما اور کر دے میرے لئے یہ اور یہ میرے لئے ایسے ایسے کر دے (اپنی حاجتیں طلب کرے) اسی رات اسی رات۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allahumma swalle alaa muhammadiw wa aale muhammadin
Allah’s (s.w.t) choicest blessings be upon Mohammed and his holy progeny.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آل ؑپر۔
