Surah Muzzammil (73, 20 ayat)
The opening addresses one wrapped up in his garments, calling him to rise in the night and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. It speaks of bearing patiently what the rejecters say, of a day when the mountains become heaps of sand, and of Firon, who disobeyed the apostle sent to him. The long closing verse returns to the night and to reading what is easy.

Wrapped Up (Makki)
It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that a person who recites this Surah will never face bad times. The person who recites it in the Isha or Tahajjud prayers always remains pure of heart and even dies while he is in a pure state. Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) said that a person who recites this Surah properly will get a chance to meet the Holy Prophet (s) and if he prays for something from Allah (s) he will get it. Reciting Surah Muzzammil 100 times on Thursday night leads to the forgiving of 1000 major sins and procures a hundred rewards. Recitation of this Surah protects one from insanity and from being a slave to people.

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
Yaa ayyuhaa al-muzzammil
O you who have wrapped up in your garments!
Qumi allayla illaa qaleelaa
Rise to pray in the night except a little
Nisfahoo awi unqus minhu qaleelaa
Half of it, or lessen it a little
Aw zid 'alayhi warattili al-qur'aana tarteelaa
Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited.
Innaa sanulqee 'alayka qawlan thaqeelaa
Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word.
Inna naashi'ata allayli hiya ashaddu wat''an wa-aqwamu qeelaa
Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech.
Inna laka fee an-nahaari sabhan taweelaa
Surely you have in the daytime a long occupation.
Wazkuri isma rabbika watabattal ilayhi tabteelaa
And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion.
Rabbu al-mashriqi wal-maghribi laa ilaaha illaa huwa fattakhizhu wakeelaa
The Lord of the East and the West- there is no god but He- therefore take Him for a protector.
Wasbir 'alaa maa yaqooloona wahjurhum hajran jameelaa
And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance.
Wazarnee wal-mukazzibeena oolee an-na'mati wamahhilhum qaleelaa
And leave Me and the rejecters, the possessors of ease and plenty, and respite them a little.
Inna ladaynaa ankaalan wajaheemaa
Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire
Wata'aaman zaa ghussatin wa'azaaban aleemaa
And food that chokes and a painful punishment
Yawma tarjufu al-ardu wal-jibaalu wakaanati al-jibaalu katheeban maheelaa
On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose.
Innaa arsalnaa ilaykum rasoolan shaahidan 'alaykum kamaa arsalnaa ilaa fir'awna rasoolaa
Surely We have sent to you an Apostle, a witness against you, as We sent an apostle to Firon.
Fa'asaa fir'awnu ar-rasoola fa-akhaznaahu akhzan wabeelaa
But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold.
Fakayfa tattaqoona in kafartum yawman yaj'alu al-wildaana sheebaa
How, then, will you guard yourselves, if you disbelieve, on the day which shall make children grey-headed?
As-samaa'u munfatirun bihee kaana wa'duhoo maf'oolaa
The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment.
Inna haazihee tazkiratun faman shaa'a ittakhaza ilaa rabbihee sabeelaa
Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord.

Surely your Lord knows that you pass in prayer nearly two-thirds of the night, and (sometimes) half of it, and (sometimes) a third of it, and (also) a party of those with you; and Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are not able to do it, so He has turned to you (mercifully), therefore read what is easy of the Quran. He knows that there must be among you sick, and others who travel in the land seeking of the bounty of Allah, and others who fight in Allah’s way, therefore read as much of it as is easy (to you), and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate and offer to Allah a goodly gift, and whatever of good you send on beforehand for yourselves, you will find it with Allah; that is best and greatest in reward; and ask forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
