Surah Naba (78, 40 ayat)سورۂ نباء

It begins with a question about what they ask one another, the great event over which they differ. The answer runs through the earth as an even expanse, night as a covering and water poured from the clouds, then the day of decision when the trumpet is blown. Hell lies in wait for the inordinate, gardens and a pure cup for those who guard, and the unbeliever wishes he were dust.

Great News (Makki)

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) has said that whoever recites this Surah every day will be fortunate enough to visit Masjidul Haraam in the same year. The Holy Prophet (s) said that memorization of this Surah carries great reward. If this Surah is recited with the intention of staying awake, then the reciter will not fall asleep and if it is recited before travelling then the journey will become easy. Drinking water in which this Surah has been dissolved cures stomach problems.

امام صادقؑ نے فرمایا:جو شخص پابندی سے سورۂ نبا کی تلاوت کرے سال ختم نہیں ہوگا کہ خداوند عالم اسے بیت اللہ الحرام کی زیارت سے مشرف کرے گا (مجمع البیان،ج۱۰ص۲۳۷)۔ شیخ طبرسیؒ نے مجمع البیان میں اُبی ابن کعب سے روایت کی ہے کہ رسول اللہؐ نے فرمایا :جو شخص ہر روز سورۂ نبا پڑھے تو خدا قیامت کے دن اس کو ٹھنڈے پانی سے سیراب کرے گا۔ واضح رہے کہ اہل بیتؑ کی روایات میں مذکورہے کہ نباء عظیم سے مراد ولایت ہے اور حضرت امیرالمومنینؑ ہی نباء عظیم کا مصداق ہیں۔ حضرت علیؑ ہی نباء عظیم،کشتی نوح اور باب اﷲ ہیں۔

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُوْنَ

'Amma yatasaa'aloon

Of what do they ask one another?

یہ لوگ آپس میں کس چیز کے بارے میں سوال کر رہے ہیں۔

عَنِ النَّبَاِ الْعَظِيْمِ

'Ani an-naba'i al-'azeem

About the great event

بہت بڑی خبر کے بارے میں۔

اَلَّذِيْ هُمْ فِيْهِ مُخْتَلِفُوْنَ

Allazee hum feehi mukhtalifoon

About which they differ?

جس کے بارے میں ان میں اختلاف ہے۔

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُوْنَ

Kallaa saya'lamoon

Nay! they shall soon come to know.

کچھ نہیں عنقریب انہیں معلوم ہو جائے گا۔

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُوْنَ

Thumma kallaa saya'lamoon

Nay! Nay! they shall soon know.

اور خوب معلوم ہو جائے گا۔

اَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْاَرْضَ مِهٰدًا

Alam naj'ali al-arda mihaadaa

Have We not made the earth an even expanse?

کیا ہم نے زمین کا فرش نہیں بنایا ہے۔

وَالْجِبَالَ اَوْتَادًا

Wal-jibaala awtaadaa

And the mountains as projections (thereon)?

اور پہاڑوں کی میخیں نہیں نصب کی ہیں۔

وَخَلَقْنٰكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا

Wakhalaqnaakum azwaajaa

And We created you in pairs

اور ہم ہی نے تم کو جوڑا بنایا ہے۔

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا

Waja'alnaa nawmakum subaataa

And We made your sleep to be rest (to you)

اور تمہاری نیند کو آرام کا سامان قرار دیا ہے۔

وَجَعَلْنَا الَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا

Waja'alnaa allayla libaasaa

And We made the night to be a covering

اور رات کو پردہ پوش بنایا ہے۔

وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا

Waja'alnaa an-nahaara ma'aashaa

And We made the day for seeking livelihood.

اور دن کو وقتِ معاش قرار دیا ہے۔

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا

Wabanaynaa fawqakum sab'an shidaadaa

And We made above you seven strong ones

اور تمہارے سروں پر سات مضبوط آسمان بنائے ہیں۔

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًا

Waja'alnaa siraajan wahhaajaa

And We made a shining lamp

اور ایک بھڑکتا ہوا چراغ بنایا ہے۔

وَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا

Wa-anzalnaa mina al-mu'siraati maa'an thajjaajaa

And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly

اور بادلوں میں سے موسلا دھار پانی برسایا ہے۔

لِنُخْرِجَ بِهٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًا

Linukhrija bihee habban wanabaataa

That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs

تاکہ اس کے ذریعہ دانے اور گھاس برآمد کریں۔

وَجَنّٰتٍ اَلْفَافًا

Wajannaatin al-faafaa

And gardens dense and luxuriant.

اور گھنے گھنے باغات پیدا کریں۔

اِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيْقَاتًا

Inna yawma al-fasli kaana meeqaataa

Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed:

بےشک فیصلہ کا دن معین ہے۔

يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّوْرِ فَتَاْتُوْنَ اَفْوَاجًا

Yawma yunfakhu fee as-soori fata'toona afwaajaa

The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts

جس دن صور پھونکا جائے گا اور تم سب فوج در فوج آؤ گے۔

وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ اَبْوَابًا

Wafutihati as-samaa'u fakaanat abwaabaa

And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings

اور آسمان کے راستے کھول دیئے جائیں گے اور دروازے بن جائیں گے۔

وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

Wasuyyirati al-jibaalu fakaanat saraabaa

And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance.

اور پہاڑوں کو جگہ سے حرکت دے دی جائے گی اور وہ ریت جیسے ہو جائیں گے۔

اِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا

Inna jahannama kaanat mirsaadaa

Surely hell lies in wait

بےشک جہنّم ان کی گھات (انتظار) میں ہے۔

لِلطَّاغِيْنَ مَاٰبًا

Lit-taagheena ma'aabaa

A place of resort for the inordinate

وہ سرکشوں کا آخری ٹھکانا ہے۔

لٰبِثِيْنَ فِيْهَآ اَحْقَابًا

Laabitheena feehaa ahqaabaa

Living therein for ages.

اس میں وہ مدتوں رہیں گے۔

لَا يَذُوْقُوْنَ فِيْهَا بَرْدًا وَّلَا شَرَابًا

Laa yazooqoona feehaa bardan walaa sharaabaa

They shall not taste therein cool nor drink

نہ ٹھنڈک کا مزہ چکھ سکیں گے اور نہ کسی پینے کی چیز کا۔

اِلَّا حَمِيْمًا وَّغَسَّاقًا

Illaa hameeman waghassaaqaa

But boiling and intensely cold water

علاوہ کھولتے پانی اور پیپ کے۔

جَزَآءً وِّفَاقًا

Jazaa'an wifaaqaa

Requital corresponding.

یہ ان کے اعمال کا مکمل بدلہ ہے۔

اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا لَا يَرْجُوْنَ حِسَابًا

Innahum kaanoo laa yarjoona hisaabaa

Surely they feared not the account

یہ لوگ حساب و کتاب کی امید ہی نہیں رکھتے تھے۔

وَكَذَّبُوْا بِاٰيٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا

Wakazzaboo bi-aayaatinaa kizzaabaa

And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth).

اور انہوں نے ہماری آیات کی باقاعدہ تکذیب کی ہے۔

وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ اَحْصَيْنٰهُ كِتٰبًا

Wakulla shay'in ahsaynaahu kitaabaa

And We have recorded everything in a book

اور ہم نے ہر شے کو اپنی کتاب میں جمع کر لیا ہے۔

فَذُوْقُوْا فَلَن نَّزِيْدَكُمْ اِلَّا عَذَابًا

Fazooqoo falan nazeedakum illaa 'azaabaa

So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement.

اب تم اپنے اعمال کا مزہ چکھو اور ہم عذاب کے علاوہ کوئی اضافہ نہیں کر سکتے۔

اِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِيْنَ مَفَازًا

Inna lil-muttaqeena mafaazaa

Surely for those who guard (against evil) is achievement

بےشک صاحبانِ تقویٰ کے لئے کامیابی کی منزل ہے۔

حَدَآئِقَ وَاَعْنَابًا

Hadaa'iqa wa-a'naabaa

Gardens and vineyards

باغات ہیں اور انگور۔

وَكَوَاعِبَ اَتْرَابًا

Wakawaa'iba atraabaa

And those showing freshness of youth, equals in age

نوخیز دوشیزائیں ہیں اور سب ہمسن۔

وَكَاْسًا دِهَاقًا

Waka'san dihaaqaa

And a pure cup.

اور چھلکتے ہوئے پیمانے۔

لَا يَسْمَعُوْنَ فِيْهَا لَغْوًا وَّلَا كِذّٰبًا

Laa yasma'oona feehaa laghwan walaa kizzaabaa

They shall not hear therein any vain words nor lying.

وہاں نہ کوئی لغو بات سنیں گے نہ گناہ۔

جَزَآءً مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا

Jazaa'an min rabbika 'ataa'an hisaabaa

A reward from your Lord, a gift according to a reckoning:

یہ تمہارے رب کی طرف سے حساب کی ہوئی عطا ہے اور تمہارے اعمال کی جزا۔

رَبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمٰنِ لَا يَمْلِكُوْنَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا

Rabbi as-samaawaati wal-ardi wamaa baynahumaa ar-rahmaani laa yamlikoona minhu khitaabaa

The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Beneficent God, they shall not be able to address Him.

وہ آسمان و زمین اور ان کے مابین کا پروردگار رحمٰن ہے جس کے سامنے کسی کو بات کرنے کا یارا نہیں ہے۔

يَوْمَ يَقُوْمُ الرُّوْحُ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّا لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُوْنَ اِلَّا مَنْ اَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا

Yawma yaqoomu ar-roohu wal-malaa'ikatu saffan laa yatakallamoona illaa man azina lahu ar-rahmaanu waqaala sawaabaa

The day on which the spirit and the angels shall stand in ranks; they shall not speak except he whom the Beneficent God permits and who speaks the right thing.

جس دن روح القدس اور ملائکہ صف بستہ کھڑے ہوں گے اور کوئی بات بھی نہ کر سکے گا علاوہ اس کے جسے رحمٰن اجازت دے دے اور ٹھیک ٹھیک بات کرے۔

ذٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ فَمَنْ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰى رَبِّهٖ مَاٰبًا

Zaalika al-yawmu al-haqqu faman shaa'a ittakhaza ilaa rabbihee ma'aabaa

That is the sure day, so whoever desires may take refuge with his Lord.

یہی برحق دن ہے تو جس کا جی چاہے اپنے رب کی طرف ٹھکانا بنا لے۔

اِنَّآ اَنْذَرْنٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيْبًا یَّوْمَ يَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدٰهُ وَيَقُوْلُ الْكٰفِرُ يٰلَيْتَنِيْ كُنْتُ تُرَابًا

Innaa anzarnaakum 'azaaban qareeban yawma yanzuru al-mar'u maa qaddamat yadaahu wayaqoolu al-kaafiru yaa laytanee kuntu turaabaa

Surely We have warned you of a chastisement near at hand: the day when man shall see what his two hands have sent before, and the unbeliever shall say: O! would that I were dust!

ہم نے تم کو ایک قریبی عذاب سے ڈرایا ہے جس دن انسان اپنے کئے دھرے کو دیکھے گا اور کافر کہے گا کہ اے کاش میں خاک ہو گیا ہوتا۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
