Surah Dahr (76, 31 ayat)سورۂ انسان

It opens with a period of time over man when he was a thing not worth mentioning, created from a small life-germ and shown the way to be thankful or unthankful. A long passage describes the righteous who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for Allah's sake alone, and the garden, silk and the fountain named Salsabil. It later calls for patience and for glorifying the Lord morning and evening.

Time (Madani)

It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that the reward for reciting this Surah is Jannah and its bounties. If a person recites this Surah, especially on Thursday mornings, he will be rewarded with a 100 houries and 4000 slaves in Jannah and he will be given a place close to that of the Holy Prophet (s). Reciting it in war brings victory. Drinking water in which this Surah has been dissolved is good for those with heart problems.

امام باقرؑ نے فرمایا:جو شخص ہر جمعرات کو طلوع آفتاب سے قبل سورۂ انسان کی تلاوت کرے گا خداوندعالم حورالعین کے ساتھ اس کی شادی کرے گا۔ (مجمع البیان،ج۱۰،ص۲۰۶)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

هَلْ اَتٰى عَلَى الْاِنْسَانِ حِيْنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْئًا مَّذْكُوْرًا

Hal ataa 'alaa al-insaani heenun mina ad-dahri lam yakun shay'an mazkooraa

There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning.

یقینًا انسان پر ایک ایسا وقت بھی آیا ہے کہ جب وہ کوئی قابل ذکر شے نہیں تھا۔

اِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ اَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيْهِ فَجَعَلْنٰهُ سَمِيْعًۢا بَصِيْرًا

Innaa khalaqnaa al-insaana min nutfatin amshaajin nabtaleehi faja'alnaahu samee'an baseeraa

Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing.

یقینًا ہم نے انسان کو ایک ملے جلے نطفہ سے پیدا کیا ہے تاکہ اس کا امتحان لیں اور پھر اسے سماعت اور بصارت والا بنا دیا ہے۔

اِنَّا هَدَيْنٰهُ السَّبِيْلَ اِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَّاِمَّا كَفُوْرًا

Innaa hadaynaahu as-sabeela immaa shaakiran wa-immaa kafooraa

Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful.

یقینًا ہم نے اسے راستہ کی ہدایت دے دی ہے چاہے وہ شکر گزار ہو جائے یا کفرانِ نعمت کرنے والا ہو جائے۔

اِنَّآ اَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكٰفِرِيْنَ سَلٰسِلَا۟ وَاَغْلٰلًا وَّسَعِيْرًا

Innaa a'tadnaa lil-kaafireena salaasilaa wa-aghlaalan wasa'eeraa

Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire.

بےشک ہم نے کافرین کے لئے زنجیریں، طوق اور بھڑکتے ہوئے شعلوں کا انتظام کیا ہے۔

اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُوْنَ مِنْ كَاْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُوْرًا

Inna al-abraara yashraboona min ka'sin kaana mizaajuhaa kaafooraa

Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor

بےشک ہمارے نیک بندے اس پیالہ سے پئیں گے جس میں شراب کے ساتھ کافور کی آمیزش ہو گی۔

عَيْنًا يَّشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللهِ يُفَجِّرُوْنَهَا تَفْجِيْرًا

'Aynan yashrabu bihaa 'ibaadu allaahi yufajjiroonahaa tafjeeraa

A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth.

یہ ایک چشمہ ہے جس سے اللہ کے نیک بندے پئیں گے اور جدھر چاہیں گے بہا کر لے جائیں گے۔

يُوْفُوْنَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُوْنَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهٗ مُسْتَطِيْرًا

Yoofoona bin-nazri wayakhaafoona yawman kaana sharruhoo mustateeraa

They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide.

یہ بندے نذر کو پورا کرتے ہیں اور اس دن سے ڈرتے ہیں جس کی سختی ہر طرف پھیلی ہوئی ہے۔

وَيُطْعِمُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ عَلٰى حُبِّهٖ مِسْكِيْنًا وَّيَتِيْمًا وَّاَسِيْرًا

Wayut'imoona at-ta'aama 'alaa hubbihee miskeenan wayateeman wa-aseeraa

And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive:

یہ اس کی محبت میں مسکین، یتیم اور اسیر کو کھانا کھلاتے ہیں۔

اِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللهِ لَا نُرِيْدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَآءً وَّلَا شُكُوْرًا

Innamaa nut'imukum liwajhi allaahi laa nureedu minkum jazaa'an walaa shukooraa

We only feed you for Allah’s sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks:

ہم صرف اللہ کی مرضی کی خاطر تمہیں کھلاتے ہیں ورنہ نہ تم سے کوئی بدلہ چاہتے ہیں نہ شکریہ۔

اِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوْسًا قَمْطَرِيْرًا

Innaa nakhaafu min rabbinaa yawman 'aboosan qamtareeraa

Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day.

ہم اپنے پروردگار سے اس دن کے بارے میں ڈرتے ہیں جس دن چہرے بگڑ جائیں گے اور ان پر ہوائیاں اڑنے لگیں گی۔

فَوَقٰهُمُ اللهُ شَرَّ ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقّٰهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَّسُرُوْرًا

Fawaqaahumu allaahu sharra zaalika al-yawmi walaqqaahum nadratan wasurooraa

Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness;

تو خدا نے انہیں اس دن کی سختی سے بچا لیا اور تازگی اور سرور عطا کر دیا۔

وَجَزٰهُمْ بِمَا صَبَرُوْا جَنَّةً وَّحَرِيْرًا

Wajazaahum bimaa sabaroo jannatan wahareeraa

And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk

اور انہیں ان کے صبر کے عوض جنّت اور حریر جنّت عطا کرے گا۔

مُتَّكِئِيْنَ فِيْهَا عَلَى الْاَرَآئِكِ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيْهَا شَمْسًا وَّلَا زَمْهَرِيْرًا

Muttaki'eena feehaa 'alaa al-araa'iki laa yarawna feehaa shamsan walaa zamhareeraa

Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold.

جہاں وہ تختوں پر تکیہ لگائے بیٹھے ہوں گے نہ آفتاب کی گرمی دیکھیں گے اور نہ سردی۔

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوْفُهَا تَذْلِيْلًا

Wadaaniyatan 'alayhim zilaaluhaa wazullilat qutoofuhaa tazleelaa

And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach.

ان کے سروں پر قریب ترین سایہ ہو گا اور میوے بالکل ان کے اختیار میں کر دیئے جائیں گے۔

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِاٰنِيَةٍ مِّنْ فِضَّةٍ وَّاَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيْرَا۟

Wayutaafu 'alayhim bi-aaniyatin min fiddatin wa-akwaabin kaanat qawaareeraa

And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass

ان کے گرد چاندی کے پیالے اور شیشے کے ساغروں کی گردش ہو گی۔

قَوَارِيْرَا۟ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوْهَا تَقْدِيْرًا

Qawaareeraa min fiddatin qaddaroohaa taqdeeraa

(Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure.

یہ ساغر بھی چاندی ہی کے ہوں گے جنہیں یہ لوگ اپنے پیمانہ کے مطابق بنا لیں گے۔

وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيْهَا كَاْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنْجَبِيْلًا

Wayusqawna feehaa ka'san kaana mizaajuhaa zanjabeelaa

And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger

یہ وہاں ایسے پیالے سے سیراب کئے جائیں گے جس میں زنجبیل کی آمیزش ہوگی۔

عَيْنًا فِيْهَا تُسَمّٰى سَلْسَبِيْلًا

'Aynan feehaa tusammaa salsabeelaa

(Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil.

جو جنّت کا ایک چشمہ ہے جسے سلسبیل کہا جاتا ہے۔

وَيَطُوْفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُوْنَ اِذَا رَاَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنْثُوْرًا

Wayatoofu 'alayhim wildaanun mukhalladoona izaa ra'aytahum hasibtahum lu'lu'an manthooraa

And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls.

اور ان کے گرد ہمیشہ نوجوان رہنے والے بچے گردش کر رہے ہوں گے کہ تم انہیں دیکھو گے تو بکھرے ہوئے موتی معلوم ہوں گے۔

وَاِذَا رَاَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَاَيْتَ نَعِيْمًا وَّمُلْكًا كَبِيْرًا

Wa-izaa ra'ayta thamma ra'ayta na'eeman wamulkan kabeeraa

And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom.

اور پھر دوبارہ دیکھو گے تو نعمتیں اور ایک ملک کبیر نظر آئے گا۔

عٰلِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُنْدُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَّاِسْتَبْرَقٌ وَّحُلُّوْٓا اَسَاوِرَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَّسَقٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُوْرًا

'Aaliyahum thiyaabu sundusin khudrun wa-istabraqun wahulloo asaawira min fiddatin wasaqaahum rabbuhum sharaaban tahooraa

Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink.

ان کے اوپر کریب کے سبز لباس اور ریشم کے حلے ہوں گے اور انہیں چاندی کے کنگن پہنائے جائیں گے اور انہیں ان کا پروردگار پاکیزہ شراب سے سیراب کرے گا۔

اِنَّ هٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءً وَّكَانَ سَعْيُكُمْ مَّشْكُوْرًا

Inna haazaa kaana lakum jazaa'an wakaana sa'yukum mashkooraa

Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed.

یہ سب تمہاری جزا ہے اور تمہاری سعی (کوشش) قابل قبول ہے۔

اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْاٰنَ تَنْزِيْلًا

Innaa nahnu nazzalnaa 'alayka al-qur'aana tanzeelaa

Surely We Ourselves have revealed the Quran to you revealing (it) in portions.

ہم نے آپ پر قرآن تدریجًا (ایک کے بعد ایک) نازل کیا ہے۔

فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ اٰثِمًا اَوْ كَفُوْرًا

Fasbir lihukmi rabbika walaa tuti' minhum aathiman aw kafooraa

Therefore wait patiently for the command of your Lord, and obey not from among them a sinner or an ungrateful one.

لہذا آپ حکمِ خدا کی خاطر صبر کریں اور کسی گناہ گار یا کافر کی بات میں نہ آجائیں۔

وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَّاَصِيْلًا

Wazkuri isma rabbika bukratan wa-aseelaa

And glorify the name of your Lord morning and evening.

اور صبح و شام اپنے پروردگار کے نام کی تسبیح کرتے رہیں۔

وَمِنَ الَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهٗ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيْلًا

Wamina allayli fasjud lahoo wasabbihhu laylan taweelaa

And during part of the night adore Him, and give glory to Him (a) long (part of the) night.

اور رات کے ایک حصّہ میں اس کا سجدہ کریں اور بڑی رات تک اس کی تسبیح کرتے رہیں۔

اِنَّ هٰٓؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّوْنَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُوْنَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيْلًا

Inna haa'ulaa'i yuhibboona al-'aajilata wayazaroona waraa'ahum yawman thaqeelaa

Surely these love the transitory and neglect a grievous day before them.

یہ لوگ صرف دنیا کی نعمتوں کو پسند کرتے ہیں اور اپنے پیچھے ایک بڑے سنگین دن کو چھوڑے ہوئے ہیں۔

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَآ اَسْرَهُمْ وَاِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَآ اَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيْلًا

Nahnu khalaqnaahum washadadnaa asrahum wa-izaa shi'naa baddalnaa amthaalahum tabdeelaa

We created them and made firm their make, and when We please We will bring in their place the likes of them by a change.

ہم نے ان کو پیدا کیا ہے اور ان کے اعضاء کو مضبوط بنایا ہے اور جب چاہیں گے تو انہیں بدل کر ان کے جیسے دوسرے افراد لے آئیں گے۔

اِنَّ هٰذِهٖ تَذْكِرَةٌ فَمَنْ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰى رَبِّهٖ سَبِيْلًا

Inna haazihee tazkiratun faman shaa'a ittakhaza ilaa rabbihee sabeelaa

Surely this is a reminder, so whoever pleases takes to his Lord a way.

یہ ایک نصیحت کا سامان ہے اب جس کا جی چاہے اپنے پروردگار کے راستہ کو اختیار کر لے۔

وَمَا تَشَآءُوْنَ اِلَّآ اَنْ يَّشَآءَ اللهُ اِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ عَلِيْمًا حَكِيْمًا

Wamaa tashaa'oona illaa an yashaa'a allaahu inna allaaha kaana 'aleeman hakeemaa

And you do not please except that Allah please, surely Allah is Knowing, Wise;

اور تم لوگ تو صرف وہی چاہتے ہو جو پروردگار چاہتا ہے بےشک اللہ ہر چیز کا جاننے والا اور صاحبِ حکمت ہے۔

يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ فِيْ رَحْمَتِهٖ وَالظّٰلِمِيْنَ اَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا اَلِيْمًا

Yudkhilu man yashaa'u fee rahmatihee waz-zaalimeena a'adda lahum 'azaaban aleemaa

He makes whom He pleases to enter into His mercy; and (as for) the unjust, He has prepared for them a painful chastisement.

وہ جسے چاہتا ہے اپنی رحمت میں داخل کر لیتا ہے اور اس نے ظالمین کے لئے درد ناک عذاب مہیّا کر رکھا ہے۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
