Surah A’bas (80, 42 ayat)
A frown and a turning away open the text, when the blind man came and the one who considered himself free from need was addressed instead. It calls itself an admonishment in honored books, and tells man to look at his food, the grain, olive and palm. It ends with the deafening cry, when a man flies from his brother, and faces are bright or covered with dust.

Frowned (Makki)
It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that the person who recites this Surah will come out of his grave laughing on the Day of Resurrection. Writing this Surah as a talisman on deer skin and keeping it in one’s possession makes one successful in all his endeavours. If it is recited during a journey, then the traveller will return home safely. Whoever recites this Surah with Surah Takweer will be under the shade of the Holy Prophet (s) in Jannah.
Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem
In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.
'Abasa watawallaa
He frowned and turned (his) back
An jaa'ahu al-a'maa
Because there came to him the blind man.
Wamaa yudreeka la'allahoo yazzakkaa
And what would make you know that he would purify himself
Aw yazzakkaru fatanfa'ahu az-zikraa
Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?
Ammaa mani istaghnaa
As for him who considers himself free from need (of you)
Fa-anta lahoo tasaddaa
To him do you address yourself.
Wamaa 'alayka allaa yazzakkaa
And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself.
Wa-ammaa man jaa'aka yas'aa
And as to him who comes to you striving hard
Wahuwa yakhshaa
And he fears
Fa-anta 'anhu talahhaa
From him will you divert yourself.
Kallaa innahaa tazkirah
Nay! surely it is an admonishment.

Qutila al-insaanu maa akfarah
Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he!

Min ayyi shay'in khalaqah
Of what thing did He create him?
Min nutfatin khalaqahoo faqaddarah
Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure
Thumma as-sabeela yassarah
Then (as for) the way- He has made it easy (for him)
Thumma amaatahoo fa-aqbarah
Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave
Thumma izaa shaa'a ansharah
Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again.
Kallaa lammaa yaqdi maa amarah
Nay; but he has not done what He bade him.

Thumma shaqaqnaa al-arda shaqqaa
Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder

Fa-izaa jaa'ati as-saakhkhah
But when the deafening cry comes
