Woe is pronounced on every slanderer and defamer, who amasses wealth, counts it a provision, and thinks it will make him immortal. He shall instead be hurled into the crushing disaster, and the text asks what will make the hearer realise what that is. It names a fire kindled by Allah, rising above the hearts, closed over them in extended columns.

Slanderer (Makki)

The Holy Prophet (s) said that the reward for reciting this Surah can be compared to 10 times the number of disbelievers who were present in Makkah.Reciting Surah Humazah in compulsory prayers keeps a person safe from poverty. Sustenance comes towards him. His death will not be of a sudden and terrifying nature. This Surah is also a cure for pain in the eyes and should be recited before blowing gently into the eyes for relief from pain. Keeping this Surah in a talisman around one’s neck acts as a protection from the ‘evil eye’.

امام جعفرصادقؑ فرماتے ہیں:واجب نماز میں سورۂ ہمزہ پڑھنے والافقروفاقہ سے دوررہےگاخدا اسے رزق عطاکرے گا بُری موت سے محفوظ رہے گا۔ (مجمع البیان ج۱۰،ص۴۳۷)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem auto

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

وَيْلٌ لِّكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُّمَزَةٍ

Waylun likulli humazatin lumazah auto

Woe to every slanderer, defamer

تباہی اور بربادی ہے ہر طعنہ زن اور چغل خور کے لئے۔

اَلَّذِيْ جَمَعَ مَالًا وَّعَدَّدَهٗ

Allazee jama'a maalan wa'addadah auto

Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap);

جس نے مال کو جمع کیا اور خوب اس کا حساب رکھا۔

يَحْسَبُ اَنَّ مَالَهٗٓ اَخْلَدَهٗ

Yahsabu anna maalahoo akhladah auto

He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.

اس کا خیال تھا کہ یہ مال اسے ہمیشہ باقی رکھے گا۔

كَلَّا لَيُنْۢبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ

Kallaa layunbazanna fee al-hutamah auto

Nay! he shall most certainly be hurled into the crushing disaster

ہرگز نہیں اسے یقینًا حطمہ میں ڈال دیا جائے گا۔

وَمَآ اَدْرٰكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ

Wamaa adraaka maa al-hutamah auto

And what will make you realize what the crushing disaster is?

اور تم کیا جانو کہ حطمہ کیا شے ہے۔

نَارُ اللهِ الْمُوْقَدَةُ

Naaru allaahi al-mooqadah auto

It is the fire kindled by Allah

یہ اللہ کی بھڑکائی ہوئی آگ ہے۔

اَلَّتِيْ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْاَفْئِدَةِ

Allatee tattali'u 'alaa al-af'idah auto

Which rises above the hearts.

جو دلوں تک چڑھتی جائے گی۔

اِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِم مُّؤْصَدَةٌ

Innahaa 'alayhim mu'sadah auto

Surely it shall be closed over upon them

وہ آگ ان کے اوپر گھیر دی جائے گی۔

فِيْ عَمَدٍ مُّمَدَّدَةٍ

Fee 'amadin mumaddadah auto

لمبے لمبے ستونوں کے ساتھ۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem. auto

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
