Baitut Tasht is named thus because Hazrat (a) had given a miraculous judgement here. While an unmarried girl was swimming in a pool, a leech could penetrate into her body to settle in her womb. This leech fed on the blood of that girl and thus grew up. Hence, the girl’s belly began to grow bigger and bigger that her brothers thought that she was illegally pregnant. As they intended to kill their sister, they first presented the case before Imam Ali (a) to decide about her.
بیت الطشت وہ جگہ ہے جہاں امیر المؤمنینؑ سے معجزہ ظاہر ہوا جو ایک کنواری لڑکی کےبارے میں تھا،وہ یوں ہوا کہ وہ لڑکی پانی میں اتری اور ایک جونک اس کے پیٹ میں چلی گئی پھر وہ خون چوس چوس کر بڑی ہوگئی جس سے اس لڑکی کا پیٹ بڑھ گیا اس لڑکی کے بھائی یہ گمان کرنے لگے کہ یہ کنواری ہوتے ہوئے حاملہ ہوگئی ہے لہٰذا وہ اسے قتل کرنے پر آمادہ ہو گئے اب وہ اس امر کا فیصلہ کرانے کے لئے اس لڑکی کو امیر المؤمنینؑ کی خدمت میں لے آئے۔
The Imam (a) ordered that a thick curtain should be erected in one of the sides of the mosque (Masjid Kufa) behind which the girl would sit. The Imam (a) then asked a famous midwife in Kufa city to check the girl. The answer of the midwife came as follows: “O Ameerul Momeneen (a), this girl is pregnant. She carries a fetus in her womb.” However, the Imam (a) ordered them to bring a washtub made of clay and he asked them to make that girl sit there. When the leech felt the stench of the clay, it sneaked out from where it had entered and it fell in the washtub. Thus, the innocence of the girl was proved.
حضرتؑ نے حکم دیا کہ مسجد میں پردہ لگایا جائے پھر اس لڑکی کو پردے میں بٹھایا اور ایک دایہ کو بلوا کر صحیح صورتِ حال معلوم کرنے کے لئے لڑکی کے پاس بھیجا دایہ نے اچھی طرح دیکھنے کے بعد عرض کیا: یا امیر المؤمنینؑ! یہ لڑکی حاملہ ہے اور اس کے شکم میں بچہ ہے اس وقت آپؑ نے فرمایا : ایک طشت (تھال) کیچڑ سے بھر کر لایا جائے اور اس لڑکی کو اس میں بٹھایا جائے جب یہ عمل کیا گیا تو جونک کیچڑ کی بو پا کر اس کے پیٹ سے باہر نکل آئی، ایک اور روایت کے مطابق حضرتؑ نے ہاتھ بڑھا کر شام کے ایک پہاڑ سے برف کا ٹکڑا اٹھا کر تھال میں رکھا تو وہ جونک اس لڑکی کے پیٹ سے باہر نکل آئی اور اس لڑکی کا پاک دامن ہونا ثابت ہوگیا۔
According to other narrations, Imam Ali (a) extended his hand and brought a piece of ice from the mountains of Syria and put it in the washtub, causing the leech to come out. This teaches us a lesson that without reaching to the truth we should not accuse anyone on the basis of outward appearance.
یاد رکھنا چاہیے کہ مسجدِ کوفہ کے اعمال کی مشہور ترتیب یہ ہے کہ چوتھے ستون کا عمل بجا لانے کے بعددرمیانِ مسجد میں جاکر اس کے اعمال بجا لائیں پھر دکہ امام جعفر صادقؑ کے اعمال اور سب سے آخر میں دکۃ القضاء و بیت الطشت کے اعمال بجا لائیں لیکن ان اعمال کے بارے میں ہم نے وہ طریقہ اختیار کیا ہے جسے سید ابن طاؤسؒ نے مصباح الزائر میں علامہ مجلسیؒ نے بحار الانوار میں اور شیخ حضرمیؒ نے مزار میں ذکر کیا ہے ہاں اگر کوئی شخص مشہور طریقہ کے مطابق اعمال کرنا چاہے تو وہ ستونِ چہارم کے بعد دکہ امام جعفر صادقؑ کے اعمال اور پھر دکۃ القضاء اور بیت الطشت کے اعمال بجا لائے۔

بیت الطشت جو دکۃ القضاء کے ساتھ متصل ہے وہاں ۲ رکعت نماز ادا کرے، نماز کے بعد تسبیح فاطمہ زہراءؑ پڑھ کر یہ کہے۔۔۔
بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّیْ ذَخَرْتُ تَوْحِیْدِیْ اِیَّاكَ وَمَعْرِفَتِیْ بِكَ وَاِخْلَاصِیْ لَكَ وَاِقْرَارِیْ بِرُبُوْبِیَّتِكَ وَذَخَرْتُ وِلَایَۃَ مَنْ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَیَّ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِمْ مِنْ بَرِیَّتِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعِتْرَتِهٖ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْهِمْ لِیَوْمِ فَزَعِیْ اِلَیْكَ عَاجِلًا وَآجِلًا۔
Allaahumma innee zakhartu tawheedee iyyaaka wama'rifatee bika wa-ikhlaasee laka wa-iqraaree biruboobiyyatika wazakhartu wilaayata man an'amta 'alayya bima'rifatihim min bariyyatika muhammadin wa'itratihee sallaa allaahu 'alayhim liyawmi faza'ee ilayka 'aajilan wa-aajilaa.
O Allah, I save (the reward of) my submission to Your Oneness, my recognition of You, my sincerity to You, and my bearing witness of Your Godhead, and I also save (the reward of) my loyalty to those with the recognition of whom You have bestowed upon me: namely, Muhammad and his Household, peace of Allah be upon them, (I save all that) to the day of my taking refuge with You, whether in this world or the Hereafter.
اے معبود!میں نے تیری وحدانیت کا اقرار کیا تیری ذات کوپہچاناتجھ پرخلوص کے ساتھ ایمان لایااپنا خالص ایمان اورتیری ربوبیت و پروردگاری کا اعتقاد رکھا میں نے اس ولایت کو تسلیم کیا جو تونے مجھے عطا کی ان کی شناخت کے سبب سےجو تیری مخلوق میں سے ہیں محمدؐ اور ان کی عترتؑ ، خدا رحمت کرے ان پر جس دن تیرے سامنے خوف زدہ ہوں گا دنیا و آخرت میں۔
وَقَدْ فَزِعْتُ اِلَیْكَ وَاِلَیْهِمْ یَا مَوْلَایَ فِیْ هٰذَا الْیَوْمِ وَفِیْ مَوْقِفِیْ هٰذَا وَسَئَلْتُكَ مَادَّتِیْ مِنْ نِعْمَتِكَ وَاِزَاحَۃَ مَا اَخْشَاهُ مِنْ نِقْمَتِكَ وَالْبَرَكَۃَ فِیْمَا رَزَقْتَنِیْهِ وَتَحْصِیْنَ صَدْرِیْ مِنْ كُلِّ هَمٍّ وَّجَآئِحَۃٍ وَّمَعْصِیَۃٍ فِیْ دِیْنِیْ وَدُنْیَایَ وَاٰخِرَتِیْ یَآ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ۔
Waqad fazi'tu ilayka wa-ilayhim yaa mawlaaya fee haazaa al-yawmi wafee mawqifee haazaa wasa'altuka maaddatee min ni'matika wa-izaahata maa akhshaahu min niqmatika wal-barakata feemaa razaqtaneehi watahseena sadree min kulli hammin wajaa'ihatin wama'siyatin fee deenee wadunyaaya wa-aakhiratee yaa arhama ar-raahimeen.
Thus, I am now taking refuge with You, O my Master, and with them, on this day and on this very situation, and I thus beg You for Your increasing bounties, for removing from me Your chastisement that I fear, for blessing all the sustenance which You grant me, and for immunizing my heart from receiving any grievous matter, any calamity, or any act of disobedience to You, regarding my religion, worldly life, and the Next Life. O most merciful of all those who show mercy.
پس میں فریاد کرتا ہوں تیرے اور ان کے آگے اے میرے آقا! آج کے دن اور اسی جگہ جہاں کھڑا ہوں تجھ سے سوال کرتا ہوں مجھے اپنی نعمت میں سے حصہ دے اور تیری جس سزا سے ڈرتا ہوں وہ مجھ سے دور کردے جو روزی مجھے دی اس میں برکت دے اور میرے دل کو ہر اندیشے سے محفوظ رکھ اور ہر ناگواری اور نافرمانی سے جو میرے دین میری دنیا اور آخرت میں ہو اے سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والے۔
اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ۔
Allaahumma salli 'alaa muhammadin wa-aali muhammad.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad.
اے معبود! رحمت نازل فرما حضرت محمدؐ اور انکی آلؑ پر۔
