Surah Fajr (89, 30 ayat)سورۂ فجر

Ad of the lofty buildings, Samood who hewed the rocks in the valley, and Firon the lord of hosts are recalled after oaths by the daybreak and the departing night. The text then turns on man, who reads ease as honour and hardship as disgrace while neglecting the orphan and the poor and loving wealth. It closes by addressing the soul at rest, called back to its Lord.

Daybreak (Makki)

Imam Jafar Sadiq (a) urged believers to recite this Surah in their prayers as it is the Surah of Imam Husayn (a) and the one who recites it often will be in the company of Imam Husayn (a) on the Day of Judgement. It is narrated from the Holy Prophet (s) that the one who recites this Surah, Allah (s) will forgive his sins amounting to 10 times the number of people who recite this Surah. On the Day of Reckoning he will have a shining light. If this Surah is written as a talisman and then tied to one’s back, after which he goes into his wife, then Allah (s) will give him a child who will be a means of pride and blessings for him.

حضور اکرمؐ نےفرمایا:جو شخص لیال عشر یعنی دس راتوں میں سورۂ فجر کی تلاوت کرے خدا اس کے گناہوں کو بخش دےگا اور جو دوسرے دنوں میں اس کی تلاوت کرے روزِ قیامت نورانی قرار پائے گا۔ (مجمع البیان،ج۱۰ص۳۴۱)

بِسْمِ اللہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Bismi allaahi ar-rahmaani ar-raheem

In the Name of Allah, the most Gracious, the most Merciful.

اللہ کے نام سے (شروع کرتا ہوں) جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔

وَالْفَجْرِ

Wal-fajri

I swear by the daybreak

قسم ہے فجر کی۔

وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ

Walayaalin 'ashr

And the ten nights

اور دس راتوں کی۔

وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ

Wash-shaf'i wal-watr

And the even and the odd

اور جفت و طاق کی۔

وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا يَسْرِ

Wallayli izaa yasr

And the night when it departs.

اور رات کی جب وہ جانے لگے۔

هَلْ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِيْ حِجْرٍ

Hal fee zaalika qasamun lizee hijr

Truly in that there is an oath for those who possess understanding.

بے شک ان چیزوں میں قسم ہے صاحبِ عقل کے لئے۔

اَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ

Alam tara kayfa fa'ala rabbuka bi'aad

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad

کیا تم نے نہیں دیکھا کہ تمہارے رب نے قومِ عاد کے ساتھ کیا کیا ہے

اِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ

Irama zaati al-'imaad

(The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings

ستون والے ارم والے۔

اَلَّتِيْ لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ

Allatee lam yukhlaq mithluhaa fee al-bilaad

The like of which were not created in the (other) cities;

جس کا مثل دوسرے شہروں میں نہیں پیدا ہوا ہے۔

وَثَمُوْدَ الَّذِيْنَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ

Wathamooda allazeena jaaboo as-sakhra bil-waad

And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley

اور ثمود کے ساتھ جو وادی میں پتھر تراش کر مکان بناتے تھے۔

وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْاَوْتَادِ

Wafir'awna zee al-awtaad

And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts

اور میخوں والے فرعون کے ساتھ۔

اَلَّذِيْنَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ

Allazeena taghaw fee al-bilaad

Who committed inordinacy in the cities

جن لوگوں نے شہروں میں سرکشی پھیلائی۔

فَاَكْثَرُوْا فِيْهَا الْفَسَادَ

Fa-aktharoo feehaa al-fasaad

So they made great mischief therein?

اور خوب فساد کیا۔

فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ

Fasabba 'alayhim rabbuka sawta 'azaab

Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement.

تو پھر خدا نے ان پر عذاب کے کوڑے برسا دیئے۔

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ

Inna rabbaka labilmirsaad

Most surely your Lord is watching.

بے شک تمہارا پروردگار ظالموں کی تاک میں ہے۔

فَاَمَّا الْاِنْسَانُ اِذَا مَا ابْتَلٰهُ رَبُّهٗ فَاَكْرَمَهٗ وَنَعَّمَهٗ فَيَقُوْلُ رَبِّيْٓ اَكْرَمَنِ

Fa-ammaa al-insaanu izaa maa ibtalaahu rabbuhoo fa-akramahoo wana''amahoo fayaqoolu rabbee akraman

And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me.

لیکن انسان کا حال یہ ہے کہ جب خدا نے اس کو اس طرح آزمایا کہ عزّت اور نعمت دے دی تو کہنے لگا کہ میرے رب نے مجھے باعزّت بنایا ہے۔

وَاَمَّآ اِذَا مَا ابْتَلٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهٗ فَيَقُوْلُ رَبِّيْٓ اَهَانَنِ

Wa-ammaa izaa maa ibtalaahu faqadara 'alayhi rizqahoo fayaqoolu rabbee ahaanan

But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me.

اور جب آزمائش کے لئے روزی کو تنگ کر دیا تو کہنے لگا کہ میرے پروردگار نے میری توہین کی ہے۔

كَلَّا بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُوْنَ الْيَتِيْمَ

Kallaa bal laa tukrimoona al-yateem

Nay! but you do not honor the orphan

ایسا ہرگز نہیں ہے بلکہ تم یتیموں کا احترام نہیں کرتے ہو۔

وَلَا تَحٰٓضُّوْنَ عَلٰى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِيْنِ

Walaa tahaaddoona 'alaa ta'aami al-miskeen

Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor

اور لوگوں کو مسکینوں کے کھانے پر آمادہ نہیں کرتے ہو۔

وَتَاْكُلُوْنَ التُّرَاثَ اَكْلًا لَّمًّا

Wata'kuloona at-turaatha aklan lammaa

And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately

اور میراث کے مال کو اکٹھا کر کے حلال و حرام سب کھا جاتے ہو۔

وَتُحِبُّوْنَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا

Watuhibboona al-maala hubban jammaa

And you love wealth with exceeding love.

اور مالِ دنیا کو بہت دوست رکھتے ہو۔

كَلَّآ اِذَا دُكَّتِ الْاَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا

Kallaa izaa dukkati al-ardu dakkan dakkaa

Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces,

یاد رکھو کہ جب زمین کو ریزہ ریزہ کر دیا جائے گا۔

وَجَآءَ رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا

Wajaa'a rabbuka wal-malaku saffan saffaa

And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks

اور تمہارے پروردگار کا حکم اور فرشتے صف در صف آجائیں گے۔

وَجِا۟يْٓءَ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَّتَذَكَّرُ الْاِنْسَانُ وَاَنّٰى لَهُ الذِّكْرٰى

Wajiy'a yawma'izin bijahannama yawma'izin yatazakkaru al-insaanu wa-annaa lahu az-zikraa

And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him?

اور جہنّم کو اس دن سامنے لایا جائے گا تو انسان کو ہوش آجائے گا لیکن اس دن ہوش آنے کا کیا فائدہ۔

يَقُوْلُ يٰلَيْتَنِيْ قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِيْ

Yaqoolu yaa laytanee qaddamtu lihayaatee

He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life!

انسان کہے گا کہ کاش میں نے اپنی اس زندگی کے لئے کچھ پہلے بھیج دیا ہوتا۔

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهٗٓ اَحَدٌ

Fayawma'izin laa yu'azzibu 'azaabahoo ahad

But on that day shall no one chastise with (anything like) His chastisement

تو اس دن خدا ویسا عذاب کرے گا جو کسی نے نہ کیا ہو گا۔

وَلَا يُوْثِقُ وَثَاقَهٗٓ اَحَدٌ

Walaa yoothiqu wathaaqahoo ahad

And no one shall bind with (anything like) His binding.

اور نہ اس طرح کسی نے گرفتار کیا ہو گا۔

يٰٓاَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ

Yaa ayyatuhaa an-nafsu al-mutma'innah

O soul that art at rest!

اے نفس مطمئن۔

اِرْجِعِيْٓ اِلٰى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً

Irji'ee ilaa rabbiki raadiyatan mardiyyah

Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him)

اپنے رب کی طرف پلٹ آ اس عالم میں کہ تو اس سے راضی ہے اور وہ تجھ سے راضی ہے۔

فَادْخُلِيْ فِيْ عِبٰدِيْ

Fadkhulee fee 'ibaadee

So enter among My servants

پھر میرے بندوں میں شامل ہو جا۔

وَادْخُلِيْ جَنَّتِيْ

Wadkhulee jannatee

And enter into My garden.

اور میری جنت میں داخل ہو جا۔

صَدَقَ اللهُ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔

Sadaqa allaahu al-'aliyyu al-'azeem.

Almighty God the most high speaks the truth.

اللہ بزرگ و برتر نے سچ فرمایا ہے۔
