Surah Asr (103, 3 ayat)سورۂ عصر

An oath by time opens the passage, followed by the declaration that man is in loss. The one exception it names is those who believe and do good, and who enjoin truth on each other and enjoin patience on each other. The whole passage turns on that single exception.

Age (Makki)

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) has said that the person who recites this Surah in his mustahab namaz will have a shining face on the Day of Judgement. The one who recites this Surah will be patient in adversity and will be counted from among the people of truth. If this Surah is written after Isha prayers and kept, it will be a safety from the tyrant ruler in whose presence one is brought.

امام صادقؑ فرماتے ہیں:جس نے مستحب نماز میں سورۂ عصر کی تلاوت کی روزِ قیامت خدا اسے اس حالت میں اٹھائے گا کہ چہرہ نورانی وخندان ہوگا اور وہ داخلِ بہشت ہوگا۔ (مجمع البیان ج۱۰ص۴۳۴)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

وَالْعَصْرِ

Wal-'asri

I swear by the time

قسم ہے عصر کی۔

اِنَّ الْاِنْسَانَ لَفِيْ خُسْرٍ

Inna al-insaana lafee khusr

Most surely man is in loss

بے شک انسان خسارہ میں ہے۔

اِلَّا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ

Illaa allazeena aamanoo wa'amiloo as-saalihaati watawaasaw bil-haqqi watawaasaw bis-sabr

Except those who believe and do good, and enjoin on each other truth, and enjoin on each other patience.

علاوہ ان لوگوں کے جو ایمان لائے اور انہوں نے نیک اعمال کئے اور ایک دوسرے کو حق اور صبر کی وصیت و نصیحت کی۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
