Surah Qaari’a (101, 11 ayat)سورۂ قارعہ

The text opens by naming the terrible calamity and asking twice what it is. It describes a day when men are as scattered moths and the mountains as loosened wool. People are then divided by the weight of their good deeds: he whose measure is heavy lives a pleasant life, he whose measure is light has the abyss for an abode. The closing lines name a burning fire.

Calamity (Makki)

Imam Muhammad Baqir (a) has said that the person who frequently recites this Surah will be saved from the heat of hellfire. If a businessman or a person in financial difficulties keeps this Surah in his possession, the doors of sustenance will be opened to him. Recitation of this Surah in prayers also increases one’s sustenance. Water in which this Surah has been dissolved is useful in keeping away unwanted pests (eg. Insects and rodents).

امام باقرؑ فرماتے ہیں:سورۂ قارعہ کی تلاوت کرنے والا دجال کے فتنہ سے محفوظ رہے گا دجال پر ایمان نہیں لائے گا روزِ قیامت جہنم کی کثافتوں سے محفوظ رہے گا۔ (مجمع البیان ج۱۰ص۴۲۶)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

اَلْقَارِعَةُ

Al-qaari'atu

The terrible calamity!

کھڑکھڑانے والی۔

مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

Maa al-qaari'ah

What is the terrible calamity!

اور کیسی کھڑکھڑانے والی۔

وَمَآ اَدْرٰكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ

Wamaa adraaka maa al-qaari'ah

And what will make you comprehend what the terrible calamity is?

اور تمہیں کیا معلوم کہ وہ کیسی کھڑکھڑانے والی ہے۔

يَوْمَ يَكُوْنُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوْثِ

Yawma yakoonu an-naasu kal-faraashi al-mabthooth

The day on which men shall be as scattered moths

جس دن لوگ بکھرے ہوئے پتنگوں کی مانند ہو جائیں گے۔

وَتَكُوْنُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنْفُوْشِ

Watakoonu al-jibaalu kal-'ihni al-manfoosh

And the mountains shall be as loosened wool.

اور پہاڑ دھنکی ہوئی روئی کی طرح اُڑنے لگیں گے۔

فَاَمَّا مَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِيْنُهٗ

Fa-ammaa man thaqulat mawaazeenuh

Then as for him whose measure of good deeds is heavy

تو اس دن جس کی نیکیوں کا پلہ بھاری ہو گا۔

فَهُوَ فِيْ عِيْشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ

Fahuwa fee 'eeshatin raadiyah

He shall live a pleasant life.

وہ پسندیدہ عیش میں ہو گا۔

وَاَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِيْنُهٗ

Wa-ammaa man khaffat mawaazeenuh

And as for him whose measure of good deeds is light

اور جس کا پلہ ہلکا ہو گا۔

فَاُمُّهٗ هَاوِيَةٌ

Fa-ummuhoo haawiyah

His abode shall be the abyss.

اس کا مرکز ہاویہ ہے۔

وَمَآ اَدْرٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ

Wamaa adraaka maa hiyah

And what will make you know what it is?

اور تم کیا جانو کہ ہاویہ کیا مصیبت ہے۔

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ

Naarun haamiyah

A burning fire.

یہ ایک دہکی ہوئی آگ ہے۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
